I make them pretty much once or twice a month, depending on how much good music comes out. 1. Jay-Z - Dirt Off Your Shoulder
Album: The Black Album

This song is the one for me. Please remember that this isn't the authoritative list of the greatest songs, but rather my personal favorites. When you talk about a song having all of the perfect parts, this is the blueprint. First, it's got Jay-Z, the Greatest Of All Time, on what MAY be his best album, in his prime. They call Jigga the "King Of Flows," and this song shows why. It also has the best beat from probably the best producerIf you haven't seen "Fade To Black", the Jay-Z live DVD, I highly recommend it. It has footage of him recording The Black Album with all of the greatest producers, and the scene of him recording "Dirt Off Your Shoulder" is the best. He basically walks into Timbo's studio, rejects a bunch of the beats he has lined up...until he hears this one. He knew a classic when he heard it. And this one is certainly a classic.

2. Outkast - Bombs Over Baghdad
Album: Stankonia
Year: 2000

This song held the top spot for me for a long, long time. I didn't think anything could ever topple this one...and Number One only beats this one by a hair. BOB is the perfect song because it appeals to everyone: fast, intricate raps for hip-hop heads, electric guitar for the rockers, and a bangin' beat for everyone that loves to hear a good ole' fashion rap tune. Outkast could be the greatest rap duo of all time, and the first single off of the fantastic Stankonia is their best song, in my humble opinion. I think I listened to this song like 76 times in a row when I first heard it. I wish that Andre would go back to rapping when thinking about this song. I feel bad even putting this at 2...it's really more of a 1A.

3. Juvenile ft. Mannie Fresh, Lil' Wayne - Back That Azz Up

Just the perfect Cash Money jam...and the one that started it all. Nobody really knew who Juvie was before this...sure, he had "Ha", but I don't think that people really took him seriously until this song. The thing that makes this song so great is its staying power. It came out 8 YEARS AGO...and if it came on in a club, it would STILL tear the roof off. You don't like this song for the insightful lyrics...you love it because it makes you want to shake yo ass, and thats fine with me.

4. Jay-Z - Izzo (H.O.V.A.)

What a great song. One of Kanye's first HUGE singles before anyone knew who Kanye was, Jigga in his prime and an unbelievable sample. Who knew that the Jackson 5 could bump so hard? This is just one of those prefect summer jams...I remember blasting this song the summer right before Freshman Year of college. One of the best songs from the G.O.A.T.

5. Dr. Dre ft. Eminem - Forgot About Dre
Album: 2001
Year: 1999

Truthfully, I thought that Eminem sucked before I heard this song. One listen of this changed all of that. Both Dre and Em kill this beat. I think this is probably Dre's best beat...which is certainly saying a lot. The part when Em comes in really is the high point of this song. But the beat is the best part of this song: simple string plucks, an electric guitar and futuristic drum patterns as well.

6. Black Rob - Whoa!

Who would've thought that Black Rob, a mediocre rapper from the dying days of the Bad Boy empire would have a song this high on the list. Not the most inventive rhymes ever and it gets repetitive...but I DARE you to sit there and NOT nod your head to this song.

7. Big Pun ft. Joe - Still Not A Player

Year: 1999

A fantastic song on so many levels. This song came out 7 years ago and would still bring down any club that it came on in. The beat is just unbelievable, Pun rips it and Joe's crooning fits the song perfectly. It really doesn't get much better than this for a party jam. When that beat comes on in the very beginning is pure magic. You nasty twin...I don't care.

8. Ludacris ft. Shawnna - What's Your Fantasy

I remember the first time I heard this song. It came out Senior year, and I wanted to see the video for "Bombs Over Baghdad" real bad, so I turned on "106 & Park". I figured "B.O.B." would have been #1 but noooooooooooooooo. This dude named Ludacris was on, and I was pissed. Little did I know that that song would become one of my favorite songs of all-time. Another rapper who totally kills their first song. One of those Dirty South jams that is real nasty, but you love it all the same.

The perfect Busta song. Simple, bangin' beat with Busta ripping it up double-time over it. Busta's flow really shines on this track. Ridiculous video, too. You all know this song and love it.

