But she’s not just being “Mean” — Taylor provided a counter-offer that’s way better than an awkward high school dance. “Kevin, I’m so sorry but I won’t be able to make it to your prom. McGuire is battling leukemia for the second time after first staving it off in 2010. He heard about Swift’s invitation following a bone-marrow procedure at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. His older sister Victoria is responsible for getting the Lorax star’s attention with a Facebook group that had nearly 100,000 followers in just a few days. “She’s just one of those girls where fame doesn’t get to her head,” McGuire said of his favorite country superstar. “She’s sweet. … If people could be more like Taylor, the world would be a better place.”

Taylor Swift is bringing the lyrics of her hit Love Story to life for one of her fans. The 22-year-old Country Music star has invited a cancer sufferer to be her date to this year's American Country Music Awards. The kind-hearted hitmaker asked Kevin McGuire, 18, to be her prince for the evening after she turned down his invitation for her to be his prom date.

She sent the New Jersey schoolboy a special message on Facebook soon after that which surely raised his spirits. She told him: 'Kevin I'm so sorry but I won't be able to make it to your prom. 'But I was wondering, the ACM Awards are coming up. Would you be my date?'

And even though he is currently in hospital receiving treatment, the leukaemia sufferer told the Philadelphia Inquirer: 'Obviously I said yes. The ACM Awards is a lot better than the senior prom.'He will now be looking forward to jetting out to Las Vegas for the event on April 1. Kevin is fighting the disease for the second time, and was first diagnosed when he was 13 years-old. He is being treated for a relapse of acute lymphoblastic leukemia at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Since being diagnosed he underwent years of chemotherapy, was taking 35 pills in a night, had hundreds of spinal taps, and numerous bone marrow screenings. He won his battle with cancer in April 2010, but had a relapse. Throughout his treatment he played basketball and American football at his school, where he is known as 'the real Superman.'His sister Victoria came up with the idea to get her brother a famous date for his prom. She dedicated a Facebook page to the cause and it now has more than 90,000 members. And he said there was a special reason why he chose the 22-year-old Fearless star. He said: 'I tried to think of a kind person who would make me feel OK. And laugh.

'A person who would look amazing, and the one person who would make me feel special for one night. It was her.'Victoria also let the group know how excited his family was with the news. She wrote: 'Taylor got back to us. She is unable to attend Kevin's prom, although did one better - invited Kevin to be her date to the Academy of Country Music Awards! 'Thank you so so so so so much! The McGuire family could never show how grateful we are to all of you! 'We have won in more than one way.. we got Taylor to take Kevin on a date, and we have made so many good friends along the way!'

Eighteen-year-old Kevin McGuire is battling leukemia for the second time, and as his senior prom approaches, he only wants to take one girl -- Taylor Swift.

With the support of more than 90,000 fans on the "Taylor Swift Take Kevin McGuire to Prom!" Facebook page, which Kevin's sister put up just three days ago, the New Jersey high school student is hoping the country star hears his plea.

"Nothing, and I mean nothing, brightens Kevin's day more than Taylor Swift," big sis Victoria McGuire wrote on the Facebook event page. "Kevin deserves more than anyone else a special event in his life and the one thing he wants is to go to prom with Taylor Swift!"

"The community has been very supportive of me," Kevin told USA Today. The Stratford High school student battled leukemia at age 13, and seemed to have beaten the illness three years later, but was recently diagnosed once again. Kevin is currently hospitalized, and so far, Taylor has yet to respond to the invitation. The prom is set for June 1, which is also Kevin's birthday.

Singer Taylor Swift penned her Grammy Award-winning hit ‘Mean’ about a music critic who constantly gave her scathing reviews. The star's tune won two trophies at the prizegiving earlier this month and it was believed to have been inspired by Swift's experiences with bullying in high school.

However, Swift has now set the record straight, revealing the lyrics were born from a much different place. She says, "A lot of people think that I wrote the song about being in bullied in high school and when the song went out into the world it kind of became that. But I actually wrote the song about a critic who kept giving me really bad reviews. Like nothing ruins your day more then a bad review. And then like there's the scathing review, which is kind of past constructive criticism and it's more into like, I hate you territory, which is mean. And it really got me down. Like I started feeling low...

