The article below explains how to recover deleted email in Outlook 2010

Microsoft Outlook 2010 comes built in with an option to recover emails permanently deleted, even after the Deleted Items folder is emptied.

For this to work, you need to have an IMAP email account. i.e: you need to be connected to a Microsoft Exchange Server. If you have a POP3 account this feature might not work but you are welcome to follow the steps below.

How to recover deleted items:

- Click the Deleted Items folder (see below)

- Now click the Folder button in the ribbon menu and click the Recover Deleted Items button (see below)

You will now see a list of deleted email. Simple select the ones you want and click Recover Selected Items

NOTE: If your Recover Deleted Items icon is greyed out then follow the steps below to enable it:

- Press Windows key + R (This will bring up the Run dialog)

- In the Run dialog box type regedit and press Enter

- Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Exchange\Client\Options

- On the right hand window pane you will see a few string values. Ignore them. Right-click anywhere in the white space and select New->DWORD Value

- Type in DumpsterAlwaysOn as the DWORD's name. Now double-click on DumpsterAlwaysOn and change the value to 1 [See pic below]

You can now close the Registry Editor window.

How to recover deleted items in Microsoft Outlook 2003

This article explains how to how to recover deleted items in Microsoft Outlook 2003.

Microsoft Outlook 2003 has a feature that lets you recover your deleted items after you've emptied your Deleted Items folder. If you click on the Tools menu, you'll see a Recover Deleted Items option. You will find though, that the option is often greyed out. This can be a real pain if you've just mistekenly deleted an item. Here's how to enable the option:

- Close Microsoft Outlook 2003

- Press Windows key + R (This will bring up the Run dialog)

- In the Run dialog box type regedit and press Enter

- Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Exchange\Client\Options

- On the right hand window pane you will see a few string values. Ignore them. Right-click anywhere in the white space and select New->DWORD Value

- Type in DumpsterAlwaysOn as the DWORD's name. Now double-click on DumpsterAlwaysOn and change the value to 1 [See pic below]

You can now close the Registry Editor window.

- Open Microsoft Outlook 2003. Click Tools->Recover Deleted Items

If you want to learn how to hide hard drives in Windows XP/Vista/7 then you've come to the right place. This article explains how to achieve just that.

If you have sensitive or important data stored on a particular disk drive that you don’t want anyone to see, a great way to hide it is to remove the drive letter assigned to a particular mounted volume. With Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 you can hide hard drives easily using nothing more than the Command Prompt. Here's how:

- Click Start >> Run (This brings up the Run dialog box)
- Type cmd and press Enter (This brings up the Windows Command Prompt)
- Type diskpart in the command prompt and press Enter (This launches the Diskpart utility within the Command Prompt window)
- Now type list volume (This displays a list of all mounted volumes on your computer and their associated drive letters)

- Using the above picture as reference, if, for example, you would like to hide drive E, type select volume 6

- Now type remove letter E (Note: This sometime requires a reboot)

Diskpart will now remove the drive letter. The drive will no longer be available via Windows Explorer or My Computer.

Don’t worry though, your data remains safe!

Now, should you want to unhide the drive and make it accessible again, just repeat the above process. But instead of typing remove letter E, type assign letter E

How to fix "BOOTMGR is missing" in Windows Vista

Find yourself receiving "BOOTMGR is missing, Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart" message in Windows Vista? Don't stress! Its easier to fix than you think. Here's how:

SOLUTION 1

- Get your Vista installation DVD and pop it into your drive.
- Then restart your computer.
- Set your computer to boot from DVD or CD in your BIOS.

Vista will ask you for language and keyboard layout information, after which you will be asked if you want to re-install Vista or repair your existing installation.
Select Repair. After which Vista's System Recovery Tool will start.

Select Startup Repair and let Vista do its thing! That really is all there is to it to resolve BOOTMGR is missinf in Windows Vista.