10. Kanye West ft. Twista, Jamie Foxx - Slow Jamz
Album: College Dropout
Year: 2004

Just an unbelievable song. Say what you want about Kanye as a dude, he cranks out some sweet songs. Nice contrasting styles with Kanye coming slow and Twista (of course) rapping fast. Throw Jamie Foxx, who before this was just an actor, on the hook and you've got a recipe for success.

Ludacris' flow is absolutely fantastic on this song. Put that with the blaring horns of a nasty Timbaland beat and you've got this wonderful classic. Luda does it all in this song; some parts fast, some parts slow. All parts awesome.

Although this probably isn't as well known as a lot of other J5 songs...it is everything that is great about them. You just get the feeling that these guys LOVE rapping. They love the fact that they are getting paid to do something as fun as that. Chali 2na DESTROYS this song, as always...I think that his verses in this song may be some of the best EVER.

You know how much I love Cash Money. I don't really care how ridiculous this song is. It's basically about Juvenile having coitus with his big "Oscar Mayer". It's also just a continuation of "Back That Azz Up". But I DON'T CARE. Juvey, and especially Mannie Fresh, kill this song. Just like Juvey's first hit, he drops the first two verses and Mannie bats clean up. If you love Cash Money, you love this song, bottom line.

The world's introduction to Curtis Jackson aka 50 Cent. I remember before this song came out, he had the biggest buzz maybe of all-time. He had Dr. Dre and Em in his corner who were both pulling for this kid who got shot 9 times. I didn't really know whether to believe it until I heard this song. He's put out a lot of stuff since this came out 3 years ago...but nothing will ever touch his first single. His flow fits what is probably Dre's best beat perfectly. Not a huge fan of 50, but this song will always do it for me.

STOP...DROP...SHUT EM DOWN OPEN UP SHOP...OH...NO...THATS HOW RUFF RYDERS ROLL. This song is so great in that it is just so simple. Swizz Beatz made this in like 7 minutes, added a dude saying, "WHAT!" every 3 seconds and gave it to Dark Man X. Still a song that could incite an absolute riot if played in the wrong place.

20. Jay-Z ft. U.G.K - Big Pimpin'
Album: Jay-Z - Vol. 3... Life and Times of S. Carter
Year: 1999

Ooh man, what is with this crazy beat. It is exotic. And who are these U.G.K. guys? Awesome. A song that just makes you wanna go out by the pool and chill baby. One of Timbaland's truly amazing beats, and Bun B and Pimp C absolutely tear this song apart.

19. Ja Rule - Holla Holla

Truly one of the great rap albums...it's a shame that Ja ended up being such a bitch. This song was just straight fire when it first came out. Great flow from Ja, spittin' those gritty rhymes over a ridiculous beat. Oh, that beat...real simple, but pretty much anyone could have had a hit with it.

18. Outkast - Ms. Jackson

"Never meant to make your daughter cry, I apologize a trillion times." A fantastic song that really showed a different side to Outkast. One of those absolutely unforgettable hooks, you will probably always remember this song.

17. Noreaga - Superthug

Even I'm surprised that I ranked this one that high...but I would seriosuly freak out if I just turned on the radio and this was randomly on. He made an entire hook of one word OVER AND OVER. But this is the Neptunes we are talking about. And this was the Neptunes' first mega-hit. And NORE's nonsense raps work just well enough for this one to be a classic.

16. Clipse - Grindin'

Year: 2002

Ohhhh boy. This is a beat that sounds like it took Pharrell about 8 minutes to make. There's no way that Chad was involved with this one, he wouldn't have let this thing leave the studio. I really wish that The Clipse would come out with some more stuff, because this song is one of the best. Even if it is all about dealing that yayo.

30. Jurassic 5 - What's Golden

This song was great when it came out because J5 hadn't put anything out in a while, and this song was just what I needed to fall in love with them again. Another unbelievable verse from Chali 2na.

