The city lies at the southern part of the Philippines and has a total land area of 53,606 hectares. It is composed of 26 barangays and belongs to the First Congressional District of the Province of South Cotabato under Region 12.

The highly urbanized General Santos brimmed with energy and excitement as Robinsons Place General Santos opened last September 30, 2009. over 100 national and local food and retail players opened its doors to serve exited mall goers coming in from the local area and the neighboring cities of Cotabato, Koronadal and Tacurong, and some areas in Sarangani Province.

Robinsons Place General Santos which is located along Jose Catolico avenue, spans a total gross floor area of 32,700 square meters. It is the newest full-service mall sets a record in the region as it houses more than a hundred of the country’s top national and new local tenants ranging from food, retail and specialty outlets. Robinsons Malls’ major anchor stores, Robinsons Department Store, Robinsons Supermarket, Robinsons Appliances, Robinsons Movieworld and Handyman-Do-It-Best Home Center.

In its desires to bring in the signature “Robinsons Malls experience” to the GenSan market with the “MAS MAGANDA DITO” tagline, the mall efficiently integrated “easy, breezy and better shopping”, fast and casual dinning, and fun and entertainment to satisfy every customer’s wants and needs.

And to redefine an extremely different kind of malling experience to GenSan’s already thriving commercial center industry, this newest landmark also offers creative mall features that will truly excite GenSan mall goers. A hip and modish al fresco dining strip with its wide selection of food outlets will be GenSan’s newest fresh and vibrant escapade.

FEATURES:

ATRIUM

ALFRESCO

Robinsons Movieworld (3D Movie Experience)

Robinsons Department Store

Robinsons Supermarket

Food Court

Handyman Do It Best

Absolutely FREE WiFi Access

Amusement: Ferris Wheet, Tooter Train and Crawling Animals

Facilities: Waterless urinals, Sensorized hand wash and faucets

Mall Hours:
9:30 AM – 8:00 PM Daily

EVENTS:

August 14, 2010 – JCI Spelling Bee Competition

August 15, 2010 – SIDE A Album Tour

August 20, 2010 – Ms. Skinfluence Coronation Night

August 21, 2010 – Ms. Smile Talent Night

August 22, 2010 – National Bookstore Scrapbooking event

August 27 to 29, 2010 – YAMAHA Fiesta Exhibit

Contact Information:
Mall Administration Department
Robinsons Place Gensan
Jose Cotolico Sr. Avenue, Lagao, General Santos City
Telephone No.: (083) 553-3188

Robinsons Movieworld delivers 3D excitement

Remember your first experience with the wonders of 3D cinema? You know, back when the 3D glasses you had to put on to enjoy the then-nascent technology had a lens in a different color from the other, and were ridiculously huge and made of cardboard? It was anything but wondrous, and that would be putting it mildly because so crude was the technology then that not a few people emerged from the 3D cinema experience nauseous, even physically ill.

Fast-forward to 2010 and 3D experience in movie theaters everywhere is anything unlike before it. Gone are the hugely funny-looking and extremely uncomfortable cardboard glasses, and in its place is specialized eyewear that sits well on your face and even looks cool enough to wear outdoors. More importantly, advances in optical technology have made today’s 3D movies such a thoroughly immersive experience that film industry pundits are unanimous in saying that the technology will totally revolutionize the way movies are made and consumed—and the pundits have the numbers to back them up. Consider the massive box-office success of James Cameron’s recent scifi epic Avator, whose use of 3D technology helped fuel it to become the most successful movie of all time. Consider, as well, the Johnny Depp-starrer Alice in Wonderland, which continues to do solid business weeks after its release, with already $300 million in box-office business in the US alone, no small thanks to repeat viewings of its 3D version.

Robinsons Movieworld, one of the largest theater chains in the country, is all posed to ride the 3D movie boom as it fast-tracks the conversion of existing theaters, going from one 3D-equipped screen (in Robinsons Movieworld Galleria) to at least a total of nine nationwide. Another 3D screen will be added to the Galleria branch, while Robinsons Metro East, Robinsons Starmills Pampanga, Robinsons Place Manila, Lipa, Bacolod, Iloilo and Gensan will each boast of one 3D screen.

“Robinsons Movieworld has always been about providing the public with the best moviegoing experience, whether through the latest works from the ranks of the country’s independent filmmakers, which we started doing at IndieSine in Robinsons Movieworld Galleria, or through the latest in filmmaking technologies, such as 3D cinema,” says Nilo Mapa, general manager of Robinsons Malls.

Indeed, since the first Robinsons Movieworld cinemas were launched in Robinsons Place Manila in 1997, the brand has expanded to the various Robinsons Malls located throughout the country, along the way bringing a slew of new technologies (high-fidelity sound from THX, Dolby and Sony, film projection equipment from Christie and Strong of the US and Kinoton of Germany) and moviegoing niceties (fully carpeted theaters, wide seats, great legroom, fully-loaded snack counters) that enhanced the cinematic experience.

This jump into the wonders of 3D—truly wondrous this time—is but the latest in Robinsons Movieworld’s continuing efforts to provide the public with a truly enjoyable experience. Its 3D theaters will be equipped with the leading technologies Dolby Digital 3D and MasterImage Digital 3D.

