Wore this while grasping desperately onto the last few chilly days in California. Wearing my LeatherCult leather skirt one more time before packing it away for the summer. Paired it with a neon and neutral sweater to add a little color, and wore my usual assortment of black leather accessories.

Also, currently favoring these shoes as my heel of choice. They're crazy tall, and I almost twisted my ankle trying to break them in while washing dishes, but I don't even come close to caring. They're just too good.

Plus Size Swim: Animal Instincts

Had such an insanely awesome weekend! SoCal had some crazy good weather, so we spent both days either at the pool, playing in the sand at the beach, or in the backyard grilling weird things like buffalo-sauced corn (it's actually really good :P).

Anyway, I wore this Becca Etc swimsuit for the first time! Totally smitten with it. The quality is amazing, and I LOVE. THIS. PRINT. It can be such a nightmare to find cute plus size swimsuits in bright colors and punchy prints, so when I laid eyes on this one at the Becca Etc Blogger Event, I knew for sure it was coming home with me! It's super comfortable, has good support, and the ruffled hem is so freaking cute! I do wish there were a bikini top in this print (I'd be ALL OVER THAT), but they do have several bikini options in coral and aqua! :)

This is about as "California" as an outfit gets (aside from a t-shirt, shorts, and flipflops). Wore my bright-white embroidered hem dress out with sky-high wedges the boy bought me last year, and lots of leather accents like my leather backpack from Asos and excessive amount of bracelets. Topped everything off with a fedora that I picked up from the men's section (shhhh) of H&M a couple years ago!

And with that, I am thoroughly ready for summer BBQ season to begin. YES.

I can't express how excited I am to have another awesome plus size swimwear line out--BECCA ETC is full of flirty swimsuits in gorgeous colors, with fun details like sassy hardware and chic shapes, and an awesome selection of coverups perfect for going from the beach to drinks with the girls. One of the things I loved about the BECCA ETC line is its awesome use of color and prints. All too often, plus size women are stuck with the basic black or navy one pieces in some tummy-cinching "control" fabric! I'm all for a little smoothing out, but sometimes you just want to look cute and not feel like you've got spanx on. Just check out all these colors and threads in their sewing room!

Onto the good stuff...here are a few of my favorite looks from the swimwear collection!

Rebecca talking about her signature crochet pieces--the detailing is gorgeous! It's so nice to see colors and textures used on plus size swimsuits!

BECCA ETC also carries these shapes in basic black, bright coral, and aqua, and is currently offered in sizes 0x-2x, (ranging from a 14-22). In my opinion, it runs a little small, but, like most swimsuits, I'm sure it forms to your body with use. The attention to detail is fantastic--the tops have double reinforced boning on the sides, eliminating the need for an underwire (at least for me), and the hardware, and ruffles, and fabric textures are to die for. Overall, I'm super happy that in a category of plus size fashion that is so often overlooked, BECCA ETC is seeking to fill a gap!

Shopping Spotlight: Wide Width Summer Sandals

I love shoes. They're supposed to be the great equalizer in fashion, after all! Everyone, regardless of size, can rock the hottest heel, right? WRONG. I guess I have fat feet too, because most shoes are too narrow for me. Major bummer. As a size 10W shoe, it can be really hard to find womens wide fitting shoes that fit well and DON'T look like something my grandmother would wear.

Still in love with this skirt, even though its extreme pink-ness makes it a little office-inappropriate (at least for me). Paired it with a simple color block tee from H&M+ for a minimalist vibe, but I couldn't resist throwing on some simple gold jewelry to complete the look. (I can't get enough of this eloquii necklace!) Also wearing my Rebecca Minkoff Steady satchel from years ago that I used as a bookbag in college. The poor thing has been to hell and back. Must find a handbag doctor to get it back to its perky, original state. Handbag doctors--those totally exist, right?

trend spotlight: printed denim

One of my favorite Spring 2012 trends is printed denim. Nothing conveys attitude more than a pair of snake print skinnies paired with a slouchy black tshirt and leather jacket. I'd totally rock the leopard skinnies with an oversized white tank, leather wrap bracelets, and a straw fedora for a sexy summer look, too! I know many plus size women don't think they can "pull off" printed bottoms, but I think it's all about confidence when wearing a pair of these attention-getters. ;)

A little while ago, I posted about this Rachel Pally dress and how much I regretted not getting it when I was in LA for the warehouse sale a couple months ago. I even joked that I would buy someone dinner if they picked it up for me since I wasn't able to go back to the sale in time to get it! Little did I know, Sabrina of samplesize16.com was sweet enough to grab it for me!!! So awesome, and incredible of her! :D ♥ On top of being a total sweetheart, she has FAB fashion sense. She was rocking these chic hot pink skinnies from Old Navy when we met up...and I haven't been able to get them off my mind since!