If that doesn't work try this:

SOLUTION 2

If the previous method does not resolve the problem, you can rebuild the BCD store by using the Bootrec.exe tool in the Windows Recovery Environment. To do this, follow these steps:

- Get your Vista installation DVD and pop it into your drive.
- Then restart your computer.
- Press a key when you are prompted.
- Select a language, a time, a currency, and a keyboard or another input method, and then click Next
- Click Repair your computer
- Click the operating system that you want to repair, and then click Next
- In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Command Prompt
- Type bootrec /rebuildbcd and then press ENTER

• If Bootrec runs successfully, it will present you with the installation path of a Windows directory. To add the entry to the BCD store, type Yes . A confirmation message appears that indicates the entry was added successfully.

• If Bootrec cannot locate any missing Windows installations, you must remove the BCD store, and then you must re-create it. To do this, type the following commands in the order shown below: (Remember to press ENTER after each command)

bcdedit /export C:\BCD_Backup

ren c:\boot\bcd bcd.old

bootrec /rebuildbcd

- Restart the computer.

How to cleanup, maintain and repair Microsoft Outlook 2007/2010 using switches

Microsoft Outlook can sometimes be a strange beast. It often presents itself with strange errors and quirks that can be a real pain. Luckily for us Microsoft has built-in ways to deal with most of these issues.

- Close Microsoft Outlook.

- Press WinKey + R to bring up the Run dialog box.

- Type outlook.exe followed by a space and then the switch that you wish to run. (See example below)

Switches you can use to clean up your Outlook are:

/cleanfinders – to remove Search Folders from the Microsoft Exchange mailbox.

/cleanfreebusy – to clear and recreate free/busy information. (Note: To use this switch, you must be able to connect to the Exchange server)

/cleanprofile – to remove invalid profile keys and regenerate default registry keys. 

/cleanreminders – to clear and recreate reminders. /cleanrules – to delete rules on the client and server. 

/cleanserverrules – to delete rules on the server only. 

/cleansharing – to remove all subscriptions from Account Settings. (This will not remove any downloaded content) 

/cleanviews – to restore default views, custom views are removed.

How to log into multiple GMAIL accounts on the same computer

Google's Gmail is a hugely popular free email service. So much so, that people often have more than a single account. If you access these accounts predominantly via your web browser then switching between GMail account involves a log out from one account and log in to another. Of course you can get around this by installing different browsers on your computer and using a different browser to log in to each account. There's one word for all this....cumbersome.

Fortunately though there are always smarter alternatives. In this case, a simple Greasemonkey script for Firefox that you can use to switch between your various Gmail accounts.

Follow these simple steps:

- Launch Firefox

- Install the Greasemonkey add-on by going here

- Install the Google Account Multiple Login script by going here (The end result is below)

How to delay sending an email in Outlook 2010

- In the Email Message window, click the Options tab

- Then click Delay Delivery (see picture below)

- In the Properties window ensure that Do not deliver before is ticket and select the desired send date and time from the calendar drop-down.

- Click Close and Send.

- Your message will now sit in the Outbox and will be sent at the selected date and time.

How to Recover permanently deleted files in Windows XP/Vista/7/8 using Free Software (freeware)

Nearly every computer user has had the unfortunate experience of mistakenly deleting important files in Windows XP, 2000, Vista, 7 and emptying the Recycle Bin. Once the Recycle Bin has been emptied there is no native way within Windows to restore these files.

The deleted data may no longer be visible from within Windows Explorer as the reference to their location in directory structure is removed. The space once occupied now becomes available to write more data resulting in increased free space on your hard drive.

Fortunately this deleted data isn't gone for good. The deleted files can be restored, but this can ONLY be done if new data hasn't already overwritten the space once occupied by the previously deleted files.

Enter file recovery software. The list below contains five freeware programs that can recover permanently deleted files:

How to fix "Delete Prior Email" not deleting on Blackberry phones

A useful feature found under Messages on Blackberry devices is the Delete Prior function. When selected all email prior to the date you select gets wiped from your Blackberry smartphone. Sometimes though, when you select Delete Prior no email or messages get deleted.

