Google has released developer only Google Glass couple of weeks ago and most of the developers who got a chance to wear one already started posting pictures and video clips taken using their Google Glass in Youtube, Flickr, Twitter, Facebook and Google Plus. Before starting with how to get ready to create apps for google glass, let me cover some recent happenings after google glass developer edition launch. It is really fun to watch how Glass feels when some one wear it in their every day life. The Tech pundit Robert Scoble has got his google glass and after using it for a week, he said “I will Never Live another day without a wearable computer on my Face”. He really liked the way Google Glass works and want to do more with it.

The only way to do more with Google Glass is to build more apps. Its not just about any app, its about quality apps that can use the full potential of the Glass by letting its users to do more in terms of Productivity, Entertainment and so on. Here we have a video where Robert Scoble Demonstrates Google Glass in TNW Conference.

Click here to view the embedded video.

In June 2012, Project Glass Team stunned the Google I/O participants and world audience with their demonstration. Sergey Brin has demonstrated the Google Glass with Athletes, Sky Diving and Mountain Biking professionals. He also shared his experience from the Glass view, and they all connected using Google Hangout. You can check out the video here.

Click here to view the embedded video.

Lets talk about Creating Apps for Google Glass, the guides, references and other resources that we currently have and like to suggest to you to start with the development. I will also make sure to update this article whenever i come across some new and useful resources relevant to this article.

Facebook, Twitter App for Google Glass

Third party app developers have recently launched two social networking apps for google glass users. Currently the developers who own Google Glass can only experiment this two social networking apps.

Glass to Facebook: It is now possible to post status update and pictures to facebook straight from Google Glass using this simple App. All you have to do is visit the linked page and allow access from your Google Account and then Allow Permission with the facebook app “Glass to Facebook“. You will then be able to share updates and photos taken on Google Glass straight to your Facebook account.

GlassTweet: Now this glass app allows you to post your status updates and photos directly to Twitter. The default limitation of posting your photos to Google Plus is not there anymore. You can update your twitter profile from your Google Glass. Techcrunch article about GlassTweet can show you how quick and easy it is now.

#throughglass twitter.com/drew/status/32…

Google Mirror API: Guidelines

This is a must watch video to understand about Google Glass Apps to make it User Friendly and Successful. Google Glass Overview and how people interact with google glass available in the Developers section will give you better idea with your development.

Click here to view the embedded video.

Google Mirror API lets you build web based services called Glassware, that interact with Google Glass. Glassware provides full functionality over a cloud based API which means, it is not present in the Glass and need to access it only through online. In google mirror api overview, you will see 5 important points and they are,

1. Managing Timeline Cards

2. Interacting with Menu Items

3. Subscribing to Timeline Notifications

4. Sharing to Contacts

5. Working with User Location

Google Glass Developer Guide for specific points mentioned above will help you understand it much better to get ready with your app development. Each part also includes the required Reference Documentation and UI Guidelines which are very essential as well. In order to build a successful google glass app, it is very important to read all those guides and understand how this glass app development is entirely different than others. Idea behind the glass is very simple and the target is also to keep things simple and clear.

Google Glass Developer Guides

Google currently has no plans to allow Glass App developers to monetize their Apps. Researches do believe that Google may allow this in future as it will give good chance for more developers to jump in and focus on bringing quality apps to change the google glass user experience way better than now. That is what google also wanted and there are also chances that google may let developers make money through its own advertisement monetizing programs.

As we know that Google Glass App Development is different from regular mobile app development, here are the Developer Guides and Glassware Quick start Guide to get you started with the glass app development.

Learn What Google Glass is About

Understand How the API Works

Ensure the Best User experience

The Glass References can also help you to understand better about Timeline, Cards, Attachments, Subscriptions, Locations and Contacts. Finally we have the Google Glass Developer Playground to let you experiment with how content is displayed on Glass. Google has also setup a community to discuss about development and ideas to best use the Google Mirror API. Bug Tracking and Problem solving can be done through this support communities. Stackoverflow, Github are the two communities and google glass issue tracker also setup to easily search and identify the status of issues already created.

Thanks for reading and you may now share this post in Facebook, Twitter or Google Plus.

Now you can keep the folders in top to organizes the files and folders better in finder.

TotalFinder Review

Total Finder is one small app that can modify and add some cool new essential features to your existing Finder in Mac OS X. I also tried a simple video demonstration to show the features of Total Finder App.

Click here to view the embedded video.

Cut and Paste

Now you can use Keyboard shortcuts to cut and paste any files or folders on your mac. Move files without any duplicate files and waste of storage problems. This will help you to do the file handling faster than ever before.

