The Cuddle Buddy

I think we can all agree, sometimes you need a good fuck. But how many out there just need a good cuddle? I live for cuddling. And don't get me wrong, I love sexy times as much as the next guy - and ideally I want both - but lately I just want someone in my bed to watch a movie with. The problem is, the channels in which to find this are scarce. Most guys online or on the street are looking to get off, and again, that's needed, but I just want someone to stay afterwards and hang out for a bit. But this is easier said than done. For one, personalities don't always mesh. You can have incredible mind blowing sex and then, well, then things can go terrifyingly awkward. Doesn't make sense, but it happens. And you can't just call someone over for a cuddle that you haven't met yet. Groundwork needs to be laid, drinks or food need to be shared, and then maybe cuddles are appropriate. Above all else, you can't call exes to cuddle. You just can't. You can call an ex for sex (though, still not a great idea), but a cuddle is out of the question. Mostly because cuddles can sometimes be more intimate than sex. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but oftentimes I feel closer to someone when cuddling than I do when boning. Which again makes finding a random cuddle so damn hard. I'd love to have a little black book of cuddles, but even that seems difficult to fill. As previously stated, plucking a stranger out of the blue to cuddle just won't do and it takes all the fun out of it if you don't know the guy.

I dated someone this summer and after a few starts and stops we decided to do the cuddle buddy thing. We'd meet every Sunday, have dinner at his place or mine, make out and then watch Dexter wrapped in each other's arms. It was really something wonderful. But sadly, seeing each other on a regular basis and with intimacy more along the lines of a couple, the strings we said would not be attached ended up in mess of a tangle. And now with no dates on the horizon, I don't want to just meet someone and fuck, and so I'm in search of this elusive cuddle buddy.

We've talked about the fuck buddy here before and the different interpretations of intimacy, but what's your take on the situation. Is a cuddle buddy something that can be found and kept? Or is it just an inherently complicated relationship that's not meant to exist?

Going to the gym is hard. Staying motivated, reaching your goals, keeping things interesting: makes it even harder. I'm trying my best this winter to not hibernate and pack on the pounds, even though December kind of did me in. But Spring is just around the corner, which means Summer shirtless-ness is inevitable.

The Gayest Super Bowl Ever!

I don't think anyone ever thought Madonna and the Super Bowl would ever be mentioned in the same sentence. But here we are, eagerly awaiting her Madgesty's half time performance. Now I have two confessions to make and one might make you clutch your pearls:

1. Unless I'm at a live game or playing myself, I don't really care for watching football. (no need to clutch here)
2. I don't really care about Madonna. (you may clutch)

I appreciate her, like I appreciate football, but at the end of the day she doesn't do much for me. I think I'm missing the Madonna gene. But all that being said I am excited to see what she brings to the half time show. And before I get an earful, her contributions to pop music are undeniable and I do like her. I just don't live for her like many a gay do.

But back to the Bowl, as a New Yorker, I'm team Giants this year (but being a Philly boy, the Eagles will always be my most hearted team). If we were to base the game solely on each teams aggregated looks I'd have to give to the Patriots. And that's even if you took out Tom Brady, who, in keeping with the theme of this post, also does little me. There I said it.

So let's hear from the DH masses, who's your money on? And if you had to pick a locker room to hang out in, which would it be?

Back Hair To Basics

We talk about hair on here quite a bit. And with good reason, as men we're either finding it in new places or losing it in others. As a hairy Hungarian/Russian mix, I've been dealing with my hairy roots since puberty. It wasn't until later on in high school when the pride I felt for being hairy in all the right places, quickly shifted to embarrassment. You see the hair I had come to know and love began to creep it's way down my back. To me this was something I could never be proud of, so from that point on I Naired, Shaved, Waxed and Veeted my back to baby bottom smoothness.

But as I've gotten older I've started to care less about manscaping, and handled my hirsuteness with a more hands off approach. For one, I've embraced the bear in me and come to accept that a heavily haired body is a beautiful one. Mostly though, I'm lazy. The upkeep on my facial hair alone was enough for me to accept a beard as an extension of my body. As for my back, the sizable difference in surface area and the fact that it's hard to reach, see, and treat it's just about enough for me to give up on it all together. At least in the Winter. When Summer comes, I usually rely on the kindness of other to help me keep it under control.