Asking around, most people suggest a battery pull or failing that, a wipe of the phone. There is a less drastic fix. Follow these steps:

- On your Blackberry, go to Messages

- Press the Menu key and go to Options

- Go to General Options

- Set Hide Filed Messages to Yes

- Press the Menu key and click Save

- Go back to Messages. You should now be able to Delete Prior emails

How to fix: "Your message wasn’t delivered because of security policies in Exchange 2007 and Exchange 2010"

When you’re trying to send an email to a distribution group in Microsoft Exchange 2007 or Microsoft Exchange 2010, the following error may be returned:

Delivery has failed to these recipients or distribution lists
Your message wasn’t delivered because of security policies in Exchange 2007. Microsoft Exchange will not try to redeliver this message for you. Please provide the following diagnostic text to your system administrator.

This error occurs when external users (i.e. people outside your organisation) attempt to send email to an internal distribution group. By default, Exchange only allows authenticated users (i.e. logged in domain users) to send email to a distribution group.

To allow external users (i.e. people outside your organisation) to send email to your distribution group follow these steps:

- Open the Exchange Management Console

- Expand Recipient Configuration

- Click Distribution Group

- Double-click the distribution group that you want to allow external users to send to.

- Click the Mail Flow Settings Tab

- Double-click Message Delivery Restrictions

- Untick “Require that all senders are authenticated“ (See pic below)

- Click OK

- You can now close Exchange Management Console

How to disable Auto Sleep mode in Windows 7

One of the new default features of Windows 7 is the "automatically sleep mode" which puts your system into sleep mode after just 10 minutes. While its a handy power saving feature, it can get a bit annoying.

Here's how to disable or modify automatic sleep mode in Windows 7:

- Navigate to the Control Panel

- If you are using Category mode then change to Small icons (see picture below)

- Once you've changed to Small icons, click Power Options (this brings up the window below)

- Balanced (Recommended) should be selected by default. Click Change plan settings (as per the picture above)

- Click the drop down box next to Put the computer to sleep and select your desired option. I personally set my computer to Never

How to turn on or test a Power Supply (PSU) without a PC/Motherboard

You can quiet easily test a computer power supply (PSU) without the need for it to be connected into a computer. Simply follow these steps:

- Take a spare piece of wire about 6cm to 8cm long, strip the ends and bend it in a "U" shape.

- Place one end of the wire in the slot connected to the green wire and the other end in a slot connected to a black wire (There are usually multiple black wires. You can use any of them)

- Plug in the power cord into the back of the power supply. If the power supply comes on without any incident then your PSU is working. If it doesn't then you know it is broken and you can go out and buy a new one.

How to Disable Office Upload Center 2010

The Upload Center is used whenever you save documents to SkyDrive and SharePoint. It manages uploading docs and synchronizing changes to them. If you never save/edit/share documents on SkyDrive or SharePoint then you won’t use this feature and can disable it.

The original question asked was how to disable the upload center using the OCT. That can’t be done. To disable the Office 2010 Upload Center you can run msconfig, click “Startup” and remove the check next to “Microsoft Office 2010” that references MSOSYNC.EXE”

You can also you can edit the registry to get rid of Upload Center.

- Launch regedit
- Navigate to this key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

- Delete the OfficeSyncProcess entry that points to the current location of MSOSYNC.EXE

How to change the login mode for a BlackBerry Internet Service account (OS5)

To change from Automatic Login mode to "requiring a user name and password" and to use a computer browser to access the BlackBerry Internet Service, follow these simple steps:

- Press the Menu button on your Blackberry

- Open Setup >> E-mail Settings

- Press the Menu key and click Create User Name

- You may be prompted with a screen stating that this is a permanent change. This change allows access using a computer browser as well as the BlackBerry smartphone.

- Click Next

- Enter a user name and password of your choice and click Next

You should now be able to log in to the wireless service provider specific web site using the username and password to access the BlackBerry Internet Service account from a computer browser.

This article explains how to resolve the "Installer encountered an error: 0x80070422" error that sometimes occurs when trying to install an update manually downloaded from Microsoft or via Windows Automatic Update.

- Open a Run dialog box and (Win key + R) and type services.msc and press Enter

- Ensure the following services are started:

Background Intelligent Transfer Service
DCOM Server Process Launcher
Windows Update

- If the above services are not started, right click on each one and click Start (as per the picture below)