Dolby Digital 3D is a powerful, flexible and reliable technology that is the product of meticulous engineering, exhaustive tests, and all the lessons learned in Dolby’s more than 40 years of creating entertainment technologies that have become the standard worldwide. Meanwhile, MasterImage Digital 3D is a compelling choice for single projector digital 3D installations. Providing bright vivid 3D images using silver screen, it is the fastest growing digital 3D system in North America and Europe.

Some of the films that have been presented in these technologies include Alice in Wonderland, G-Force and, of course, Avatar. Here are some of the upcoming 3D titles that will soon be shown in Robinsons Movieworld’s nine 3D screens: Toy Story 1 & 2, Shrek Forever After, Toy Story 3, Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore, and Despicable Me.

To enhance moviegoers’ 3D experience even more, Robinsons Movieworld is also bundling a free snack and a drink in selected branches, this for a nominal addition to the regular 3D movie ticket price. “It’s just yet another way for us to give additional value for their money and their continued patronage of Robinsons Movieworld. We also offer bundled meal and ticket packages at selected branches, catering to the individual, the couples and the barkadas to provide great snacks and movie enjoyment at affordable prices,” says Evylene Advincula, operations manager of Robinsons Movieworld.

With the awesome experience that 3D cinema now offers to the moviegoing public, along with the various extras that major theater chains are offering to heighten the audience’s enjoyment, there’s no better time to go to the movies than now.

For latest screening schedules, please call Robinsons Movieworld at 395-5555 or log on to www.robinsonsmovieworld.com.

Soccsksargen Bloggers Google Mapping Party

In this photo: Dimple Dulay, Cidz Bascon, Armando Nicolas PJ, Rabsky Marcos Villanueva, Jose Laurence Perez Erojo, Jose Laurence Perez Erojo, Ariel Lalisan, Avel Manansala, Gilbert Yap Tan, Hannah Garchitorena Espinosa, Alexis Cañizar Chua, Vince Celeste, Louis Outnumbered Gazo, Hector Miñoza, Job Oberio, Sheila Marie Dumalay, Chariz Fredeluces Mundo, Van Almeria, Kyawkyaw Dee, Marz Fernandez Bendol

Grab a Crab Restaurant Oval Room
Robinsons Place - General Santos City
01:00 to 05:00 PM | 25 April 2010

Soccsksargen Bloggers get-together at Robinsons Place in General Santos City

Yesterday afternoon of October 10th, the Soccsksargen Bloggers had successfully carry out the basked of the grand eyeball at Robinsons Place - General Santos City. Dayupay

It was May 21st, Sunday at around 5 o'clock in the afternoon when people of the locale, community leaders, media, students and volunteers gathered to extend their support and sympathy to people living with HIV and suffering because of AIDS.

AIDS Candle Light Memorial at Magsaysay Park, General Santos City | Photograph by Ramil Chio Blah

Doctors and some academics were invited to attend, but only a few came. Still, it was a tremendous success and the most nostalgic, yet dramatic candlelight that ever took place in the locale. It was the first time to happen, actually.

The program started at around 5:30 p.m. at the city's freedom park along the downtown area. We opened it up with a smashing HIV/AIDS Ads Screenings and followed with a film showing the youth of today's generation sponsored by DKT International, makers of frenzy & trust condoms. At around 6 p.m. sharp, we started to gather all the folks at the freedom park and distributed the candles to those who were present and willing to participate. The crowd reached an estimated volume of 500.

We had printed t-shirts for the staff, invited guests and local officials, and to the participating youth organizations and NGOs. We distributed condoms to the youth, and the students especially, and were able to create a dramtic and nostalgic effect on the highlight of the event -- the candlelight.

The candlelight started with a prayer by a young girl who drew a remarkable response from the audience; people were so quiet and so sympathetic to the mood and tone of the candle lighting; the second prayer was delivered by the Salvation Army who honored the victims and those people who keep on fighting against the global pandemic.

The mother candle was first lit by the young girl, followed by the representative of the Salvation Army, then to the staff and crew, community leaders, officials, and guests, then to the crowd forming a ribbon to represent hope and life for the humanity struggling with this global pandemic.

After the candle lighting, we changed the mood. We put life into the event letting our band entertain the crowd. And then we showed a film on what is AIDS and what is responsible. We talked about the true scenerio of the Philippines and the global pandemic, and the "Do's" and "Don'ts" on responsible sexuality. Students were so attentive and cooperative.

We had games in between, and let our leaders speak up and deliver their messages to the public. We gave out leaflets and brochures to enhance the information dissemination. We let some students share their experiences through our skilled staff in terms of their sexual agonies, and everything that affects their healthy lifestyle and sexuality.

We ended up the Candlelight with so much hope in our hearts and the feeling of success that money can't buy, and we will continue to do this no matter how tiring, despite how discrimination and financial constraints affected us. Still, I believe that by continuous prayers and non-stop effort to help other folks, especially the corporate sector, will support us in this campaign. Stop Aids! as we are lighting the path for the next generation.

That's my story! I hope that others will not stop in their campaign. It was hard to start, but just go on. There is help along the way. Continue to strive! Continue to help other people! After all, if we stop this, who will do it?!

Thanks

Mhiver Jay V.
