With the victory, the Sea Kings clinched the Ocean League title, with a 7-0 record, 13-0 overall.

Megan Gormley shot a 37 and Nicole Chernoff shot a 41 for PV.

Elise Fujita led North with a 46.

In cross country

Renee Ketner and Bryan Aguilar both finished first, respectively for the San Pedro girls and boys cross country teams to Thursday’s tri-meet with Washington and Gardena.

Ketner and Maya Richardson both posted a time of 23:38. Aguilar had a time of 18:29

Both the girls and boys Pirates improved to 4-0.

In Girls Volleyball

South Torrance 3, Torrance 1: Lauren Walsh had 22 kills and 13 digs and Kai Lopez had 13 kills in the 25-21, 25-23, 21-25, 25-17 road victory.

Kristen Fritsche had 48 assists and 12 digs for South, who improved to 5-1 in league. Torrance falls to 4-2.

Bishop Montgomery 3, Serra 0: Madeline Cardenas had nine kills and Caitlin Foley had seven kills in the 25-11, 25-15, 25-18 victory.

Chadwick 3, Firebaugh 0: Jessie Doty had four kills and two aces and Maddie Brady had five aces and eight assists in the 25-8, 25-6, 25-9 victory for the Dolphins (8-7, 4-5).

Taryn Gurbach added seven digs.

In Girls Tennis

South Torrance 17, Torrance 1: Justine Kiok, Halle Holzbauer and Katie Rugnetta all swept in singles for the Spartans. In doubles, Melanie Kowalewski-Jenna Yanke, Elisa Bass-Nina Bayne and Anne Bayne-Danay Holman each won two sets for South.

Peninsula is ranked third in the CIF-SS Division 1 poll, while Palos Verdes is ranked fourth.

Senior Ryan Peus swept in singles defeating Jenna Sloan (PV) 7-6, then winning 6-3, 6-0. Freshman Kimmi Hance also swept winning 6-2, 6-1, 6-0.

The doubles duo of Laudan Hosseini-Serena Ko won two matches, including the clinching match.

Peninsula closes a strong week, that included a 11-7 victory over top-ranked Campbell Hall.

South Torrance 11, North Torrance 7: Halle Holzbauer swept in singles and the team of Justine Kiok-Danay Holman swept in doubles for Spartans.

Katie Rugnetta won two matches in singles for South.

Mira Costa 14, Redondo 4: The Mustangs won seven sets in singles and doubles against their rival Sea Hawks. Audrey Vo won two sets (6-3, 6-1) as did Kiki Daviduk (6-1 and 6-3).

In doubles, Olga Nagy-Kacey Feng (MC) won three sets (6-1, 6-3, 6-1).

In Cross Country

San Pedro boys and girls teams beat both Carson and King Drew, Thursday.

Armando Ortiz and Andrew Flores finished first with a time of 18:05 and Riley Cameron and Perla Aguilar were first in the girls’ race with a 21:22.

In girls volleyball

Bishop Montgomery 3, St. Paul 0: Lauren Turner had 11 kills, Brenna Starkey had nine and Caitlin Foley added seven in the 25-15, 25-18, 26-24 victory.

In Boys water polo

El Segundo 17, Torrance 1: Kyle Crist led the Eagles (12-3, 3-0) with three goals in the victory. Kalan Smith, Owen Hale, Mason Jaeger, Jaden Van Der Woude and Nolan Young all scored two goals apiece.

In girls golf

Mira Costa 199, West Torrance 223: Shani White shot a 37 and Klara Nagy and Isabella Walker shot 39s for the Mustangs.

Reina Tan shot a 35 for the Warriors and Kaitlyn You shot a 40.

Jennifer Wroblicky had nine kills and three blocks. Kristen Fritsche had 47 assists and 14 digs.

Ambassador 3, Shalhevet 0: Tylin Bakhoum had six kills, two blocks and two aces to lead the Lions in the 25-13, 25-16, 25-19 victory.

In water polo

Venice 17, San Pedro 7: Marcos Ortega had a hat trick and Eli Ortega had two goals for the Pirates in the loss.

In Cross Country

San Pedro both the boys and girls titles at the South Bay Cup, hosted by Torrance High.

Armando Ortiz (16:28) and Andrew Flores (16:30) finished No. 1 and 2 for the boys and the girls were led by Perla Aguilar (18:58) and Riley Cameron (19:13), who finished second and fourth, respectively.

Serena Ramirez also had 16 kills with 11 digs in the 22-25, 25-16, 18-25, 25-20, 15-13 victory.

Rosie Lopez had 25 assists, four digs and six aces. Alison Lyons had 38 digs and three aces. Selene Ramirez had 12 kills and three blocks and Lauren Sutrin had nine kills and four blocks.

