Viki strikes again! But she only lied to her brother about Christy's demise to protect him from the news of Christy's nuptials. But who can protect him from his old "friend" Gray (Ray Liotta) whose video piracy operation is the reason Tommy went to jail in the first place. Gray is back on the move and trying to lure Tommy into a new scheme – and Gray isn't somebody who takes no for an answer. And while Tommy would like nothing more than to come clean to probation officer Angela, the last thing he wants to do is raise her suspicions – especially since he might be falling in love with her.

IFC ENTERTAINMENT SIGNS DEAL TO MAKE INDEPENDENT FILMS AVAILABLE TO BE WATCHED INSTANTLY AT NETFLIX

IFC Entertainment Titles Available Include American Independent, Documentary and World Cinema Titles, With Films by John Sayles, Errol Morris, Susanne Bier, Christopher Nolan, Catherine Breillat, James Toback, Rebecca Miller and Hirokazu Kore-Eda

NEW YORK, November 20, 2009 – In a move designed to increase the reach of independent cinema, IFC Entertainment, one of the leading distributors of independent and foreign films, and Netflix, the world’s largest online movie rental service, today announced a partnership that gives Netflix U.S. rights to 53 unique titles from IFC Entertainment. Through this agreement select titles from IFC Entertainment’s eclectic library of independent films will become available to be streamed instantly to televisions and computers via the Netflix service. The deal was announced jointly by Lisa Schwartz, executive vice president for IFC Entertainment, and Robert Kyncl, vice president of content acquisition for Netflix.

The partnership gives Netflix members on an unlimited plan the opportunity to instantly watch the newly acquired films on their computers or TVs through a range of Netflix ready devices. Those devices include Netflix ready Blu-ray disc players and new Internet TVs from LG Electronics; Blu-ray disc players from Samsung and Best Buy’s Insignia brand; the Roku digital video player; Microsoft's Xbox 360 game console and Sony’s Playstation 3 (PS3) computer entertainment system; TiVo digital video recorders, and Internet TVs from Sony and, soon, VIZIO. The films will be available beginning Friday, November 20th.

The library will also feature documentaries by renowned filmmaker Errol Morris, including the groundbreaking THE THIN BLUE LINE and his debut feature GATES OF HEAVEN. Planet 51

Planet 51 Synopsis: American astronaut Captain Charles "Chuck" Baker, lands on Planet 51 thinking he's the first person to step foot on it. To his surprise, he finds that this planet is inhabited by little green people who are happily living in a white picket fence world reminiscent of a cheerfully innocent 1950s America, and whose only fear is that it will be overrun by alien invaders--like Chuck! With the help of his robot companion "Rover" and his new friend Lem, Chuck must navigate his way through the dazzling, but bewildering, landscape of Planet 51 in order to escape becoming a permanent part of the Planet 51 Alien Invaders Space Museum.

THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON

The Twilight Saga: New Moon Synopsis: In the second installment of Stephenie Meyer's phenomenally successful Twilight series, the romance between mortal and vampire soars to a new level as Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) delves deeper into the mysteries of the supernatural world she yearns to become part of - only to find herself in greater peril than ever before.

Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans (Limited)

Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans Synopsis: After severely injuring his back while saving a prisoner from drowning in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, homicide detective Terence McDonagh (Nicolas Cage) is promoted to lieutenant, prescribed painkillers and returned to active duty. A year later, he is addicted to both Vicodin and cocaine. But his responsibilities to the force continue, and when a family of African immigrants is found massacred, Terence is handed the case by his superiors.
In the convoluted moral universe in which Terence lives, it's possible to be a protective boyfriend to his escort girlfriend Frankie (Eva Mendes), look after a witness wanted by a notorious drug dealer (played by car-modifying rapper Xzibit), score drugs from intimidated club kids, regularly hallucinate about reptiles, have a lucky crack pipe and still somehow be charged with protecting the general public.

The Blind Side

The Blind Side Synopsis: American teenager in Memphis, whose father was murdered and whose mother was a crack addict, is shuffled through the public school system, despite his low grade point average and absenteeism. But his tremendous size and quickness attracts the interest of a wealthy white couple who take him in and groom him both athletically and academically to become one of the top high school football prospects in the country.

Mammoth (Limited)

Mammoth Synopsis: Mammoth revolves around successful New York couple Leo (Gael García Bernal) and Ellen (Michelle Williams). Leo is the creator of a booming website, and has stumbled into a world of money and big decisions. Ellen is a dedicated emergency surgeon who devotes her long shifts to saving lives. Their 8-year old daughter Jackie (Sophie Nyweide) spends most of her time with her Filipino nanny Gloria (Marife Necesito), a situation that is making Ellen start to question her priorities. When Leo travels to Thailand on business, he unwittingly sets off a chain of events that will have dramatic consequences for everyone.

Broken Embraces (Limited)

Broken Embraces Synopsis: At the centre of this affecting feature sits a blind screenwriter and former director who has abandoned his real name, Mateo Blanco, for a pseudonym, Harry Caine, the first sign of the double life he leads. Harry's current reality conceals a fascinating past, which Almodóvar spends much of his film detailing. The plot is propelled by the arrival of a brash young man, hot on the heels of news that the producer of Mateo's film "Girls and Suitcases" has died. The film marked a defining period in Mateo's life, as both he and his producer had fallen madly in love with a girl who was cast in the project. The simmering Lena had turned both of their worlds inside out. She became the love of Mateo's life while simultaneously leading a double life with the film's producer. But it is the young man on his doorstep that intrigues and troubles the now blind Harry. Who is he?