Tabbed Browsing

Now you can add Tabs into Finder windows that looks so similar to Google Chrome web browser. This can help you to copy or move files between different folders easily. Dual Window mode in TotalFinder app allows you to access the finder from any application. You can compare and move files quickly with this wonderful feature. This can eliminate duplicate files problem left in the copy process.

Folders on Top

When you view a drive or a directory, folders should be on top which can let you navigate and organize the files better. Once you installed TotalFinder App on Mac, it automatically displays folders on top without any additional modification. Perfect for List view mode to navigate and access the files and folders.

No need to install additional app or access command line tool to view the system files anymore. Total Finder brings that feature built in, and you can access all the system files and hidden files if needed. Usually system files are hidden for security purposes, where accidental deletion may affect the performance of your Mac and other Apps.

TotalFinder Visor

Facebook has launched Trusted Contacts feature couple of days ago to make the account recovery process much easier. Facebook also said, that it was testing this feature since 2011 and found it is really effective to recover facebook account easily and with better security measure in place as well. The only risk involved in Facebook Trusted Contacts feature is, you have to select few of your existing facebook friends whom you trust and add them to the Trusted Contacts list. If you have forgotten your password or your facebook account got compromised and unable to login to your facebook account, then this method will surely help.

Click here to view the embedded video.

There are hundreds and thousands of facebook accounts compromised or hacked ever day. Also many people unable to access their facebook account due to password forgot reasons and when they approach facebook support team for help, there will be no response in maximum case. For security reasons, it is not possible for facebook to address every password forgot accounts requests.

How to use Facebook Trusted Contacts ?

To make this simple and effective, facebook has introduced some better security feature in the name of Trusted Contacts. But beware, that if your friends whom you have added in the Trusted Contacts list want to play a prank with you, then no doubt, you will go crazy and it may lead to unwanted issues as well. So choose your Facebook Trusted Contacts carefully.

In order to setup facebook trusted contacts, you have to choose minimum 3 friends and maximum of 5 friends from your facebook contacts. Once done, you can use any three of the contacts to reset facebook account password if you have forgotten your login password or some one hacked your account, you can ask your friends to generate a security code from “http://facebook.com/recover” page. Once three of them sent you the security code generated by facebook recover page, you can proceed with password reset page and get your account back successfully.

In the official facebook announcement about this new security feature, they did mention about the important points you should remember before enabling this feature.

Choose people you trust, like friends you’d give a spare key to your house.

Choose people you can reach without using Facebook, ideally over the phone or in person, since you’ll need to contact them when you can’t log in.

Choose more people to help you. The more friends you choose, the more people who can help you when you need it.

This is a simple and easy to follow tutorial to update Google Nexus 7 to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean latest release. Nexus 7 is the first tablet from Google and the best one running Android. Yes, definitely. Coming at a really cheap price tag of $199 and $249, Nexus 7 is the best Android tablet device that the world has ever seen. Running a Nvidia Tegra 3 quad core processor, this tablet has been designed just for the gaming lovers. While Google launched this initially, this device was running Android 4.1 and the Android 4.1.2 update is being rolled out to every Nexus 7 user now. If you haven’t got your update yet, you can get that easily with this guide.

To get this update right now just follow these instructions and you’ll be running Android 4.1.2 on your Nexus 7 immediately.

Note : Your Nexus 7 must be running Android 4.1.1 – build JRO03D

For updating to Android 4.1.2, you should have the latest SDK files to connect your Nexus 7 to your computer with any hassle. You can get the latest SDK files at Android SDK. Make sure to download that and install first.

For Custom Recovery Users

If you have custom recovery and want to get Android 4.1.2, just download the update package from Google, copy it to your device, reboot to recovery and flash it to get Android 4.1.2. The same update package is for the stock recovery users too. Download this package and have safely in a directory on your PC or Mac or Linux. The download package is sized at 31.3 MB.

For Stock Recovery Users

If you have stock recovery and want to get Android 4.1.2 on your Nexus 7, you should follow these instructions.

Step 1: Reboot your device and press the Volume Down button while it’s rebooting.

Step 2: Once you see fastboot menu and the word Start, press Volume Up button few times till you see the recovery option. Now click Power button to enter recovery.

Step 3: You will now see an Android with red exclamation mark. Press the Volume Up and Power button together. Now you’ll see a menu.

Step 4: Click the second option in the menu named apply update from adb.

Step 5: Connect your Nexus 7 to your computer.

Step 6: Navigate to the folder where you downloaded the update package and open a command prompt in the same directory. Once the command prompt opens up, type in the following command : adb sideload 03a4eaf95f73.signed-nakasi-JZO54K-from-JRO03D.03a4eaf9.zip

Adobe Flash and Android – They split up a while back since the emergence of Android Jelly Bean. It is well known that iOS doesn’t support Adobe Flash and not gaining much popularity in tech world, the Adobe makers decided to kick out Android Jelly Bean too from their development list. And since then, Android and Flash have been apart from each other. Lets see how to install flash on android jelly bean mobile devices.

