Faculty of Economics (FEUB) Undergraduate, University of Brawijaya, Indonesia offer International Scholarship for international student. Exchange Program Scholarship is an initiative of the FEUB through World Class University (WCU) program offered to international students who are interested to spend one semester (4 month) in one of our department in FEUB: (1) Accounting (2) Management (3) Economics of Development (Economics).

This scholarship will provide educational, research and professional development opportunities to support growth in the region and to build enduring links at the individual, institutional and country levels. This program is also designed for international student to gain experience of living and studying in one of Indonesian campus.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

Be a citizen of a country in the Asia and the Pacific.
Be a regular full-time student in one university in the Asia and the Pacific region studying Accounting, Management/Business or Economics (have completed at least their first year of study in the home university).
Have met FEUB academic requirement (at least GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 or equivalent grading system)
Have met the English requirements for the course to be considered for a scholarship with a minimum TOEFL 550 or equivalent
Not hold or have held an Indonesian Government funded scholarship in preceding 12 months at the time of application
Satisfy all requirements of the Indonesian Department of Immigration
Not married to/ or defacto of, or engaged to, a person who holds or is eligible to hold an Indonesian status.

The PhD stipends are offered via a grant to three departments at Aalborg University; Department of Electronic Systems, Department of Computer Science, and Department of Mathematical Sciences. The grant from The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation covers 5 full financed PhD stipends. The driving hypotheses of the projects are the following:

Hypothesis: Adaptive signal processing algorithms implemented as embedded software can be used to linearize a highly nonlinear but energy efficient power amplifier core to yield an overall linear and energy efficient amplifier. The applicant needs competences in one or more of the areas: RF electronics and modelling, embedded systems, IC design, FPGA design, power amplifier design, and RF simulation techniques. Hypothesis: Bayesian statistical methods based on a unified approach for divergence approximations can be used to improve the performance of data receivers for mobile communications where the challenge is to make a decision on what data was originally sent by a transmitter or a group of transmitters, when the data is corrupted due to interferences, e.g. generated by other transmitters. Desired competences in one or more of the areas: Data receiver design, wireless communication, signal processing, and Bayesian statistics. Hypothesis: Quantitative model checking, simulation, static analysis and compiler optimizing methods may be used for designing and implementing optimal mappings and scheduling of embedded applications onto multi-core, multi-processor and networked architectures. Hypothesis: Advances in spatial and computational statistics are capable of improving the foundation for understanding and exploiting data-dependent characteristics of spatio-temporal indexing and query processing techniques for the mobile Internet, thus resulting in more effective techniques. Desired competences in one or more of the areas: computer science and statistics – in particular interest in the mobile Internet and spatial and computational statistics. Hypothesis: Utilizing simultaneous coverage from multiple wireless access devices and exploiting knowledge about typical spatio-temporal communication patterns obtained through spatio-temporal data mining techniques, it is possible to predict which links can be kept in a low power state at certain times, while still allowing data packets to be routed in the mobile core network, and thereby reducing the overall power consumption very significantly. Desired competences in one or more of the areas: databases, data mining, and/or spatio-temporal data management, combined with an interest in wireless communications. The projects are supported by three departments as mentioned earlier; Dept. of Electronic systems, Dept. of Computer Science, and Dept. of Mathematical Sciences. For all projects two supervisors will be appointed – a main supervisor and a co-supervisor. The two supervisors will always be from different departments. It is the plan to have some joint activities for all 5 PhD students – for example, a summer school is planned.

Requirements:
Since the PhD stipends have been funded by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation with the plan to improve mobility, you are not allowed to have a Masters degree from Aalborg University. As long as your qualifying masters degree has been received from any other university than Aalborg University you can apply – also if you have your degree from another Danish university.

The application:
The applicant must submit an application for each stipend he or she wishes to apply for. The application must include the following:

An application letter stating the motivation of the applicant to apply for precisely this stipend, applicants background, other relevant information etc. This letter must also include a list of submitted material.
A Curriculum Vitae.
Copies of all relevant degrees obtained as well as copies of relevant scientific papers etc. These must be in Danish or English (signed by an authorized translator). Exam papers in other languages can't be assessed.
A maximum 2 page (11 point Calibri / 2 cm margins all sides) proposal for the research to be pursued in the project containing:
1. Suitable title.
2. Brief background for the project.
3. Initiating problem.
4. Short state-of-the-art in the field with use of a few key references.
5. Novel ideas to solve the proposed problem (in the form of bullet points).
6. Main challenges to work on in the project (in the form of bullet points).
7. A rough sketch of a time and work plan.
8. Up to 5 key references.