"Because I do get my feelings hurt. You don't ever really get thick skin for that sort of thing, well I don't at least.. and the only way I could get myself to feel semi- better about it was to sing... this song called ‘Mean’ and then it won two Grammys. And now I feel better."

However, the ‘Love Story’ hitmaker is glad the song struck a chord with fans and became a powerful anti-bullying anthem. She adds, "It's not really about him (the music critic) anymore. It just went out into the world and became such a bigger thing when I got fans sending me videos saying, 'Thank you so much, high school is easier for me now.'"

Taylor Swift has been working hard with CoverGirl as one of their spokespeople. Now she has a brand new TV spot and as usual, she shows a cheery side we all love. It was for the Blast Flipstick and aired during this year’s past Grammy awards. However, it has nothing to do with the music awards and clearly shows Taylor as a great model on top of everything else that she does. You will find the video down below, which she rocks a few different looks in it.

I am so happy that she has been doing so well. She has a great personality and it shows through these TV spots. I hope that she can stay around as their spokesperson for a long time. She really has done a good job to bringing a fresh face for the brand. With the likes of older actors being the models for them for a while, it does seem like they lost that fresh market. Hopefully she is helping to revive that for them.

Do you like Taylor’s work as a model? I think she does it so well and she does it in a very professional way. I never feel like that she is just modeling. Her smiles seem to be so real and that is a huge benefit for CoverGirl. One thing that I do wish that they would do is for her to do a video talking about her personal favorite products from the brand. I doubt that will ever happen, but I can dream, right?

Taylor Swift has opened up about how she remembered Whitney Houston. In an interview held at the premiere of "The Lorax", the "Mine" hitmaker said to E! Online, "I was a huge fan of Whitney." She further gushed, "And I was also a fan of her spirit. She was always smiling and I just always felt like she was relatable."

During the chat outside Universal Studios Hollywood on February 19, Taylor went on explaining, "When I was growing up, I'm pretty sure that was my first exposure to poetry." The former flame of Joe Jonas additionally said, "And I just loved it."

Beside talking about the late Whitney, Taylor shared her thoughts on losing a role in "Les Miserables". "Things sometimes don't happen and it happens all the time, that things don't come together," she said before adding, "But the thing about my life is that everybody seems to know all these different versions of stories that may or may not be true."

At the special screening of "The Lorax", Taylor was joined by Zac Efron. When strolling down the orange carpet, the "Ours" singer and her co-star also teamed up with "When in Rome" actor Danny DeVito, "The Hangover" star Ed Helms and "Hot in Cleveland" actress Betty White.

Taylor Swift has confirmed that she is single and she is loving it! She recently was asked about how she felt to be free from relationships. Taylor answered that the fact that she is good at being single, even if she does complain about it for a while. You will find the video of her sharing her thoughts and feelings about being single down below.

I am pleased to see that she is happy about this. It is likely good for her own spirit and heart. After heartbreak and good songs, she can now take a needed break to find inspiration in other areas. It could make her have a completely different album in the near future. Until then, we will always have her old classics that tell us she is not someone you want to mess with. Then again, who would want to hurt the girl next door?

Do you like Taylor’s opinion on being single? I do and I think it is healthy for someone her age. She is learning that being single isn’t all that bad. In fact, it could do her some real good change that can make a huge difference for her career. Or at least that is how I feel she should look at these news feelings as. Being single is a healthy part of life.

After donating 14,000 Scholastic books to the Nashville Public Library, Taylor Swift is now starring in a new Read Across America PSA with her co-stars in 'Dr. Seuss' The Lorax.'The National Education Association has enlisted Taylor, Zac Efron, Danny Devito, Ed Helms and Betty White to champion the special day in which children and adults alike are encouraged to read.

The cast members took turns reciting a poem that says: "You're never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read with a child. In schools and communities let's gather around. Let's pick up a book. Let's pass it around. There are kids all around you, kids who will need someone to hug, someone to read. So join in the fun in your own special way. Read across America with Dr. Seuss and the NEA."Read Across America Day will take place on March 2, which is the same day that 'The Lorax' opens in theaters.
