Custom Built will be exhibiting at JLC Live this year as it comes to the Rhode Island Convention Center. The entire show runs from March 21st – March 24th, and you’ll be able to find us in the exhibit hall (booth 436) on March 23rd and 24th. We’ll be providing more information over the next few weeks about what products we’ll be featuring at the show, but rest assured we have some really cool ideas planned for you guys.

Start Your Cameras: Photo Contest

To kick off our our biannual photo contest with a bang — we’re giving away 3 Amazon Kindles! Custom Built is looking for photos of completed projects featuring our products. Photos could be of vinyl replacement windows, storm windows, entrance doors, anything that showcase our products in an interesting or beautiful settings. Welcome to the New Custom Built Window & Door

Last night we re-launched what amounts to the 4th version of Custom Built Window and Door’s website, and we’re confident it’s the best one yet. Looking for a way to showcase more of our products and highlight what we’re expecting to be a more active blog area, we re-designed the entire front page, and added a fresh coat of paint to the rest.

Also, we wanted to provide more information for and a better experience for our visitors, so over the next few weeks, we’ll be adding some instructional and informational videos to our YouTube Channel, so keep an eye out for those.

2011 Energy Tax Credits

If you’re considering purchasing new windows or doors, there are still federal tax credits available for 2011. Although the new tax law has reduced the amount of the credit and modified the criteria, you are still eligible for tax credits for making your home more energy efficient.

Purchasing Custom Built ENERGY STAR® qualified products help you save twice — immediately on the tax credit and then over time with reduced energy bills.

Highlights:

A homeowner tax credit of 10% of the product’s cost (NOT including installation) up to $500, with a $200 cap on windows
Products must carry the ENERGY STAR® logo, and must be installed between January 1st, 2011 and December 31st, 2011
Limits consumers to a lifetime maximum tax credit of $500. This lifetime limit is for any combination of tax credit qualifying products (windows, doors, insulation, HVAC, roofing, etc) from Jan 1, 2006, to Dec. 31, 2011. Consumers who have already reached or exceeded the $500 limit are not eligible to claim the credit in 2011

How to get your credit:

Purchase ENERGY STAR® qualified window or door products
Keep the NFRC label that accompanies your product, OR print the manufacturer certification statement for your records
Provide your invoice with the labor separated from the rest of the job to your tax preparer and claim your credit on your 2011 taxes

Building Green Homes

Custom Built’s new Polar Guard series windows were used in this LEED-qualified house in North Kingstown, RI. Watch the news story below.

The windows used were glazed with Low-E, Argon Gas and Super Spacer, meeting the 2010 Energy Star criteria for energy efficiency.

New Point 1 Color

Custom Built is happy to announce a new standard color option for our Point 1 storm windows. Due to popular demand, we have added Forrest Green to our array of colors which already include White, Bronze, Beige and Black.

Adding Forest Green will allow homeowners to better match their green trim with a faster turnaround time versus custom painting. The finish is a baked enamel, just like our other standard colors, so you can rest easy knowing you’re putting the highest quality storm product on your home. Radius Top Storm Windows

When square is not an option, Custom Built can now bend our Point 1 aluminum storm window profile to fit radius openings giving you more flexibility and superior aesthetics when it comes to your windows. If your window has a curved top (either by itself or part of a larger windowset), Custom Built can bend our window to fit your opening.

It is very common for period homes to have eyebrow tops or other architectural accents as part of the windows. Now Custom Built can build our storm windows to perfectly fit over these round openings and still maintain the original design of the home while increasing its energy efficiency.
