According to Garmin, the BMW Motorrad Navigator IV takes the best of Garmin’s navigation technology and adds exclusive, BMW specific features such as a customized mount, preloaded BMW dealer database, unique audio and Bluetooth handling capabilities, and more.

This portable, 4.3-inch navigator has a bright touchscreen display that is glove-friendly and comes preloaded with detailed street maps with millions of points of interest that include locations like restaurants, gas stations, ATMs, hotels and specific street addresses. After the rider selects a destination, the system calculates the best route and gives turn-by-turn, voice-prompted directions to the final destination.

This feature can also work with a compatible Bluetooth enabled helmet or headset. The BMW Motorrad Navigator IV’s stereo (A2DP) Bluetooth wireless technology makes it possible for riders to pair their phone to a Bluetooth enabled helmet or handset so that they can safely talk on the phone or listen to MP3’s without having to remove their gloves or helmet.
The Honda Powersports homepage features details on the DN-01, a motorcycle described by Honda as combining elements of sport bike performance, relaxed cruiser comfort and the operating ease of a twist-and-go automatic transmission.

According to Honda, the DN-01 is organically styled and features aerodynamic bodywork draws inspiration from Honda sport bikes and sport tourers.

The DN-01's long wheelbase allows for a low seat height and the sense of comfort and stability. The 700-class V-twin providespower through a hydromechanical automatic transmission.

The advanced hydromechanical automatic transmission, called the HFT, is the first of its kind employed on a modern motorcycle. This transmission automatically and seamlessly changes drive ratios to produce smooth acceleration.
The resounding answer was five million," said Benny Suggs, General Manager of the Harley Owner's Group. "Many of our members will be returning home from the CLUB H.O.G. OKC rally in Oklahoma City on that Monday, so we expect a big turnout this year, but more important than the number of miles ridden is for all our members to simply get out and ride somewhere on Monday, June 29. Whether it's 20 miles, 100 miles, 500 miles, or more, the important thing is to get on your bike and go."

H.O.G.'s annual Million Mile Monday ride occurs on the last Monday of June and is open to all H.O.G. members-- riders or passengers. The feat will be recorded by logging into the club's exclusive members-only website (members.hog.com), where participants can register their miles ridden on that day. "Motorcycles and scooters consume less resources per mile than automobiles, and they take up less space in parking areas and on roads. Rider's seek employer support for this efficient form of transportation, and more government and public awareness about ridings many benefits," states Andy Goldfine, the program organizer.
Motorcycling and scootering clubs around the world encourage their members to ride to work on this annual day.
Across the country, Ducati dealerships out performed direct competitors in the annual benchmarking study measuring how consumers are treated when shopping for a new motorcycle.

Ducati reports over the last three years, Ducati dealers have worked hard to consistently improve the dealership ‘experience’ and now lead all brands in overall satisfaction and commitment to service. While some other brands are retreating, Ducati continues a program of dealership improvements and has added coverage to its dealer network in key markets including Atlanta, Newport Beach and Sacramento.
This award confirms that we are making good progress.”
The PSI award gauged Ducati dealerships from 2008 to 2009, where Ducati led all brands in more than 30 percent of the sales process factors evaluated by the study.
Wisconsin or Sturgis?

Photo Source: Hupy and Abraham, S.C.

Former state Sen. Dave Zien made history after riding one million miles on a Harley-Davidon motorcycle.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports on the controversy over where the famous million-mile bike should be displayed.

Should the bike go to the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum and Hall of Fame or the state of Wisconsin?

According to the story, the bike was sent to Sturgis because that museum featured a display on Zien and had inducted him into its hall of fame, but the Wisconsin Historical Museum wanted to have the bike.

Over the Harley's million mile journey, the bike's engine was replaced twice and overhauled or refurbished nine times, and went through 105 rear tires and nine seats.
According to Ducati, despite adverse market conditions, Ducati is attracting a bigger share of the market than ever before.

"Ducati has come a long way in the last couple of years,” said Michael Lock CEO of Ducati North America. “We have introduced business improvements, developed market leading bikes, dominated international road racing and are very focused on the needs of our growing customer base. All of these factors have greatly contributed to our growing sales and market share success across the U.S."

