I half agree. And I’m sure you’ve had nachos, but given the Brits’ predilection for making up their own words, nachos are probably called something else over there. Maybe corn biscuits or something.

I am a full-potted spinning guttersnipe. I’ve never heard of or had nacho. So it ain’t dinner.

I like hot food and sometimes eat it. The scars in my oesophagus prove it. So it is dinner.

As applies to his predecessor, history will be the judge regarding 44th’s ultimate grade as president. It’s a tough gig.

For the record, I never drank coffee (neither Viennese nor any other kind), I grew up in a small town situated at an elevation of 358 ft below the city of Salzburg, and we bought our milk at the local supermarket. (I don’t think I’ve ever seen a milk maid in the flesh, let alone having been nurtured by one.)

Not sure whether the term “radical Islam” is an oxymoron or a tautology. I started reading the Qur’an once, but I never made it past sura #4.

Oh stop being so damn clever. (This is the product of a young fertile mind, nurtured by milk maids high above Salzburg and stimulated by Mozart and Viennese coffee.) When I was in Salzburg several Mays ago, I stopped at that hotel on the river and had a dried out Sacher torte with very good coffee.

In this post, you have successfully blasted my favorite targets of incompetence: Obama, one of the worst presidents in the last 50 years, U.S. Government officials (very similar to poor teachers with tenure), Radical Islam (is that an oxymoron?), NASA, and the word “perception.” I hate that word. It is used to avoid apology and fact.

On a serious note, you are a fine writer.

I’m not sure you’re not being too optimistic expecting a taxpayer-funded organisation to react within two months to anything unless it is under constant media scrutiny, especially when it hasn’t noticed the event in the first place and it has to be brought to its attention.

Still, a creepy thought.

Yes, it’s all a matter of balancing

Speaking of the potential for life, I remember another interview I heard many years ago where the host asked a pro-choice activist whether, since she obviously refused to accord human-being-status to the unborn, she would at least acknowledge that abortion amounted to the destruction of a potential human being. After tapdancing around the question for about ten minutes as the host kept repeating it, she grudgingly answered it in the affirmative — what else could she have said?

For even if one doesn’t believe that the unborn are human beings quite yet, the sole purpose of aborting (= destroying) them is to prevent them from becoming human beings at some point down the road, which means they have that potential.

Of course, to openly admit that one is OK with — or, in the case of the aforementioned lady, even actively promotes — the destruction of potential human beings sounds real bad, but that’s precisely what being “pro-choice” means. There’s no way to sugarcoat it.

For the record, I am very much pro-choice. Put less flatteringly, I am OK with destroying potential human beings; although based on the considerations discussed in my post, I cannot decide at which trimester to draw the line.

All I can do is hope that human life begins closer to birth than to conception.
