For the fall/winter season, the Loewe brand team has traveled to Mont Blanc, specifically the Pointe Helbronner peak in the Alpine massif, presenting the collection against a backdrop of ice, snow and granite summits. When news broke last December that Cardi B would be the headliner closing out the upcoming MDLBeast Soundstorm festival in Riyah, a small-scale level of concern simmered among those closest to her upcoming arrival.

Writing an overview head of editorial content letter for the September issue, Manuel Arnault expressed that he was confident the Saudi people would be gracious in their welcome to the most successful female rapper in the world. But Cardi B has a formidable personality, one that accompanies her prodigious business skills, musical talent and “reading people” skills.

Cardi B is often “larger than life” and she is comfortable talking politics, where her views are strong ones.

What impacted Arnault deeply — and the social media responses of real people to Cardi B emerging airborne from the sky — was her posting an Instagram video on December, 2025, wearing a black abaya-style gown with the caption:

The event closed out in spectacular fashion, going off “without a hitch”, as we say in English.

Everyone visiting the region makes decisions about dress, for reasons often not understood in America or even parts of Europe. Everyone agrees that these choices are more difficult for women. Anne has made them on multiple occasions, actually showing the hotel concierges images of her options, and accepting their very pleased-with-her choices.

Those events happened over 15 years ago, but many of these topics remain bedrocks in Arab cultures.

Pharrell Williams Has a New Hotel Project in Paris

The creative director of Louis Vuitton Men has a new hotel project in Paris, as Pharrell Williams partners with Mohari Hospitality and Omnam Investment Group to completely reimagine the former Saint-James & Albany Hotels, writes Glitz.Paris.

The location is superb, with the project sitting on prime Parisian real estate at 202 Rue de Rivoli, directly across from the Tuileries Gardens and a short walk from The Louvre Museum and the all-important Place Vendôme.

The combined Saint-James, opened in 1864, while the Albany opened on in 1894. The location closed in 2021, awaiting renewal.

The announcement of the partnership originally came in October, 2024 by Mohari Hospitality and Omnam Group [IG]. A month later in November 2024, the group announced its purchase of the Bauer Hotel in Venice, which — based on their own language — does not involve Williams.

The yet unnamed hotel will house about 100 rooms and suites, a small number of private residences as well as restaurants, bars, a spa, and a swimming pool.

Lauren Sherman’s Misguided Fashion First Vision of Louis Vuitton

In June Puck’s Lauren Sherman wrote a piece on Pharrell, filled with insinuations about Williams that were so egregious that after firing off a blistering email to her, I got out my digital pen and let it rip: Puck Writer Lauren Sherman Stink Bombs for Pharrell Williams Explained & Shredded.

Sherman has an exceedingly narrow view of the Louis Vuitton brand DNA. Her view does not sync at all with the one articulated by Louis Vuitton Chairman and Chief Executive Officer [CEO] Pietro Beccari.

The LV chairman does not put fashion design at the top of Louis Vuitton DNA. Beccari puts cultural relevance and cultural influence at the top of his list. We will pursue this difference in terminology and its consequences in a separate post.

For the Record: Pharrell Williams and the Goodtime Hotel in Miami

From the perspective of Anne of Carversville, the facts about Pharrell Williams and the Goodtime Hotel can be summarized like this:

• The creative input, branding development, and aesthetic curation for The Goodtime Hotel took place between 2016 and 2021—culminating in the property's grand opening on April 15, 2021. This entire venture concluded almost two years, before Pharrell was even named Men’s Creative Director at Louis Vuitton in early 2023.

• To drag a long-settled, pre-existing branding agreement into a critique of his current anti-LVMH corporate focus is a desperate reach for dirt on Pharrell. Furthermore, legal filings from the hotel’s subsequent foreclosure crisis explicitly show that Pharrell was never a major equity owner or financial guarantor; his name was entirely absent from the debt lawsuits. He provided his creative vision, the marketing wrapped up, and the project ended for Pharrell.

• Presumably, with Pharrell living in Miami until moving to Paris with Louis Vuitton Men, he showed up at the Goodtime Hotel on multiple occasions. That does not make him an owner or a person providing strategic advice, as court records confirmed. For social media writers to drag the Goodtime closure into a critique of Pharrell’s hotel partnership in Paris is a basic failure of linear time. It also feels like a deliberate act of aggression against a man I hold in very high regard. Hence, my very annoyed response to baseless attacks, especially launched by gossip columnist Lauren Sherman.

Vanity Fair interviewed Sherman in recent weeks, for a piece called Sherman’s March: How Fashion Learned to Fear a Newsletter and made the gossip column reference. Anne likes that descriptor. AOC was surprised to learn that LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault has banned his executives from talking to the Puck fashion world genius at all. Sherman is the only American fashion writer bearing the brunt of his wrath.