Of all the men, both friends and lovers, I've come across, most I know end up shaving, waxing, (or if they can afford it) get laser treatment. The latter of which I hope to someday partake in. I've seen the results and it seems like a hairless breeze. But then there a few men who fully embrace their hairy back. And I have to wonder, with chest hair coming back into fashion once again, will back hair ever be? Will their ever be a day when a full haired back is thought of as sexy by all? My gut says no, but I've seen plenty of jaw-droppingly handsome men who have a back that's hairy and it doesn't hurt them one bit. But I guess it depends on what you like on others and yourself.

When it comes to back hair should we keep it clean or embrace our australopithecus ancestry?

I love it when artists enter into different mediums. Especially when it's for a good cause. Victoria Bennet's 2012 calendar, "The Naked Muse" features photographs of male poets taken by female photographers to raise money for Type 1 diabetes. The black-and-white nudes were taken to illustrate poems about the topic of the male muse.

Take a look at these artful nudes, and if you're feeling so inclined purchase the calendar and contribute to their fundraising.

And while we're on the subject, how many of you out there would or have taken professional nudes of yourself. And if so do you hang them at home or use them mainly for your online profiles. Get Gay Married! It's Good For You!

If being able to get gay married in Washington wasn't enough to make you happy, how about this news: apparently being able to get married is quite the boost to older gay men and their mental health.

Having a committed and legally recognized spouse or domestic partner has proven to ease the stress many elderly gay men feel, which includes financial fears and age discrimination. "[The study] shines a light on the mental health of a generation of gay men who survived the early years of the AIDS crisis and came of age on the heels of the gay rights movement," Williams Institute scholar and researcher Richard G. Wight, Ph.D., said in a statement Thursday. "Whether legal marriage benefits mental health within same-sex couples in the way it has been proven to benefit different-sex couples deserves much more empirical attention, particularly given that same-sex marriage is not available in most states and was only briefly available in California in 2008.'"

Just another reason gay marriage needs to be on a faster track to legalization.

Just another reason to move to Australia. Dan Murray, a model-esque underwear designer from Australia, shows off his collection and some seriously sexy models on an Australian morning show in the video below. His line, Sly Underwear, runs the gamut in terms of design (and taste), but they're all kinds of fun. Be sure to check out both the model and the actual underwear modeled after a pair of jeans. In my internet travels today, I came across this video from Perfume Genius featuring Arpad Miklos.

It's the debut single from his new album, Put Your Back N 2 It and I think I kind of liked it. But that's not what we're here to talk about today. Most of us in the Daddy/Bear community love and lust after Arpad - no secret there. What makes this video special and creepy to me is at the 1:36 mark. Because here it goes folks: I once had a wet dream about Freddy Krueger. Yes, horribly disfigured, movie monster, fingers-for-knives Freddy Krueger. So to see Arpad in the mask and glove creeps me out to the nth degree...because Arpad is hot...Freddy is not...and now my penis is confused. But there's my embarrassing sex dream confession to you all. I hope you'll do me a solid here and share your embarrassing sex dream stories and any other oddities you feel like confessing today.

Mr. SoCal Leather Returns!

Did you know that the Mr. SoCal Leather title that has not been offered since 1997? Well the Mr. SoCal Leather competition is back and this year they expect a bigger turnout than ever for the newly updated version of this legacy leather contest. Back in it's hay day, over 500 hot men would be decked out in leather and skin, eager to make connections with other men. As with many a leather fest, you can expect to see musclebears, bears, bikers, Daddies, hunters, Masters, and slaves along with those who defy categorizing.

Be sure to check out what's sure to be a homecoming of sorts for the The Eagle L.A., where they're always serving up a tasty mix of hard-driving rock and the latest man-on-man video entertainment. Unlike other title contests produced in Los Angeles, Mr. SoCal Leather (SCL) is not strictly a feeder contest for Mr. L.A. Leather (LAL). The winner of SCL 2012 will have the following options:

1. Compete at LAL either this year or next;
2. Compete at IML;
3. Compete at American Brotherhood Weekend;
4. Not compete for another title.

So whether you decide to work the pageant circuit or not, it's all good fun. To be eligible for membership in the L.A. Band of Brothers, a contestant must compete for the LAL title. All Southern California titleholders are welcome—as well as those without any title—to compete in the contest. This includes all past, current, and future L.A. titleholders, Mr. Long Beach Leather, Mr. San Diego Leather, and Mr. Palm Springs Leather. Contestants can download the application & information form at the Mr. SoCal Leather website. You can enter up until the last minute, but the early leather birds will be invited to the private Meet & Greet Party, held Friday 3 February at a luxury apartment complex in Hollywood. Last year this party was packed with hot, handsome, and hunky leathermen, and they expect an even bigger turnout this year.