29. The Game ft. 50 Cent - Hate It Or Love It
Album: The Documentary
Year: 2005

I could listen to this song for hours on end. Both 50 and Game rip this one...it's a shame that they want to kill each other because they were great together for the 6 months that they were in G-Unit together. The Cool & Dre beat is phenomenal.

28. Cam'ron ft. Juelz Santana - Oh Boy
Album: Come Home With Me
Year: 2002

This was the song that really jumped off Cam's popularity. He had some albums before this one...but this Just Blaze jam just blew him up. A lot of people probably think this song is mad annoying, but I love it. A major head-nodder.

27. Trick Daddy ft. Co, Deuce Poppito, Trina - Shut Up
Album: Book of Thugs: Chapter AK, Verse 47
Year: 2000

I remember the first time I ever heard this one...I was laying in bed listening to Power 102 (the greatest radio station of all-time) and this song comes on with these nasty-ass horns. One of those songs that when you hear it the first time, you run down to your computer to try and find it to download it. Quite possibly the dumbest hook of all time:

"Ah hah, okay, whassup? Shut up!"

26. Petey Pablo - Raise Up
Album: Diary of a Sinner: 1st Entry
Year: 2001

Rarely does an unknown rapper step up to the plate and kill their first single...but that's what Petey Pablo did. Granted, it's not incredibly difficult when you've got a nasty Timbaland beat behind you, but it was just such an impressive first song. Petey Pablo isn't really a great rapper, but he is very different, and I like that. NOT included on this list is the USA Remix where Petey calls out Bin Laden.

25. Three 6 Mafia ft. Young Buck, Eightball & MJG - Stay Fly
Album: The Most Known Unknown
Year: 2005

I've always loved Three 6. They know who they are, and they keep making the same crunk music. The beat on this song is so ridiculous, you can't hate on this jam. Throw in the other big dogs in Memphis, with the legendary Eightball & MJG and the new kid on the block Young Buck, and you've got a winner. Even if this song is all about being a huge burnout.

24. Master P ft. Fiend, Mia X, Mystikal, Silkk the Shockker - Make 'Em Say Uhh!
Album: Ghetto D
Year: 1997

You can't help but go crazy when this old school jam comes on. Most of the rappers on this one aren't that good...but they are good enough. Mystikal caps off the song with a KILLER verse. The video for this one was ridiculous too. Who can forget Master P riding a gold tank into a high school basketball gym or Mystikal sitting on the hoop rapping?

23. Timbaland and Magoo ft. Shaunte - Luv 2 Luv Ya
Album: Welcome To Our World
Year: 1997

This song proves that you just can't beat a Timbaland beat. Timbaland and Magoo are pretty average rappers, but that doesn't matter on this song. This was a HUGE jam back in the day.

22. Tupac ft. Dr. Dre - California Love
Album: All Eyez On Me
Year: 1996

I don't really need to say much about this song...it's one of the greatest songs of all time, you know it and I know it.

I thought that Juvenile might be a one hit wonder after "Back That Azz Up," but this song proved me totally wrong. He sticks with the simple formula of spitting a line and throwing something on the end of it (in this case, "ya undastand?" It works beautifully. One of the best Mannie Fresh beats ever.

40. Twista - Overnight Celebrity
Album: Kamikaze
Year: 2004

Twista and Kanye were an absoulte match made in heaven, and this song is the perfect example of that. For some reason, Twista's machine gun flow sounds fantastic over Kanye's soulful beats. Throw in Miri Ben-Ari on the strings, and this song is a classic.

39. Jurassic 5 - Quality Control
Album: Quality Control
Year: 2000

This jam is just on that old Beastie Boys type of feel-good vibe, where J5 just flips the verses back and forth on a real simple beat. Everyone loves Chali 2na (the dude with the low voice) but everyone brings their best to one of J5's most popular songs. But I will leave you with one of Chali's verses to think about:

A song that probably very few of you have actually heard unless you are as obsessed with Hov as I am. Trust me and download this one. Maybe I just love it so much because he came out with it after he "retired" and its just wishful thinking that he's gonna come back. And the thinly veiled jab at anyone who's come at him since he left is great is well. But it is an unbelivable song...and the best song on any Bleek album (who I enjoy) despite the fact that it's only Jigga on it.