In 20 of the country’s most important metropolitan markets Ducati stands apart from its competitors by maintaining more than 10 percent of the key Sport and Streetbike sales in each market. Nationwide, the brand captures 5.8 percent of sales in its competing sectors. This historic high has been strongly influenced by the success of the brand’s iconic Monster family and its world-class Superbike family.

The introduction of the highly anticipated Streetfighter gives Ducati a chance to take its performance and visibility to the next level and further achieve its objective of becoming a significant player in the U.S. Sportbike market.
Approximately 3,000 examples of the 2009 CVO Road Glide will be produced by a team of highly skilled technicians in a special assembly area at the Harley-Davidson York Vehicle Operations facility in York, Pa..

The 2009 model will be the third edition of a Road Glide model from the CVO group. This motorcycle first appeared in 2000 and made a splash with its distinctive, slashing Screamin’ Eagle head on each side of its VR Racing Orange fairing.

The CVO Road Glide rolls on the same all-new chassis that underpins all 2009 Harley-Davidson Touring models, based on a redesigned frame and swingarm for enhanced maneuverability. The new Touring chassis also incorporates a new motor-mount system that reduces engine shake at idle, a new 2-1-2 exhaust system with a one-piece front exhaust shield, and a new 180 mm Dunlop Multi-Tread rear tire that offers longer tread life and 27 percent more luggage payload.

The headlight area is revised with new trim that discards the clear headlight cover used on the regular-production Road Glide. New headlight lenses are hardened. The fairing is topped with a black, low-profile wind deflector and trim assembly.

The new Touring exhaust system creates more space between the passenger and the exhaust pipe, producing less heat. The new frame increases passenger leg room behind the calves by about 5/8 inch. Brembo brakes with ABS are standard equipment, as is cruise control, two-speaker AM/FM/WB/CD/MP3 Advanced Audio System by Harman /Kardon, and air-adjustable rear suspension.

A chrome tank console has a push-button fuel door and a new insert with the CVO logo. The hand and foot controls are from the Rumble Collection, with matching mirrors, saddlebag latches and passenger footpegs.

The 2009 CVO Road Glide is available in three color combinations: Yellow Pearl with Charcoal Slate, Stardust Silver with Titanium Dust, and Electric Orange with Vivid Black. A security system with smart siren, a CVO indoor cover and unique Harley-Davidson CVO gold ignition key with display box are included.

Source: Harley-Davidson and TopSpeed.com Image Credit: Harley-Davidson

RESOURCES

Harley-Davidson Homepage

Harley CVO Road Glide on the Harley-Davidson homepage

Harley-Davidson CVO Road Glide on Cycle Trader

Thousands Of Female Riders Help Harley-Davidson Kick Start Women Riders Month

Harley-Davidson reports Women Riders Month kicked-off with two special events in New York City and Milwaukee respectively in honor of International Female Ride Day on May 1, which was founded by Vicki Gray of Motoress.com.

Nearly 100 female motorcycle enthusiasts, including Karen Davidson, the great-granddaughter of one of the Motor Company's founders, as well as trainer and life coach Jillian Michaels, attended an International Female Ride Day party near New York City. Country music singer Krista Marie led nearly 300 women on a special ride from Miller Park to the Harley-Davidson Museum in Milwaukee.

In addition to current riders hitting the road to celebrate, 1,225 women participated in new rider training the first weekend in May, either through Harley-Davidson's Rider's Edge New Rider Course hosted at select dealerships across the country or through the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) Basic RiderCourseSM, to help establish a world record for the number of women trained in one weekend.

Harley-Davidson's Rider's Edge New Rider Course saw a 59 percent increase in women participation this year, compared to the same weekend last year. This activity supports a larger goal of encouraging 100,000 women to learn to ride a motorcycle.

"The successful rides, as well as the record-setting weekend for rider training, show that thousands of women are taking the controls and learning to ride their very own motorcycles," said Leslie Prevish, women's outreach manager, Harley-Davidson.