Flash has been one of the best tech developments this world has ever seen. Most of the things that we use on the web on a daily basis, run on Flash. Flash makes numerous things possible. The Multimedia stuff, MiniClip Games and many more require Flash to run. But now with advancement in Technology, HTML 5 has dominated Flash and has emerged the winner in this niche.

With the removal of Flash from Android Jelly Bean comes some serious consequences. With no flash support on Android Jelly Bean, it becomes nearly impossible to get the best experience at certain websites which still support flash. How to get through this issue ? Do you want flash to run on your Android Jelly Bean device too so that you can visit those websites which still use Flash ? This guide is sure to help you wish this issue. Though there is no further developments on Flash, the last updated Flash app has been exported as apk and shared my numerous geeks out there. The same app was available on Google Play too a while back, but it’s taken down now. Fortunately, as said earlier, the flash apk file is available on the web now and we can use them, thanks to the XDA developers.

Let me first explain how this thing works. You get the side loaded apk file. You should download that and install on your Android Jelly Bean device. And then you should use a flash supporting mobile browser like Mozilla Firefox or Dolphin Browser to use Flash made websites and enjoy all the fun. Pretty simple, right ? And let me put these instructions in a detailed manner.

Step 1: The side loaded apk file is available at http://d-h.st/x4v

Step 2: Download this on your Android device and store in your phone storage or external storage, whichever is comfortable for you.

Step 3: Once downloaded, click on that setup file and hit the Install button to install Adobe Flash on your Android Jelly Bean device.

Step 4: Next, open your Mozilla Firefox or Dolphin Browser.

Step 5: Go to settings and toggle on the Flash support.

Step 6: That’s it. Now access any flash made website and enjoy the fun.

There’s a drawback though with this method. It is said that flash might stop working if you update your browser on Google Play. So it’s best suggested that you don’t update these two web browsers.

So, did you find this guide to be useful to you. If yes, make sure to share this with your Android using friends too. And also, make sure to drop in some thoughts regarding any other better way to use Flash on Android Jelly Bean, in the comments section below this blog post. Thanks for reading and have a wonderful day !

As the way of doing business becomes more and more digitized, businesses have to find ways to store vast volumes of electronic data of all sorts. From taxes to employee and vendor information, storing all the information in-house can be more trouble than it’s worth. One option to avoid all this hassle is to utilize cloud storage services. Technological advancements are making this a more viable option for many, though it may still not be right for every business.

Google cloud print service is one popular and best example that i like to mention here. Learn how to use google cloud print here, and see how the printing task going to be easy from your mobile, tablet and computer remotely. The way business happens totally changed in the world of technology and Cloud started to play its part. G Cloud Backup offers automatic and free backup app for android and ios devices, so that you will not loose your important data that you store on your mobile, tablet devices.

Why a business should use cloud storage

Capacity – Cloud storage services allow companies to easily expand their available space as the need arises. Today’s business of only five employees and a few clients may need a small amount of space, but when that company grows in a couple of years its storage space can expand with it.

Disaster protection – Saving data to the cloud can protect a business if disaster, either natural or man-made, should strike. Servers can be damaged or stolen and if there is no other backup, that information is just lost. Saving it to a cloud system ensures that information can be quickly and easily retrieved in order to get the company back up and running again as soon as possible. Meanwhile, cloud providers take great pains to make sure their servers are as protected as possible from such events.

Security – Sending personal information about the company or its clients can seem risky, but cloud storage providers take measures to ensure that information stays safe. The best providers encrypt information during transmission as well as during storage.

Employee collaboration – Because the data is stored through the Internet, employees are able to access it through computers, smart phones or tablets as long as they can access the Internet. Files can easily be shared between workers even if vast distances separate them.

Why a business might avoid cloud storage

Sensitive information – Though the cloud servers may be protected from physical theft or damage, and security measures are in place, there’s still the tiny possibility of the information being accessed by an outside source. A business should be cautious with what it decides to back up on a cloud server.

Internet reliability – Cloud storage relies on the Internet so if that connection is lost, so is the data until it can be reestablished. In addition, moving large amounts of data can take long periods of time, especially if bandwidth is limited.

Privacy – Some cloud providers believe the files they store are theirs to do with what they will. This can cause problems for businesses, so it is important to read the terms before signing any agreement.

Cloud storage can be a big advantage for many businesses that need to store large amounts of digital data. Some caution should be used in deciding what will be backed up on the system, and sensitive information should be avoided. Storing in a cloud can improve efficiency as well as provide an easy method of backing up information a company needs to do business.

About: Lucy Matthews writes for a site that compares the best online backup companies and has more tips on choosing a cloud service.