Even though Swizz got sued for ripping this beat off his Casio keyboard...there are few beats that are better at getting you pumped up. This was one of those songs where you first heard it and were like, "holy shit, this song is crazy!" It's a shame that Drag didn't live up to the hype that he had after this song, but his fast flow is amazing on this song. Maybe the dirtiest hook ever.

Lovin' the jiggy beat on this one...it's just like "Breathe And Stop," in that it goes against everything that A Tribe Called Quest was. But you couldn't help but bump this song when it came out.

Mannie Fresh and Baby are not good rappers. Actually, Baby is downright terrible. But this song is everything that was wonderful about the Cash Money era. One of the more famous hooks in recent memory, and great Mannie Fresh beat and a great gimmicky flow pattern. Throw in the traditional sexual references, flossing money and the about-to-be quoted line, and you have a total winner.

The Blueprint may be my favorite album of all-time. Jigga does it all on his own...with the exception of this song with Em. This was one of those super-team combinations that people dreamed about but thought would never happen, but it did and this was the fantastic result. This song may be Em's best verses ever, and his beat more than holds its own. Also download the original with Royce Da 5'9'', which is nasty as well.

Busta always had these great albums despite having no-name producers on them, then he comes out with Genesis, which has Dre and Pharrell on the boards, and Busta comes with possibly his best ever album. Coincidence? I think not. This is one Dre's best beats ever in my opinion, and Busta's rapid-fire flow fits it to a T.

One of the things that I love the most about this song is how it builds...Big Boi kills it with pretty much just the drums and Andre nails the full beat on the second half. There really is no group like Outkast, and this is one of the best examples of thier trademark sound.

Busta should be remembered as one of the greatest of all time...but he won't. He just such a goofball. But he has been making albums for 15 years and is still ripping it today. Unbelievable fast flow over this beat that samples the Psycho theme.

Harold has been wanting to know where the Cash Money jams were, and this song is the beginning of them. Bling Bling is the absolute EPITOME of the Cash Money era...a song about jewels and bangin' broads. Nobody ever really thought that Cash Money were great rappers, I just love them because they know it, don't care, and keep making songs like this.

Oh boy. You gotta love this song. I remember the first time I heard it on Power 102 (RIP) and it was one of those songs where you wanted to rush right home and find out what the hell it was. These dudes took a sample from the most famous video game of all time and turned it into a blazing song.

Not much to really say about this song. This was 50's coming out party. Classic hook, great braggadocio rhymes.

I'm not a huge Em fan. I think he's had some great songs, but a bunch of them are the EXACT same song (see My Name Is, The Real Slim Shady, Without Me, Just Lose It.) I do think that Eminem is one of the all-time greats, but none of his songs really stick out for me, except this one. This song is what Shady does best: angry rhymes over a dark beat. Fantastic flow as well.

The return of Dr. Dre. 2001 was a great album despite the fact that the title was off by 2 years of its release date. Fantastic beat that carries some foul mouthed raps. Really, I just love this song because it reminds me of Rock Appiakorang.

DMX is one of my favorites, especially this song. This is just a classic street anthem. I listen to this one when I am working on the mainframe and I can run a mile in like 3:34.

90. The Lox ft. Eve, Timbaland - Ryde Or Die Bitch

I don't really like The Lox. I think Jadakiss is a fat, overrated rapper, Sheek Louch and Styles P blow. BUT, put them with a bangin' Timbaland beat, a catchy hook and make sure they flow JUST well enough, and gosh darn you've got one of my favorite songs.

A lot of you have probably never heard this song unless you picked up the Outkast double disc a few years back, and if you haven'tm you truly are missing out. Before I even heard this jam, when I saw that it had Big Boi and Jigga on it, you knew it was going be a classic. Throw Killer Mike's rapid fire flow, and you've got a winner. Listen to it just to hear Hov's nasty verse.

