How should I dress for the workshop?
While there is no dress code – we don’t recommend
open-toed sandals on the shooting days.

INSTRUCTORS:

John Prusak
John has many award-winning credits to his name including cinematography for “Roger & Me”, co-producing the documentary “Walk This Way” and many more. He was also a teacher at the William D. Ford Tech. Center in Westland for over 20 years. Many of his students from school and DAFT sponsored workshops have gone on to illustrious careers in Hollywood. He remains in contact with many of them as they make their way back to Michigan to visit. Currently he’s working on a documentary called “A Galaxie Far, Far Away” to be released in 2012.

Steve Julin
Steve has been editing, directing and producing video and film for over 25 years. He was a principal partner in developing Media Power and is an Apple Certified Instructor, Boris FX Certified Instructor, as well as Michigan’s first Avid Certified Instructor. He has edited and provided training for such companies as Ford Motor Company, Kmart, Comcast, The Discovery Channel, CBS, PBS and NBC. In 2004 he wrote “Xpress Pro Power”. Participants will storyboard, direct, create animations, collaborate, and produce a short animated film during this intensive one week summer workshop designed to accommodate students of all abilities. Students will be receive a DVD of the animation shorts created during this class and will be the special guests at the 2012 premier of the films.

Lead instructor John Prusak is an award winning cinematographer and media artist who has taught video and animation to students of all ages for more than 30 years, facilitating numerous workshops with a team of knowledgeable animators.

The instructors have many years of classroom and professional experience in animation and promise a week full of learning and fun.

University credit (3 hours) is offered through Central Michigan University for an additional fee paid to CMU.

TOPICS COVERED:
This course will provide an opportunity to try a variety of different kinds of animation including cell, cut-outs, drawing under the camera, object animation, pixilation and claymation. Other aspects such as storyboarding, editing, adding sound, and (for teachers) classroom applications are included.

WHEN & WHERE:
Art in Motion will meet July 9 – 13, 2012. Classes meet daily Monday through Thursday from 9am to 5pm and Friday until 1 pm at the beautiful Howell Nature Center, an educational facility between Lansing and Detroit.

FEES:
The tuition for Art in Motion is $600, which includes most materials, lunch, and a compilation DVD of all work produced. University credit (3 hours) is offered through Central Michigan University for an additional fee paid to CMU. Accommodations are available for an additional $100, which includes breakfast and dinner.
