Cubic Collective interviews Nicholas Morton, the winner of the

'Casting Call' that we held in store not too long ago.

So Nick, as part of your prize for winning the Casting Call

that we held in store you signed on with Kirk Blake at

'What Models'.

Did you ever see yourself as a model?

Not at all, it really never crossed my mind.

Has this new career opportunity had an effect on your daily

routine or made any lasting difference yet in your life?

Yes, for sure. I already worked two jobs and studied at

university, so sometimes things do get busy. I used to eat

whatever I wanted and did a little casual exercise when it

suited me. Now I’m exercising everyday and eating really

good natural food. I feel so much more alive and healthy.

It has defiantly made me realise the benefits of living a

healthy and balanced lifestyle.

I understand that you have already been getting work, do tell?

It’s only early, so a lot of it has just been experience. I

went to Melbourne a few weeks ago to shoot with some photographers.

I really enjoyed it!

What is the new road ahead looking like for Nicholas Morton,

do you have any new aspirations for the future?

My goals in life are still pretty much the same. However, I

am now also really keen to explore this industry. This could

maybe give me a new pathway to reach my goals. I would love to

be another one of Kirks success stories, so I’m going to give it

a crack for a few years and see where it takes me and along

the way hopefully earn some money to buy a house. I see this

as a really good opportunity to get a head start on life, see

the world and meet some cool people. This is all so new to me,

so I’m just taking it as it comes and going into everything

with an open mind. As long as I’m enjoying it that’s all that

matters.

Your shooting this week with Thor Engelstad for the Rufus Green

Autumn/Winter 11 Campaign, that should be exciting?

Yes I was really excited when Kirk talked to me about doing this

shoot. Can’t wait!

We should have some sneaky photos that we can post in the not to

Over privileged teenagers growing up in the 80's, living lives full of special rights and immunities that seem desirable and attractive.

Unfortunately life is a two way street and you soon see the flip side to the drugs and high life. Very moving in an unnerving way that made me feel almost depressed, disturbed and totally unsettled. For me Bret Easton Ellis has an uncanny ability to strike an emotional attachment with me to his characters which keeps me utterly intrigued despite many cringe worthy moments of literary torture. I totally cannot wait to get home and start reading Imperial Bedrooms, his most recent release and sequel to this iconic book.

Not yet hugely recognizable, but there is no doubt in anyones mind that this will change very soon.
Cubic Collective interviews model Jordan Coulter.

CC. Bro, how old are you?
JC. 18 Years Old.
CC. Good call Jordan.
CC. How long have you been modeling?
JC. I have modeling properly for almost a year now.

CC. Tell us how you were discovered?
JC. I was leaving the theaters one day, and Kirk Blake came up to me. Weird moment.
CC. I bet, must have been fairly weird, I'm sensing that sort of moment is suspended with a lot of disbelieve. What did Kirk say to you, what was going through you head?
JC. Yeah I was with a friend as well, which made it even more awkward. He was talking all about the business, so I pretty much didn't understand anything. Thought it would be easier to give him my Mums number haha.
CC. Mums the word.
CC. Your still in school right?
JC. Yeah still at school. Year 12, so not to long till its all finished.

Not a bad thing to be happening to you at your age, as long as you can avoid coping shit about it. Thank God your at a co-ed school, you definitely must be clocking up some sort of kudos with the girls.
CC. What has this new found fame done for your social life?

JC. It has been good and bad I guess haha, getting pretty sick of the modelling jokes I hear. I also end up rocking some of the worst haircuts out but I don't really mind.

Though you possess a lot of very good qualities and I'm pretty sure your heads screwed on nice and tight... for now anyway.

CC. It still must be hard to not bail on school and follow the yellow brick road that lies before you?

JC. Ohh it has been tempting, but I worked too hard over the last 12 years to ditch it now... that said, the yellow brick road is getting closer each day.

CC. Tell us who you have shot for to date?

JC. I have shot for Rufus Green (best clothes yet), American Eagle, CK, Dsquared, GQ Magazine, Numero Homme, and Just Jeans, I'm hoping this list will keep growing.

CC. I hear you've shot for some pretty big photographers already?

JC. Yeah apparently I have. A few weeks a go shot with Mert and Marcus who are recognised as two of the top photographers in the world. I also shot with Tony Duran, Mariano Vivanco and Matthias Vriens, which have all been awesome.

CC. That's amazing, a lot of models put themselves out there for years and usually don't achieve what you've already done in their whole career. How do you stay so humble about it all?
JC. Yeah I guess I have been lucky with it all, but it is easy to stay grounded. I just don't think about it until I have to get on a plane. My mates help a lot as well.

CC. Who did you enjoy shooting for most?

JC. I enjoyed yours to be honest mate, Rufus Green started me off so well and I'm still so stoked I had the chance.

CC. Thanks bro, appreciate the credit, it means a lot.

Mate, the world is your oyster, your 17 and it sounds like your about to take on the world.

CC. What's next for Mr Jordan Coulter?

JC. Hmmm... Well at the end of the year I'm just going to have a couple months to rest, then heading off overseas early January. If all goes to plan, I will be travelling for hopefully around 2 years, maybe more, who knows haha.

The total focus in the not too distant future is obviously modeling.

CC. Have you got other aspirations and things you would like to achieve?

JC. I would love to be in the top 50 male models list. I have looked at it before, and just thought that would be awesome to be on haha. But apart from that, no idea, my modelling knowledge isnt to great yet.

CC. Is there anyone out there that you would love to work with?

JC. I wish I could say yeah I would love to work with... but to be honest, I have absolutely no clue. Whatever comes my way I will be happy with.

After complications with Prostate Cancer, Dennis Hopper passed away yesterday, Saturday May 29th 2010. He will be very sadly missed, an icon of the 60's, and in my eyes a legend today. His legacy will live on through his contributions to film and art. †