Anyway, I absolutely LOVE. THIS. DRESS. So much. I'm obsessed with the print, and it feels like it was cut for me. It can be dressed up, dressed down--dressed for anything! So obsessed. :D

As excited as I am for warm weather, I'm still embracing the last few weeks of layering, jackets, and leather before it heats up for good and those pieces have to take a backseat. :) What are you guys trying to get one last wear out of before busting out your warm-weather clothing? :D

The second I laid eyes on this crocheted open cardi from Torrid, I knew I had to have it! It's so perfect with it's boho vibe and adorable scalloped edges (again with the scalloped edges, haha). Kept things simple with a muted maxi (now available in bright summery colors!), simple layered necklaces, and gold wedges. I couldn't have dreamt of a better backdrop for this look than a gloomy day at the beach. I hope you like! :)

Pretty much everyone is talking about Coachella and who wore what over the weekend--Refinery29 did a pretty sweet first-weekend wrap-up of the best street style if you want to check it out! :)

Anyway, this look isn't an homage to Coachella or anything, but I ended up wearing something pretty suitable for it since the temps were so high in SoCal! Shorts and a cute breezy top are my go-to hot weather pieces since I hate being sweaty, lol! Since this spring is all about bright colors, I paired this super simple outfit with coral wedges, a green scarf, and a yellow-accented beach bag perfect for hauling around my spring necessities. This bag, by the way, is big enough for magazines, water, a beach blanket, sunglasses, sunscreen, planner, wallet, keys, cell phone, and more. It's INSANELY big, and I love it! :D

Took these shots when it was obviously too bright out, but at least it gave me a chance to bust out my Chloé sunglasses! :D Celebrated the sunny weather with a scallop edge miniskirt from Torrid. Something about the feminine and flirty detail is just so irresistible to me. :) I do wish the skirt were just a tad longer so I could wear it at the waist, but it's still super cute and perfect for a summer day at the beach. :D

I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! Mine consisted of egg hunting, hiking, cooking, and just hanging out, catching up! The best part? Spending time with family, friends, and my amazing bf. ♥
So, so grateful for weekends like this.

Shopping Spotlight: Contrast Trim Trench Coat

The Kate Spade 'Topliner' trench is perfection in my eyes. Its black trim, perfectly oversized and rounded lapels, and attention to detail (you can't see it here but the lining is a gorgeous Florence Boardhurst pattern that I've used as the border here) are the stuff of dreams. While I'm hardly the type to spend $700 on a jacket (I typically save that sort of investment $$ for bags), I would totally make an exception for this trench.

Unfortunately, the 'Topliner' trench goes up to a 14, a few sizes shy of what I wear. Given the fact that I can't remember the last time I was a 14 (maybe what, middle school??), I started searching for a suitable alternative. I came across the Piped Trench by So Fabulous and while it certainly isn't a perfect match, it works. I would probably swap out the included belt for different one (maybe a black one?) to increase the contrast, but at less then 1/10th of the price of the 'Topliner," this coat is a pretty good alternative.

Another option is to take Jessica Quirk's advice and make my own! ;) With my limited sewing skills though...I might just end up with a ruined trench, a pile of tangled trim, and throbbing fingertips.

What do you ladies do when you fall in love with a design that doesn't come in your size? Shop for alternatives? Make it yourself? DIET? (Just kidding! Don't yell at me.) I want to know! ♥

Wore this sunny yellow dress on an otherwise gloomy day over the weekend. Sort of a B.Y.O.S. (bring your own sunshine) attempt, I guess? Anyway, I love fabrics with texture (eyelet, knits, lace, etc) so I was immediately drawn to this dress on Torrid's website. Next time though, I'll tie the ribbon in the back or remove it since the look is a little twee with the bow up there in front. haha :) I can't wait to wear this more in the summer without a jacket or with a thin cardigan--can also see this pairing well with a white blazer. :)

Couldn't think of a better time to bust out my Kate Spade hello sunshine bag either, which regrettably, isn't available online anymore. If you happen to see it in store somewhere though, I definitely recommend snapping it up! It is too cute, and has the most adorable gold polka dot lining ever. :) I'm just bummed I missed out on the matching straw hat!

Even after so many seasons, I'm still utterly in love with this H&M Inclusive skirt. Something about the color and extra poufy shape is just so appealing to me! Decided to pair it with more stripes and pastels to get just enough of a did-you-mean-to-look-like-an-easter-egg effect. Mission accomplished, I think. I don't think any other combination of items from my closet could scream "OMGSPRING" more than this one!

