Of all the subjects I have painted during the course of this daily painting journey, my most favorite are still portraits of people. It’s funny though how very seldom I paint them. I am always challenging myself to make the skin color and texture more realistic, more lifelike.

I used the same green cloth as the one in the previous apple painting because I loved its silky texture and the fringe edge. So fun to paint!

We’ve had this Hohner harmonica for decades although I still haven’t learned to play it. I’ve always wanted to paint it because of its antique look, but I could never find the perfect composition for it. For sure I’ll be doing another painting which will feature it better.

By the way, I keep forgetting to mention that artist Monica Burnette recently talked about edges in paintings on her blog and she featured my “Grapes in Small Bowl” in one of her posts. Check it out here! Thank you, Monica!

My fellow members at Daily Painter Originals, Kelley MacDonald and Susan Roden, are having a donut exchange over at their blogs (more popularly known as the “Donut War”). They have been throwing donuts (paintings, of course) of all brands, shapes and colors — sugar-coated, frosted, jelly-filled, chocolate. Current status of the Donut war is a truce so, I think, this is as good a time as any to show my neutral, plain glazed donut.

I once painted my (then) almost empty blue paint tube. I enjoyed it so much so I decided to do another one, this time the near empty yellow tube. There’s something about painting the tools that I use every day to create these little “dailies”. It’s almost like spending quality time with your best friend.

My new favorite subject — lollipops!

When I began this blog, my personal goal was to keep it updated with new paintings strictly on a daily basis for at least one year. Well, I’m guilty of not being able to keep that goal, most especially during the past two and a half weeks.

On a positive note though, I sold some of the small paintings and spent those two and a half weeks packing and mailing them as well as finishing a commission. To those who have bought my paintings or commissioned me, thank you so much for your support!
