In 2010 alone there were close to 219,000 plastic surgeries performed on people between the age of 13 and 19, according the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Some of these were treating acne and scars left by acne on teenagers, while the most common was otoplasty or ear surgery, as ears are fully developed in young childhood.

The plot is a big giveaway that this is not your ordinary Hollywood action movie. If the movie were coming from Hollywood the villains would still be Nazis and the hero would realize that we’re all citizens of the world. The acting was a bit stilted at times, but it was all very real, sometimes feeling like a film class. Did it just seem stilted to me because the lines were being said ‘pretty’ people? Act of War isn’t a character driven movie with lots of dialogue, it’s action oriented and it delivers, call it what you want.

It’s great to be recognized. Dads are often un represented in advertising and television. If a dad is represented all too often he’s uncaring, aloof or flat out stupid. Real life stay at home dads are guilty of playing into this stereotype too. Sometimes an over the top representation of a dad is funny, sometimes [...]

I don’t want to believe that a parent wouldn’t love their child just because they’re gay.

When I was a teen my mother questioned my sexual orientation once. It was 1984 and I wanted to get a Swatch.

"If you get that Swatch then the kids will think you're gay", she said.

Had I been a quippy young lad I would've said "Mom, have you seen the Miami Vice pastel jacket I'm wearing to the prom? THAT'S gay, the Swatch is just a cheap, trendy timepiece."

I also don’t want to believe that parents would allow a youth, especially really young ones, to permanently change their body in this manner.