PhD stipends are allocated to individuals who hold a Masters degree. PhD stipends are normally for a period of 3 years. It is a prerequisite for allocation of the stipend that the candidate will be enrolled as a PhD student at the Doctoral School of the Faculties of Engineering, Science and Medicine, in accordance with the regulations of Ministerial Order No. 18 of January 14, 2008 on the PhD Programme at the Universities. According to the Ministerial Order, the progress of the PhD student shall be assessed every six months. It is a prerequisite for continuation of salary payment that the previous progress is approved at the time of the evaluation.

The qualifications of the applicant will be assessed by an assessment committee. On the basis of the recommendation of the assessment committee, the Dean of the Faculties of Engineering, Science and Medicine will make a decision for allocating the stipend.

A postgraduate studentship is available to investigate new methods to increase the capability of optical interferometry and to introduce new levels of traceability in the measurement of precision engineering surfaces. PhD Studentship about Optical Measurement of Precision Surfaces at Loughborough University, Wolfson School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering

With the lateral resolution of a few micrometres and an axial resolution of a few nanometres interferometery is becoming an increasingly popular means to characterise engineering surfaces. As a non-contacting technique, commercial interferometers make an indirect estimate of surface form deduced from measurements of the light scattered from the surface.

Due to the complex interaction between light and rough surfaces anomalous behaviour can occur and, for this reason, traditional contacting methods making more direct measurements using stylus-based instrumentation remain the basis of international (ISO) surface standards. The purpose of this project is to develop optimisation strategies based on new, more sophisticated surface scattering models to increase measurement capability and to estimate uncertainty in optical interferometers.

The project is sponsored by the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) and Taylor Hobson Ltd. It is expected that the student will spend some time at one or both of the industrial partners' premises.

A first degree (First class or High 2:1 honours) in the physical sciences or mathematics is required and an interest in optics would be an advantage. Strong analysis skills and proficiency in numerical computing are essential and experience of optimisation techniques would be an advantage.

The preferred starting dates are 1 October 2010 or 1 December 2010 and the studentship will have a stipend of £8,000-£11,500 per annum, tax free, plus tuition fees. This studentship is open to UK/EU and international students.

Doctoral Scholarship Children’s Mobility and Physical Activity in Higher Density Urban Neighbourhoods
Applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals for a Health Research Council of New Zealand funded PhD scholarship. The successful applicant will join an established team of researchers from Massey University, University of Auckland and Auckland University of Technology (AUT), in Auckland, New Zealand. The student will be based at the Centre for Physical Activity and Nutrition at AUT. The scholarship is valued at NZ $25,000 p.a. (tax exempt) for three years. A full or partial tuition fee waiver may also apply.

This research will be located in Auckland, New Zealand and is concerned with understanding how neighbourhood environments can foster children’s independent mobility- outdoor play and active transport (e.g. walking/cycling) – to increase physical activity and participation in urban life. At issue is the recursive relationship between place and wellbeing, with everyday practices affected by both the nature of urban spaces and perceptions of them as safe and desirable, or otherwise. The study aims to understand how urban design factors influence children’s wellbeing by investigating the neighbourhood experiences, independent mobility, and physical activity of children 8-11 years living in higher deprivation Auckland neighbourhoods of differing dwelling density.
The successful candidate will work with children aged 8-11 years and their parents, to understand how urban design factors influence children’s physical activity and independent mobility. It is envisaged the area of PhD study will focus on independent mobility and physical activity and the relationships between these variables and children’s social and/or built environments. The successful applicant will share responsibility for the collection and analysis of data, including fieldwork and the use of accelerometry and global positioning systems.

PhD Studentship – How do androgens alter human hair growth?

The main aim of this research is to increase our understanding of how androgens are able to stimulate hair growth in many areas like the beard and axillary regions, while at the same time inhibiting growth on the scalp in the same people causing male pattern baldness (alopecia).

This is an unique endocrine paradox. Androgens also promote several distressing hair disorders including hirsutism (excessive hair growth in women) and alopecia, but these are currently poorly controlled.
Further understanding of the mechanism of androgen action in the hair follicle should allow the development of new treatment approaches.