Not a huge fan of Wu-Tang together, but I love Meth, Ghostface, Raekwon, even the occasional ODB garbage. This song is a classic...some of the best flows I have ever heard. Not to mention a sweet video with them rapping on the set of the Flintstones movie.

I love this song because Biggie totally switches it up and raps double-time, and sounds even better than the always-rapid-fire Bone Thugs. A sweet, dark beat fits the theme to the song great, just a classic.

Naughty By Nature were one of the great rap groups of the 90s, and this may have been their flagship jam, with the exception of OPP. Treach is one of the most underappreciated rappers of all time in my opinion. Great, simple beat with a hook that will remind you of the old Kool-Aid commercials.

One of the great samples, used on a couple of songs. I think Mighty Mos is one of the great rappers of our time. He is just a classic b-boy. The best part of this song is Mos Def battling himself in a sped up voice at the end of the song.

From the trunk rattling beat to the discreet Eazy E sample, this song is a winner.

Another one of those Diddy All Star tracks. This song was absolute FIRE the summer of 2003. Nevermind that Diddy and Nelly aren't very good rappers, the flow is solid and the beat is total party time. Murphy Lee's verse is the best BY FAR, with a fantastic allusion to the Cash Money Era, or what I like to call the Golden Age of Humanity.

If this song doesn't make you excited, you are either dead or Doc after 400 G&t's last weekend.

Ahh, the rise and fall of Mystikal. This song was the absolute apex of the former No Limit soldier. Look at him: starts out as the crazy guy in No Limit, leaves them and hooks up with Pharrell and blows right up, then has sex with an underager and ends up in the clink. Just a silly ass shaking (pun intended) song that people will never forget.

96. Nick Cannon ft. R. Kelly - Gigolo

I don't even really know why I like this song so much. It defies all logic. Nick Cannon is not a rapper, but he does have a nice flow on this song, the beat is solid and R. Kelly's Doo Doo Butter hook is above average. Again, I understand if you hate this song, but I for some reason have always loved it.

I love Shyne. People hate on him for sounding like Biggie, but I don't think it's that close. Shyne is friggin solid as a rapper, and he's got a nice flow on a slower beat. He was the beginning of the end of the Bad Boy Dynasty, but I don't think he gets enough credit. That, and he is going to kill Diddy when he gets out jailski.

93. The Game ft. Timbaland - Put You On The Game

I think the Game is a weird dude, he has a butterfly tat on his face, he was a dude stripper and was on a dating show. I don't care, The Documentary was a fantastic album. This song is everything that is right in the world: sweet Timbo beat, great flow from Game. Game is gonna be around for a long time folks, especially as long as he hooks up with greats like Dre and Timbaland.

92. T.I. - Rubberband Man
Album: Trap Muzik
Year: 2003

T.I., the self-proclaimed King Of The South. Great beat from David Banner on this song, even if it is a little repetitive. It's one of those songs that people know, with a good, memorable hook. Also, I am a rubberband man.

"Grand hustle man mo' hustles than hustle man
But why the rubber band? it representin' the struggle man"

91. Scarface - My Block
Album: The Fix
Year: 2002

Before T.I., there was Scarface. I love this song, it's got one of those cool laid back beats that you just gotta nod your head to. Scarface has one of the all-time best voices in rap as well. Love this song.

Sorry about the delay folks, but I have been working on cutting down to 100 from over 5000 songs that I have on my computer. I know, 5000 is waaaay too many, but I've gotten the list down to 375, and will have it down to 100 by the end of the week.

I wanted to go over some of the rules for this list so we all understand what it is about. It is a subjective list, just my opinion. The list isn't what the general public thinks i.e. Number One is, without a doubt, the greatest rap song of all time. The list is dependent on a few factors, such as how bangin' the beat is, how solid the flow is, but most importantly, something called the OSF.

The OSF is the "Oh shit" Factor. You know there are songs that if you hear it on the radio, or at a bar and you aren't expecting that make you just say "oh shit!' Most of these are songs that everyone knows, with a few personal favorites that you may not know. Once the list is completed, all of the songs will be available for download.

Please be patient, it's gonna take me a while to cut it down to 100, then sort it all out as well.