El Segundo 3, Beverly Hills 0: Maddie Kurke and Alyssa Pearson had 14 and 10 kills, respectively as the Eagles swept the Normans, 25-13, 26-24, 25-14.

Village Christian 3, South Torrance 2: Lauren Walsh had 17 kills and 10 digs for the Spartans in the 18-25, 25-17, 19-25, 25-20, 17-15 loss.

Lizzie Smith had 12 digs and two aces and Kristen Fritsche had 39 assists for South (7-11). This was a rematch of the 2014 CIF-SS 2AA championship match.

Pasadena Poly 3, Chadwick 2: Jessie Doty led the Dolphins with 19 kills and Morgan Brandmeyer had 15 in the 25-15, 20-25, 23-25, 25-21, 15-5 loss to Pasadena Poly.

Doty also had nine digs and two blocks. Maddie Brady had 38 assists and Taryn Gurbach had 17 digs.

Ambassador 3, Environmental Charter 0: Tara Delk had 12 kills and Alyssa Bobich had 20 assists in the 25-13, 25-14, 25-12 victory.

Chadwick’s Alex Mainvielle finished second at 17:08 in his first Prep League meet and just the second of his high school career. Frank Glantz (17:29) was fourth.

Chadwick finished second with 47 points.

In the girls’ race, Gaby Valle (Chadwick) finished eighth with a time of 20:41.

In Girls Tennis

In Girls Golf

Palos Verdes 197, Santa Monica 236: Meg Yoshida led the Sea Kings, shooting a 1-under 33 at Penmar Golf Course. Arianna Proul shot a 40 for the Palos Verdes.

The Gauchos led throughout the game until Saint Louis took its first lead with 6:32 left and eventually won 56-50 at Aloha Stadium.

Saint Louis had outscored Narbonne, 28-7 at one point ihn the fourth quarter. The Crusaders took their first lead, 49-44 with 6:32 left in the game.

The Gauchos added a 76-yard touchdown pass from Jalen Chatman to Steven Jenkins with 1:52 left.

The teams combined for 1,114 total yards. Chatman completed 24 of 39 for 516 yards with five touchdowns. Jermar Jefferson had one rushing touchdown and two receiving. He had seven catches on 181 yards. Steven Jenkins had two catches for 156 yards.

Saint Louis quarterback Chevan Cordeiro completed 25 of 39 passes for 409 yards and seven touchdowns, with four coming in the fourth quarter. Mitchell Quinn had seven receptions for 233 yards with four touchdowns.

Narbonne falls to 2-3. Saint Louis is 5-0, one of its victories came over Punahou (49-13). Punahou defeated Serra earlier this year. Narbonne edged Serra in their thrilling season opener.

The Gauchos led 30-21 at halftime. This was the first time all season that Saint Louis had trailed at halftime.

Their lead increased to 37-21 in early in the third quarter on Chatman’s six-yard touchdown run.

Saint Louis responded with a touchdown with 7:31 left in the third quarter, to cut the lead to 37-28 heading into the fourth quarter.  Saint Louis came a bit closer on the first play of the fourth on a six-yard touchdown, cutting Narbonne’s lead to 37-35.

The Gauchos had an answer of their own, an 81-yard screen pass from Chatman to Jefferson for the touchdown and a 44-35 lead with 11:12 left.

Narbonne has a bye next week before starting Marine League.

The Gauchos (2-2) will face St. Louis of Honolulu, Saturday night. St. Louis is 4-0, having defeated Punahou, 49-13. Punahou earlier defeated Serra, 56-42 at the Honor Bowl .

Aside from football, the Gauchos are scheduled to visit the Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor and have a luau.

South Torrance 3, Chadwick 0: The Spartans swept the Dolphins, 25-19, 25-18, 25-15 in a nonleague match. Lauren Walsh and Bridgette Campbell led South with nine kills and both had six digs apiece.  Setter Kristen Fritsche dished out 38 assists and libero Lizzie Smith had 14 digs.

Jessie Doty had nine kills, three digs and two blocks for Chadwick. Maddie Brady had 14 assists and Taryn Gurbach had 10 digs.

Culver City 3, El Segundo 0: Maddie Kurke led the Eagles with 17 kills, but it wasn’t enough in the 25-21, 25-15, 25-14 loss.

San Pedro 3, Banning 0: Lauren Sutrin had seven kills and Selene Ramirez had four with two blocks in the 25-10, 25-16, 25-18 Marine League victory.

Rosie Lopez had 11 assists and four aces.

Chadwick trailed 20-10 in the second half. In third quarter, Chadwick’s Oryan Hamlin scored on an 8-yard run and Zach Goodman followed with the two-point conversion to cut the score 20-18.

Chadwick will face Rolling Hills Prep, Friday.