Since the hair follicle is an exciting mini-organ involving epithelial and mesenchyme cell interactions, results may also be important for other tissues and diseases such as prostate and breast cancer.
The project will involve a range of advanced techniques including cell and organ culture, immunohistology and a number of molecular biology methods.

This studentship offers the applicant the chance to work in an active, internationally-renowned academic research department; they will become part of the newly-established Centre for Skin Sciences. The project will be supervised by Professor Val Randall (former President of the European Hair Research Society) and will build on other research from her group.

This Studentship is available from October 2010 for a period of three years.
It will cover all the successful applicants University registration fees and a stipend (student living costs) at BBSRC standard rates; this is currently 13,590 per year. Applications are invited from UK or EU nationals with an honours degree in a Biological Sciences subject, or a related discipline, graded at 2(i) or above.

University of Scranton has established the Pakistani Student Scholarship to encourage Pakistani students to study at this University. One or two $7400 scholarships are available every year. The scholarship essentially covers the tuition for the first semester of study. The University awards the scholarship on a competitive basis to entering students from Pakistan who are not not permanent residents of USA.

The students must enroll in the on-campus MBA program at the University. To apply for the scholarship, the candidates should have a score of at least 550 in GMAT. They must also show a commitment to help others. Applications are invited for the Master of Science (MSc) degree in Plasma Physics at Queen’s University Belfast.
The MSc course begins in 27 September 2010 and will run for 12 months.
It consists of web-based taught material, tutorials, laboratory and computer simulation work and a research project.

Tips to write a research proposal which will be discussed here is a research proposal which will be used to search for scholarships abroad. The following article is only suggestions and views on proposals to expand the research. Each rating agency has its own scholarship, as well as any professor. Things that need to be considered in writing a research proposal:
1. Choose a theme that interests us and many of our publications that support the theme. This is very important to support our competence in the research. Try these themes relate to our scientific publications. Publications are publications in referred journals and conferences. If you do not have the least are related to the thesis, the thesis or project we've ever done. To determine the theme if we had been long engaged in that field and has many publications, we can confidently choose a new theme based on our tastes find the appropriate professor. If the publication and the background is still a mediocre professor should seek first to be spoken for and view the publications he has to match our theme. The important thing to remember is our theme compatibility with the professors' research interests.
2. Avoid typos and grammatical errors. Error writing and grammar is something that is frustrating for a professor who read his guidance prospective student applications. To avoid this use to check spelling and grammar that we use word processing. Print and read the proposal carefully. It is a strange thing if we own our lazy to read the writing but forcing professors to read it. Strikeout if any writing errors and mark these lines. Do this at least three times to avoid wrongly written.
3. Write in clear language and avoid using too long sentences Sentence length and contains many meanings will make people lazy to read it.
4. Avoid proposals which are too long There are no clear standards regarding the number of pages, but succinct proposals that many professors are preferred because their time is indeed very busy. Some references mention no more than 2000 words. There are also references to say 60-10 pages.
5. Use the references from journals and latest articles Where possible use references of journals and articles for journals and articles more updated than the book. Will write a research scientist in an article before publishing it into a book. For this article should be cultivated among them is the article published by a supervisor that we want our supervisors are applying as a candidate. This is to show the seriousness of our interest in that field and field relationship with the professor's research. Journals can be obtained by signing up to become a member of an organization eg, IEEE (price per journal is quite expensive if you become an individual member, about 25 USD) or obtained from the campus who subscribe to the journal. Another way is to ask the journal to the authors. Some authors are willing to give away for free (rare). Or the way that most do not need capital are reading the abstracts from the journal. Actually the scientific ethics, if you mention the article, should have read the full contents of the article.
6. Be careful to quote the sentence in the literature. Plagiarism is a very taboo in the scientific world. Although the exact quotation of a sentence has been referred to the source is an act of plagiarism. Try if you refer to the literature, the sentence is the result of our analysis of these libraries, without the need to quote a single sentence in that library.
The composition of the proposal there are no basic standards referred to all agencies. Each institution and the professors have their own composition in the manufacture of the proposal. For example the following is pake layout my proposal in my research proposal:

The core of the motivation letter is to "sell themselves" in a positive sense. In our letter of motivation must be shown to the provider of scholarships that we are the right person to receive the scholarship. Although "selling themselves" but need diiingat that disclosed in the motivation letter is the truth without any deceptive elements of scholarship.

