Raven's Fiji experience

AMERICAN actress Raven-Symone is looking forward to gaining as much cultural experience from Fiji as she can before she flies back to the US this weekend. The 26-year-old is the invited guest for the week-long Tennis Classic Tournament in Denarau in Nadi which began on Monday.

"Fiji is so deep in culture, which is so different from America," she said yesterday. "The people are family orientated and there's just a sense of togetherness and unity here and I want to take that back with me when I leave.

"This trip isn't about me bringing something to Fiji but rather I'm hoping to leave with something."Symone began her acting career in 1989 appearing in The Cosby Show as Olivia. She has featured in movies like The Cheetah Girls, Dr Dolittle, The Princess Diary II, College Road Trip and her recent film being The Revenge of the Bridesmaid. She has also starred in her own Disney television series That's So Raven. She has also released several musical albums and has a colourful career as a model, television producer, comedian, songwriter and dancer.

Raven Symone Joins Broadway

Raven Symone is heading to Broadway! After her latest show got canned, she has been hiding out of the spotlight until now. She is confirmed to be playing the lead act in Sister Act, which she will start preparing for this month. Her debut on the stage for this musical will take place at the end of March. This will be her second stint on Broadway, which she used to do around the age of 5. No word on how long her stint with the show will last.

I am so excited for her! I personally think that Broadway must be harder than filming a series or movie. You don’t get to re-do scenes or make edits. That is something that I think most people would not be able to do. So she must have a strong belief in herself (which she should since she has been doing this for so long) to feel okay to do this. I really hope that she is given rave reviews for the musical just because she is a great at what she does.

How do you feel about her joining Broadway? I think it is exciting for her, but also a change of pace. I am not sure why she feels the need to avoid TV or movies for now, but it does seem to suit her. I hear that doing Broadway leads to having more free time and I can see how that would appeal to her. I certainly hope that everything goes to plan and she can enjoy her time there. It will be fun to hear how well it goes and maybe if I am lucky enough I will be able to see a show of it myself.

Raven Symone: 'Sister Act' Star!

Raven Symone is coming back to Broadway! Deadline reports that the 26-year-old actress is taking over the lead role in Sister Act at the end of February.

Raven will take over for Patina Miller as Deloris Van Cartier. Whoopi Goldberg, who played Deloris in the film and its sequel, produces the Broadway adaptation featuring original music by Alan Menken, which opened in April 2011.

Rehearsals will start at the end of February and Raven will make her debut at the end of March for a minimum six-month engagement.

Raven Symone, Gia Mantegna, and Lauren Conrad were all spotted at the 2012 Warner Bros. and InStyle Golden Globe Awards After Party held at The Beverly Hilton hotel on Sunday night (January 15) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

Lauren, 25, wore a Paper Crown dress with Jimmy Choo heels and a Christian Louboutin clutch. “Since the dress was so simple, I paired it with a statement clutch and strappy heels. Sometimes, you just have to let the accessories do the talking…” she wrote on her official site. Raven was also spotted at NBCUniversal’s 69th Annual Golden Globes Viewing and After Party Sponsored By Chrysler and Hilton.

Raven Symone looks gorgeous in white at the 50th Anniversary of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital event. The event took place on January 7th at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. Raven is the voice of Iridessa in Disney’s Tinker Bell movies. A new one is coming out titled “Tinker Bell: Secret of the Wings”. According to IMDB, the movie is about “Tinker Bell meets Periwinkle and ventures into the winter woods with her and Tinker Bell’s other friends to find the secret of fairy wings.” It also looks like this may go straight to DVD, but no word on that quite yet.

Looks like the holiday spirit is winning over everyone! Over the weekend, rapper Tyga and Raven-Symone went to distribute toys in the Los Angeles area to underprivileged kids for the holidays. Sources tell us Tyga and Raven-Symone personally purchased the toys provided, and a total of 700 children attended.
