What will the new Big Tex look like? Well, now we can sort of put a face to him.

Officials with the State Fair of Texas have released another video, this one showing the design of Big Tex's face and hat. The Fair has been working on designing and building a new Big Tex since October when the longtime Fair icon was destroyed by fire.

Crews also have cleared the circle that once housed old Big Tex and now will begin constructing a new setting as home for the new creation.

What's left for the time-strapped Texas Legislature? Plenty

The Texas Legislature has six days to pass critical bills that affect businesses, education, water and the energy industry in particular.

The session ends on Memorial Day but Gov. Rick Perry has already threatened to call a special session if certain legislation doesn't reach his desk. Redistricting could be the main impetus behind the session.

For a look at bills that still have life in waning days of the legislature, click on the slideshow.

The move is important because it allows health care providers to get a more accurate picture of a patient's medical history, Pamela McNutt, the system's chief information officer, told me in an interview this morning.

Most cities in North Texas will have to observe mandatory water restrictions in June if they aren't already.

The Tarrant Regional Water District will implement the restrictions June 3, according to its website.

Rain from any storms this week won't be enough to stem the tide. The TRWD's capacity is currently at 76 percent but is expected to drop to 75 percent by June.

Joanne Yurich said Sprinkles is looking for sites in Fort Worth for its second North Texas location.

This comes as Dallas readies to receive two new Sprinkles products – its cupcake ATM and ice cream parlor.

The California-based bakery expects to install the cupcake ATM, which works exactly like a bank ATM but dispenses cupcakes instead of currency,…

The team said that Romo, who signed a $108 million contract extension in March, will be getting time to heal after he had a troublesome cyst removed last month from his back. The Cowboys said that Romo likely will be out of action for the next three weeks of OTA practices.

I found myself unable to enter the airport on the north end a few weeks ago as I must have passed the entrance. The lane were completely different from the last time I’d gone that way, as I’m sure many drivers out there can relate.

Luckily, I turned down Airfield Drive and made it in time to pick up my friend.
