Family photography for 16? | Everett’s Best Family Photographer

No problem.

Meet the Kalahar family! We met up last Sunday morning in Stanwood at Kayak Point State Park. You know, Sunday? The day that it rained and poured and blew and was 54 degrees? Yep, that day. Waking up that morning, I took one peek out our bedroom window and my heart sunk.

It was absolutely miserable out.  Still, I made my way up to Stanwood and called Donna on my way up there. I delivered the bad news and estimated an 85% chance that the photo shoot that we had been planning for 3+ months and had people driving over from Eastern Washington for was not going to happen.

However, He had other plans for us. About 1.5 miles from the park I could see BLUE skies in the direction I was heading. The cove area where we did the shoot was the only place where it was not gray and misty. Cold? Yes. Windy? Yes. But dry. Everyone, all 16 people, fared very well and we ROCKED their shoot.

A hammock & a vintage camera | Everett’s best child photographer

The best thing about having nieces? You can dress them up, build them a wispy hammock ‘fort’ and go to town and they LOVE it. And I didn’t even ask my sister’s permission first -SURPRISE!

I do have a confession…

As I was disposing of a dead mouse that our dog caught (I know, gross,) Lauren, the baby, was still hanging out in the hammock. I figured that with the abundance of pillows and blankets there was NO WAY she would tumble out. Can you see where this is going? Well, upon my return from mouse disposal, Lauren leaned forward (because she wanted to be picked up is my guess) and…. fell. out. Onto her teensy little noggin.

Thus there are far more pictures of Madison than Lauren. Lo wasn’t in too much of a photo-takin’ mood. Poor girl.

Moral of the story? Take the baby out of the hammock. And a note to my clients… I am always WAY more careful with your kids than with my own. Enjoy.

Taking off in 3, 2, 1… | Everett’s Best Childrens Photographer

Starring Quinny as the Red Baron and Reiken as the Baron’s Bigger Brother.

The children of a photographer are notoriously challenging to photograph. By the age of one, they have usually grown tired of any silly-ness and noises to incite particular expressions and the bribing no longer works. Usually they have developed really attractive (not) ’smiles’ as soon as they see mommy’s camera coming along on an adventure and refuse to pose in any fashion.

Well, tonight I got a lucky 15 minutes out of my rugrats. Yes, all of these were shot in 15 minutes. Right about the 14 minute mark, Quinny dive-bombed (Bonzai!) off the chair and we were d-o-n-e, DONE. However, the images are purrrfect and I am very excited to order numerous standouts to fill my dining room of these images.

I just hope that in 10 years, Reiken doesn’t want to kill me for putting him in the (totally, cute I LOVE IT) vintage overalls.

For every amazingly breathtaking photo the boys gave me, I have about 15 of these lovely little out takes. I’ll have to keep working on them!

Congrats L&B! | Snohomish Wedding Photography

I have not seen a more graceful bride this season than my lovely bride, Lisa. Despite choosing one of the (historically) warmest months that the Pacific Northwest has to offer for her wedding, Mother Nature had other plans for Lisa and Brendan’s big day. Drizzly, gray and humid was on the menu and there wasn’t much anyone could do to change it. Thankfully, we were able to sneak in all of the formal photos outside prior to the mini-deluge, but the ceremony was moved inside at the last minute.

Didn’t faze Lisa. She was more excited at the prospect of marrying the man she loved than upset at the change of location. Great girl you have there, Brendan. The one part of the day that did go according to plan was their first dance. Much practice and many lessons later and they NAILED it. Bravo, newlyweds! Enjoy your sneak peek!!

We rocked it.

Amy and I, that is.  Her belly session is hands down one of THE best I have ever done. The images are perfection. Amy was a great model and I nailed it. (Yes, I am tooting my own horn a little but I am just SO EXCITED!)

A little background… Amy’s family and mine are inescapably entertwined. My hub’s parents are very good friends with Amy’s in-laws. They met at childbirth class when my MIL was pregnant with hubs and Amy’s MIL was pregnant with her daughter. Later on, Jeff and I rented a MIL apartment from Amy’s now hubs. My MIL now does the books for Amy’s MIL’s businesses: Main Street Kids Childcare and City Kids Consignment.

So, anyway, during our session I was pleased as peaches to not only meet a new client to to make a new (yet old) friend. And her pregnancy images ROCK. I’m sure you will agree…. Enjoy!

Congratulations A&L!

After a 4.5 hour drive home from my family vacation, two 2.5 hour ferry waits (really? a 2.5 hour wait at 10PM on a Saturday night??), and a 4.5 hour drive back to my family vacation, Luke and Annamarie said their ‘I do’s’ at The Inn at Port Hadlock on the western peninsula. The weather was perfect, the bride radiant and the groom long-suffering for all of our shots.

At the very end of the evening, Annamarie requested some fun and funky images of her friends. We started with a jump shot of 6 people and ended up with a jump shot that included every. single. person. left at the party. It was a blast! Enjoy the peek!

This baby girl may not have slept but 10 minutes of our 2.5 hour session but she did not cry or squeal once. She was an absolute cherub! Very awake and alert at 15 days but a complete joy. Parents, Dr. Jason and Dr. Marisa were on hand for our get together and were the best cheering squad a 2 weeker could ever ask for.

The best thing about this honey girl? Her skin! I did not have to retouch her lovely roses and cream skin AT ALL. No joke, no hyperbole, no exagerration. I took care of a little milk mouth but that was it. Her downy blond hair was a close second favorite and big blue eyes a not-far-behind third. The session summed up in one word? A pleasure. Undoubtedly. Enjoy her sneak peek!