It’s a good idea on Arnault’s part, but his minions have not gotten the message. AOC has written for over a year that LVMH has a significant problem inside the house — unless they are deliberately feeding Sherman false info in hopes of discrediting her. This hypothetical might be possible, now that I know the backstory of Bernard Arnault banning his execs from speaking with her.

Being totally honest and recalling a couple moves on my part at Victoria’s Secret, I would absolutely have people feeding Sherman false information. Puck’s alleged savant could become a stock-price dangerous mouthpiece, without a birddogging squad following her around to validate her claims. ~ Anne

Storm Clouds on the Horizon

Not to knock on the door of their collective consciousness, but perhaps this trio of lovelies are suffering from ennui, a deep, weary boredom and listlessness, a grey feeling where life’s routines feel dull and meaningless.

Dior is wearing a stiff upper lip, ignoring the Chanel bullet train bearing down on the #2 brand in the LVMH portfolio as a minor inconvenience. These Dior lovelies are totally oblivious to the storm brewing outside of paradise. They are safe on pampered grounds, with generous trust funds meeting their every fashion desire.

Just asking. Has anyone actually seen the Dior couple? Explaining her decision to give feminism the boot at Dior, Delphine Arnault said the Dior couple was her new focus? Over a year into her new rebranding project, we have no idea what the Dior couple represents. Except they are very young and financially endowed.

Dior and Chanel Are Locked in a Zero-Sum Luxury Brands Battle

90% of the financial markets now believe that Dior and Chanel are locked in a zero-sum luxury brands battle and Dior has already suffered a strong gut punch. Financial modeling demonstrates that the [LVMH] stock is now trading significantly below its intrinsic fair value.

The institutional investment community is actively baking a steep "management and creative risk premium" into Dior's valuation, explicitly losing faith in the brand's near-term trajectory.

Is Dior Losing Ground Under Jonathan Anderson?

Morgan Stanley believes that the Dior situation is potentially worsening under Anderson. Especially up against the Chanel bullet train, a luxury brand moving at a blistering pace with joyful, goal-oriented women on the move, Dior looks timid, weak and more nubile than ever.

The halo effect of Mandava’s appointment has created enormous good will for Chanel in China. Mandava’s brainiac-status, advanced architecture studies at New York University resonate in China, where educational achievement and serious-topics, self-discipline are celebrated.

China’s Tax Policy Enforcement Adds A New Headache for Luxury Brands

The news out of China about luxury brands languishing in July 2026 seriously complicates the luxury sector financial forecast. As Beijing cracked down on the reality of tax avoidance among the wealthy, early reports are that the 25 largest luxury labels operating in China recorded a rough July with collective revenues plunging over 10%. It sounds like some brands could be hit close to 20%.

Louis Vuitton, Dior, Gucci, Bottega Veneta, and Balenciaga all posted steep double-digit declines. Hermès, which had been posting gains, swung to negative territory. Growth rates at Chanel and Prada slowed significantly, but remained positive in July.

The two most pro-women, brainiacs-loving luxury brands have survived the first round of high-income cutbacks. Miuccia Prada has always occupied special status in the world of women’s empowerment. Delphine Arnault is on the record saying that the 10-years of Chiuri are over for Dior and she doesn’t need empowered women supporting her maison.

Leena Nair, Chanel’s inspiring, sort-of-new CEO, is happy to step in and remove any anxiety Dior’s Chiuri women may be feeling over being given the boot. Nair and creative director Matthieu Blazy lit a torch for the Chiuri women worthy of the Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor. “Ladies, ladies. This is crazy-town talk. Chanel will sent a car for you. We don’t breathe such rarified air at Chanel. Coco Chanel wasn’t backed by a limitless trust fund — just men who adored her business savvy and determined moxie to succeed. We love working women at Chanel. Does 4pm suit your schedule?”

While all top brands are impacted by Chanel’s success generally, it’s indisputable that Dior is most wounded by the Chanel bullet train. AOC’s common sense says that this battle of two luxury titans is just getting started.

Karen Mulder Returns 30 Years Later to Vogue Germany September AOC Fashion

1990s supermodel Karen Mulder covers the September 2026 issue of Vogue Germany [IG]. Mulder was an early Victoria’s Secret Angel, with her life and job prospects on a roll until 2001.

Mulder’s Vogue Germany cover is her first in 30 years. She is styled by Dogukan Nesanir in Celine for the cover, adding Giorgio Armani, Loro Piana, Maison Alaia, Maison Valentino, Noor Hammour Paris, Sportmax, and more, in images by Sean+Seng [IG].