I just got back from finally seeing The Twilight Saga: New Moon and let me tell you it was good, really good.

I do need to disclose that I am a big fan of the Twilight series and have been since even before all the craziness started. I have read all four books and enjoyed the first movie, although I thought it worked better if you had actually read the book before seeing it. However, I will admit that even though I did enjoy Twilight, I wasn't jumping up and down about it, and I understand why some people didn't really enjoy it. So when I went into New Moon, I was hoping for something better, especially because the trailer looked so great. I am happy to say that New Moon went above and beyond my hopes, and delivered a really great movie that even people who haven't read the books can enjoy. In addition, I think that fans of the book will also be very pleased with how close to the book the movie is.

For those who don't know, in The Twilight Saga: New Moon, Edward leaves Bella in order to protect her from the dangers that come from dating a vampire. A heartbroken Bella then turns to Jacob for comfort and their friendship grows. As the two get closer Bella also learns about Jacob's secret, turns out he's a werewolf. Unfortunately, the return from one of the Cullens disrupts their new friendship, as Bella needs to make a difficult choice.

The story has a very good pace and the relationship between Bella and Jacob has a great build up. Even though I'm on Team Edward, while watching the movie, I found myself having a soft spot for Jacob too.
Some of the more tender moments reflected the book more closely. A lot of the lines come directly from the book, but they do not sound cheesy when said out loud, which is not that easy to do. There is also some comic relief throughout the film, which was really welcome and balanced the darker moments well.

Another great improvement over Twilight is that the visual effects are way better this time around. The pack of wolves look pretty damn amazing and scary. And the fight scenes are way more impressive. Even the sparkling of the vampires worked better.

And finally, the actors. Well, I already thought that Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson were good in the first movie, and in New Moon they definitely stepped up their games. Although Robert Pattinson isn't as much in the movie as Kristen Stewart, it feels like he has a better grasp over who Edward is, which makes his scenes so much more true and interesting to watch. I can't wait to see what he does in the third movie, Eclipse.
I always thought Kristen Stewart was a great Bella, and in New Moon she is able to get to a real dark place showing us Bella's despair over Edward leaving her. I'll even admit that I had tears in my eyes at some point. I really enjoyed her performance.
And of course, Taylor Lautner, who plays Jacob, is front and center in this movie. He definitely went through a huge transformation both physically and acting-wise. I honestly wasn't sure that he could touch me the way Jacob had touched me in the book, but as I was watching scenes between Bella and Jacob, it was as if I was reading the book all over again. I am definitely impressed and looking forward to seeing more of Taylor Lautner in Eclipse.

We don't see as much of the supporting cast as these three main actors, but I do want to mention a few of them.
I was really happy to see more of Charlie, played by Billy Burke, in New Moon. Not only that, I also feel like they captured the essence of who Charlie is so much better in this one than in Twilight. He also had quite a few funny lines, which made him even more likable as a father.
The Volturi were definitely scary, but mostly I want to mention what a great Aro Michael Sheen created, he was absolutely wonderful.
We unfortunately didn't see too much of the Quileute werewolves, and I wish we had seen more of them interact together with Jacob, but overall I think it worked.
As for the Cullens, well there really isn't much to say since we barely see them in this film. But I always get a kick out of seeing Jasper (Jackson Rathbone), he's pretty hilarious.

Overall, I think that even non-Twilight obsessed people might enjoy New Moon. It feels like a totally different movie and series compared to what I had come to expect from the first one. I have to give huge props to Chris Weitz for giving New Moon such a great tone and bringing out such brilliant performances from the actors. I really hope that David Slade does as good of a job with Eclipse.

Nine is loosely based on Fellini's 8 1/2 (which you should see, it's quite a trip) and follows a the life of world famous film director Guido Contini (Daniel Day-Lewis) as he reaches a creative and personal crisis of epic proportion, while balancing the numerous women in his life including his wife (Marion Cotillard), his mistress (Penelope Cruz), his film star muse (Nicole Kidman), his confidant and costume designer (Judi Dench), an American fashion journalist (Kate Hudson), the whore from his youth (Fergie) and his mother (Sophia Loren).

This movie is officially making my list of must-see movies for next year. It looks pretty great.

The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond Synopsis: Widely considered the most important American playwright of the post-WWII, era, Williams wrote the TEARDROP DIAMOND screenplay at the height of his late-1950's heyday, amid such classic plays, (which themselves were adapted into classic films), as "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," "Suddenly, Last Summer," "Sweet Bird of Youth," and "Orpheus Descending." Set in the Roaring Twenties in Williams' (and Markell's) home town of Memphis, the film tells the story of Fisher Willow (Howard) a headstrong young heiress who chafes under the constraints of proper Southern society, and who rebels by asking the impoverished but handsome son of her father's caretaker, Jimmy Dobyne (Evans), to escort her to the major social events of the season.