Apparently colored bottoms are becoming a habit for me. I'm totally in love with the color of these jeans but they are too big! Sad! I'll definitely be trying to shrink these in the wash. Also, I've become completely obsessed with simple, graphic prints and patterns. Polka dots, stripes, zigzags, cat prints, chair prints, bird prints--EVERYTHING. It's insane. Every time I browse online, I'm all *MOAR PRINTZ PLEAZ!* Anyone else feeling like this lately??

Anyway! Super excited for spring. Busting out some new clothes, updating home decor, and getting around to some fun DIY projects. Can't wait! :)

This dress has been sitting in my closet for AGES now. Every time I pulled it out, I'd put it on, look at myself in the mirror, and go "HOLY CRAP THAT'S PINK," and quickly change out of it. Well, this past weekend was the first super warm weekend we've had in a while (80 degrees!!!) and wearing something super bright just felt right. This dress is definitely a mood booster--you can't help but feel happy in it!
The heels were a total steal (from a Nordstrom pre-sale!) and the clutch was from the bf for Valentine's Day. ♥ him!

Anyway, you might have noticed that I now include links on where to buy what I'm wearing! Woohoo! H&M+ is here!

I don't usually write much on plus size fashion news, but think this is definitely worth sharing...

H&M+ has finally launched in the US!
H&M's BIB (Big is Beautiful) line was recently revamped to HM+ and launched in the US! The line will include styles in sizes 14-24, and only be carried in select stores. (EDIT* You CAN in fact search online which stores will have it! Their store locator has a dropdown where you can filter which categories you want to search for.) I'm also expecting it to be available online when their US online shopping website launches in the fall.

In their own words, "Following the success of last year’s Inclusive collection, H&M was inspired to extend parts of the main line to include all sizes. So this Spring, H&M+ makes its debut – bright, colorful and stylish pieces that go effortlessly with your everyday wardrobe. Some of our favorite items include a silky color-blocked pink blouse, striped tunics and a versatile navy parka. With H&M+, we want to celebrate every confident and fashionable woman around the world!"

Here a few items that H&M has indicated will be included in their plus size line:

First impression? Cute. I really like the camel/pink t-shirt. So perfect for spring! The parka is kinda "eh" but I imagine that there will be some really cute, standout pieces. I can't wait to see what other goodies they'll have! Trying not to get my hopes up but I can't help it! :P If anything, it's about time someone gave Forever21+ a run for its money!

***UPDATE: The 3 stores closest to me will NOT be carrying the plus size line. Way disappointing. I've been obsessed with this hot pink skirt of late. I loved the one Gap was selling, but theirs only went up to a size 14 (sad face). Thankfully, I found this amazing one from Old Navy (up to size 20), and of course, since it's Old Navy, it was wayyy inexpensive, at less than $25! Love. Paired the skirt with a super stark black and white sweater--I love how the vibrant all the colors look together. :D Also wearing the bracelet my sis bought for me for Christmas. ♥!

I've also recently become a nail polish-aholic. I've added maybe 11 polishes within the last month! Scary, but I love them all! Most of my new colors are from Julep, one of those nifty little box-a-month dealios. I can tell my membership is going to be dangerous. lol! Also, if you guys know of good nail polish blogs (with swatches, reviews, etc), definitely let me know! I have some catching up to do. ;)

Anyway, let me know what you think of the skirt! It's a step out of my comfort zone but I love it! :D

Thailand and Cambodia were hot, sweaty, dirty, insane, and awesome. I saw some of the most amazing sights everrr, including a cross-dressing show. If Thailand and Cambodia aren't on your list of places to go, add them. So worth it.

I love the vixen-y vibe of this Rachel Pally top. The cutout sleeves and high neckline paired with a keyhole opening are decidedly more provocative than I usually wear, but I kind of love it! Staying true to my girly aesthetic, my faaaavorite feature is the bow at the nape of the neck. So cute! I'm so tempted to wear it backwards with it tied more loosely for a "secretary blouse" effect. hehe. :P

The skirt is from leathercult, which @_franceta raved about on twitter! (Side note: THANK YOU, for finding custom leather skirts that don't break the bank!) I could do with much less poufiness in the skirt, but overall, I love it. :)

Also, I will wear these shoes until they (or my feet) fall apart. Love them.

Rachel Pally designs the kind of amazing, effortlessly chic styles I constantly daydream about wearing. Everything from her collection flows beautifully, and always feels amazing on, so when her team reached out me to me test drive a couple pieces, I was beyond excited!

The Meme dress I'm wearing is absolutely stunning in person--the cool icy color and gorgeous cut are perfect for all four seasons (in Cali at least), and the modal jersey makes this dress feel both incredibly luxurious and more comfortable than pajamas! I could lounge in this all day. I love how easily it transitions from casual with sandals and beachy accessories, to dressy with some statement jewelry and attention-grabbing shoes. Oh the possibilities!