In that year Karen Mulder made shocking claims of abuse against the fashion industry and its treatment of models. Interviewed for a French talk show, the Dutch super ended up in a psychiatric hospital resulting from her commentary, which never aired on television or to the general public.

Vogue Germany is more assertive in their commentary, writing:

“In the early 2000s, she was ruthlessly cancelled after becoming one of the first to speak out against abuse in the fashion industry.”

In her interview, Mulder insists that in order to obtain her release from the psychiatric hospital, she had to stipulate that she made up the entire story of fashion model abuse as shared with the French talk show. All tapes were destroyed by the French talk show.

In 2002, Mulder was found unconscious in her apartment, after taking an overdose of pills.

Another name in the Mulder case is Elite Model Management European president Gérald Marie, who has been publicly linked by accusers and investigative groups to the wider network surrounding Jeffrey Epstein and his associate Jean-Luc Brunel. Both Epstein and Brunel died by suicide in jail.

AOC goes deep into these allegations, including a flurry of new legal complaints based on old claims, filed in Paris in July 2026.

Two New Confrontations Employed by Alleged Victims Gain Momentum

The refusal of Epstein’s victims to sit down and shut up has inspired these women. We all know that there is much more to the Epstein story, and officials are trying to hide the facts.

The second current of change is the decision among all the women to be honest and unfrightened in their willingness to detail the brutality involved in these alleged rapes.

AOC admits to being caught off-guard on the depths of extreme misogyny, pain and injury that accompanied the alleged sexual activities by many of these men.

In decades of activism dedicated to curtailing the sexual abuse of women worldwide, I admit to being stunned at the depths of pain and suffering that these mostly men require for sexual pleasure.

Reality begs the question if it’s really about sex at all.

We have a case in New York filed against New York financier Howard Rubin and his personal assistant, Jennifer Powers, that is staggering in its claims of physical abuse against the women.

Love Us and Loathe Us

I’ve often said that there are three kinds of gay guys in luxury fashion: 1] men who basically loathe us, but we come in handy as the muse and VIC, and 2] men who truly love women. I’d say the ratio is about 2:1 in the loathe us: love us ratio. And there’s a group of great guys in the middle, who may not be gay at all, and they never sneer at us, when we’re not in the room. Group #1 sneers. Think the Italian futurists.

Tom Ford, hands down, is at the top of the “love us list” of designers. Marc Jacobs is up there as well, and his clothes often had sex appeal at Louis Vuitton. But Matthieu Blazy is reinventing the relationship between the designer and the client on a grand scale — in the world of male designers.

The fashion story takes us to Ladakh, which was never an isolated mountain kingdom; it was the vibrant pulse point of the Trans-Himalayan Silk Road from as early as the 2nd century BCE. Its primary town, Leh, acted as a massive commercial hub where the trade routes of Central Asia, South Asia, and Tibet converged.

Traders coming from China, India, and Persia had to navigate the brutal high-altitude passes of the Karakoram range and the Zoji La pass to reach Ladakh. Oasis settlements and villages in Ladakh’s high-altitude desert survived by operating as caravanserais [resting stops]. Here, exhausted traders swapped pack animals—exchanging horses and yaks for Central Asian Bactrian camels—while purchasing food, shelter, and fodder.

Blazy’s women are so on the move — much like Coco Chanel herself or Chanel’s fabulous CEO Leena Nair — that being suspended in stillness, even lying motionless on black sand — they are out-of-predicted behavior mode.

AOC’s Mycelium Man outsmarts us with a hard stop. I know; I know. Here she goes again with the mushrooms. Get used to it.

Nature’s underground mycelium network is always on my mind; as is Maria Grazia Chiuri’s ‘Less I, More Us’. It’s the absolute opposite view from the Sun King’s perspective.

Blazy’s entire process is so horizontal and so is Leena Nair’s, that I had to ask AI a technical question about volcanic sand, rock and ash.

Somehow, I knew the answer before I asked the question. Is that black sand truly inert — or could the Mycelium Man magically bring it to life?

A New Challenge: Her Little Lucci

The supermodel mother of three boys was recently toasting her favorite bottle of Lambrusco, calling it her fourth child, her little Lucci.

Graham is the founder of Lucci Lambrusco [IG] and she’s very serious about learning the art of winemaking.

Her journey to the unveiling of her fourth ‘young love’ started with a common classic modern move. “I ended up DMing a fifth-generation winemaker in Emilia-Romagna, Italy,” she explains, referring to the northern Italian region where authentic Lambrusco is produced.

Graham told the Miami New Times that her Lambrusco is very different from the too sweet version that was America’s most popular wine in the ‘80s. “It’s dry, it’s acidic, and it’s semi-secco.”