Tips to write motivation letter is as follows:
1. Read carefully the scholarship website. We must study in detail the information available on the website is mainly about the scholarships that we are applying. Scholarship purposes, targets and requirements and other things we need to understand.

2. Think back to the academic background, research and our professional experience and choose in accordance with specified requirements.

3. Remember that the motivation is different for every application letter scholarship that we propose to adjust the goals, targets and requirements for scholarship.

4. Write in the draft and then print and read again. Do this repeatedly to fix the letter. The explanation must be coherent and logical. By repeatedly correcting the quality of a post will be increased and unnecessary mistakes such as writing or gramatik error will be minimal or nonexistent.

This paper is intended for beginners to preparation for a scholarship abroad S2/S3. For those who already perpengalaman please add the information. The following tips are general scholarship, for the scholarship-specific scholarships have different characteristics.

1. Language

The first time we have to learn English, minimum TOEFL to go to Europe and most other negara2 550 (paper-based TOEFL). Language requirements can not be negotiable. In countries with English common wealthnya reqiurements sometimes language is often higher than 550. Assistanships Teaching (TA), Research Assistanships (RA), and the Fellowships are the general form of scholarships awarded directly by the university.

To get one of these three types of scholarship, applicants simply apply directly to the selected universities. Here are some points that must be considered to increase the odds of getting the scholarship.

First, make sure the selected universities provide financial assistant to students. This information can be found at the university admission from the web. Large universities usually provide financial assistant, but not always. That's because, it is necessary to ensure first before registering. Because our goal to find scholarships, schools that do not provide meaningful can skip.

Second, after the university determined to provide scholarships, next is to find information any costs incurred. Some schools bear all expenses including living expenses and tuition costs, but some may just bear separohnya. If not described on the web, another way to find information that is asked directly to the admission by exchanging emails.

Third, see the registration requirements which must be prepared. Broadly speaking, this is almost the same enrollment requirements: diploma, transcripts, letters of recommendation (2-3 pieces), TOEFL, GRE, statement of purpose, and pay the registration fee. But it still needs to ascertained.

Fourth, contact the professor who has the same field of research with us. If the professor does not know which ones need to be contacted, just write an email to the chairman of the department. The Chevening Scholarship is a scholarship from the British government (UK) funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and administered by the British Council. This scholarship is awarded to graduate students from various countries around the world including Indonesia. Those chosen will be studying in the UK.

The British Chevening Awards General Information & Requirements

General
A prestigious programme funded by the British Government (Foreign and Commonwealth Office) and administered by the British Council.
Over 1000 scholarships awarded in Indonesia since 1984.
This year up to 35 full scholarships are offered for one year Master degrees.
Courses at various universities and professional institutions in the UK including courses in media, finance, economics, politics, law, management, engineering, gender, environment, democracy etc.
A very competitive scheme. Only the best applicants are invited for further test and interview.
Employees, employee’s relatives (or former employees who have left employment less than two years before) of the FCO (Foreign Commonwealth Office), including FCO posts, the British Council and the sponsor will not be eligible to apply for these awards.

Excellent first degree with minimum GPA 3.0.

The Selection process
Initial selection is based on the quality of the written application. You do not need to attach any documents with the application form.
Successful applicants will be notified and invited for an English test/interview in January 2008.
The English test and interviews will be held in Jakarta, Surabaya, Medan and Makassar.
The results of the interviews will be announced by letter.
Candidates achieving an IELTS score of at least 6.5, and who are accepted by a UK university for an appropriate subject (approved by the Embassy) will be awarded a full scholarship.
English language training is included as part of the scholarship (only if required). Candidates from outside Jakarta are supported during the period of the course.
Whilst undergoing English language training in Jakarta, candidates are briefed by British Embassy and British Council staff and are given guidance on course selection and application procedures.
The academic year in the UK commences in September/October. After completing the English courses (around May) candidates are normally advised to return to their employment. The British Council then keeps in touch with candidates about their departure arrangements. Further briefing on the departure arrangements is provided one month prior to departure.
The final number of scholarships granted is determined by the British Embassy.

Eligibility

To be eligible, you must be:

an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humanitarian visa, or an international student, and intending to enrol full-time in the Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree majoring in accounting or finance at a Monash campus in Australia.
