Hi Dan,

Those are great pictures. With just a little more photoshop (or Gimp if you are me) tweaking you could warm up the colors quite a bit which would make the prints just a touch nicer. You probably already know how to do it, but on the off chance that you'd like help, I'd be happy to help. Let me know.

I had specifically turned compression off in case that was the problem. It looks like it isn't, so I just turned it back on (using gzip).

I'm not sure why a cookie would be causing an issue, but I'll turn on debug mode to see if I can figure it out. Thanks for helping.

I just noticed that you have a rejected cookie which means that cache files are not going to be built (for post pages, the home page seems fine), which is exactly why your previous test (without enhanced mode) didn't show a 50x-100x improvement over stock WordPress as it should have.

Anyway, either a plugin is adding some cookies and breaking caching or you've specified that some cookies be rejected, which makes caching impossible.

You can turn on debug mode in general settings so that more details about the caches you have enabled will appear in the front end HTML source. It also doesn't appear that at least gzip compression is used - you'll want to enable that.

Doug,

I'm sorry you are having trouble with the new version. I'm also sorry you aren't being escalated properly. Can you send me some information?

Option-click the Mozy menu bar icon

Select the "Collect Log Files..." option

Email the Zip file it creates to dan at mozy dot com

I'll see what the issue is and get back to you. If you want Mozy to stay off, you can run this command from the Terminal (and use "load" to turn in back on):

sudo launchctl unload /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.mozy.backup.plist

You can also contact Mozy staff on Twitter, Facebook, and GetSatisfaction.

A real Mozy person?! I've been stuck with Mozy tech support India for the last six days, getting nowhere, and I'd like to get in touch with somebody who can actually help. Sorry to barge into your Christmas vacation, but I've got a continuous reproducible crash with your new scanning system, since my Mac Mozy install auto-updated on Dec. 21. The MozyHomeBackup executable is crashing with a EXCBADACCESS (SIGSEGV) [segmentation fault], while scanning. It scans for 15 seconds to 6.5 minutes, then restarts, over and over. I've repaired permissions, turned off Time Machine, re-installed the latest version, and restarted. Same problem, no change. There doesn't seem to be any failure message; it just quits.

For now, I've made the MozyHomeBackup file non-executable, so it isn't chewing up my resources and my drives. But I'd really like to work with somebody who can shove a bunch of debug statements into the executable or figure out where it's crashing. I can't be the only one with this problem.

(I don't care if this comment is published; I just want to connect with a real Mozy programmer instead of going around in circles with tech support.)

Once disk enhanced is selected, look for any configuration notifications. Your .htaccess file needs to be updated, it will be done automatically if possible - that's about it.

I'd be happy to try it again. WP Super Cache has been having trouble recently, and I need to update the article anyway. Right now, I've switched back to Hyper Cache.

I thought I was using disk enhanced mode for page caching -- my web host doesn't support the other types. Is there anything special I have to do? I'll play with it more and post an update.

Thanks for commenting.

Hi Daniel, thanks for including W3 Total Cache here. Would you mind updating the post to show the performance of W3 Total Cache with the page cache in disk enhanced mode? In that case you should see improved performance even over WP Super Cache even without database, minify or CDN functionality.

Meanwhile if you do use minify and CDN (even self-hosted mode) you will be able to get most sites down to ~1.5-2s load time.

Use the including .htaccess file for additional optimizations to improve your second page load performance.

Thanks!

Thanks!
