Rane Twelve and Seventy-Two MKII

Rane throws down the gauntlet to all would-be challengers when it comes to Serato scratch mixers and controllers with the new MKII releases of the Twelve controller and the Seventy-Two mixer.

The Twelve MKII

The twelve is, quite possibly, the best vinyl-like experience to be had. It’s powerful motorized control system lets you take full advantage of the digital world with old-school look and feel. MKII expands beyond just Serato control this time around and now supports Traktor and Virtual DJ users via USB and DVS. You can even use it with a slipmat! What? How did they do that?

The Seventy-Two MKII

The Seventy-Two MKII Scratch Mixer is a beauty and well deserving of all of the accolades. It adds the top requested feature of a external crossfader tension adjust for quick and easy control of the feel of the crossfader. The MKII is also equiped with three new ultra-light MAG FOUR faders for the lightest and smoothest faders you’ve ever laid your grubby fingers on. The wizard behind the curtain is certainly that beautiful color touch-screen, not only does it show the moving waveforms of your tracks but it’s used for FX control and other performance tools. Yes, you’ve probably seen the articles about official Fyre Festival merchandise being auctioned off to try to recoup some cash for the victims of the Fyre Festival Massacre. Sweatshirts and Hats are going for $500 a piece! If you’re like me you probably thought, I could rock one of those hats, if only they were cheaper. Well, now you can thanks to the power of the Internet.

Fyre Festival Merch is available on Etsy until it gets taken down or something, so make haste.

If you have been living in a bubble, the Fyre Festival was the 2017 music festival slated to take place in the Bahamas. The event was promoted by Billy McFarland and Ja Rule and went crazy viral when they hired a bunch of worthless Instagram influencers to post a video showing a group of models frolicking on a beach. The event never happened as promised and left a bunch of people stranded in the bahamas with no money, food, water, shelter, or a way to get off the island. This is how it became known as Dumpster Fyre Festival and resulted in two documentaries.

The US Government seized some merch and is auctioning it off on the US Marshall website. Many items are going for hundreds of dollars and proceeds will help repay some of those that were defrauded. The above links are merely parody items, but and affordable option.

Remix DJ Harvey‘s 11 minute epic, Berghain track from his Locussolus album and lock in your spot on the tracklist for the newly remastered version of the album. Paul Oakenfold, once the #1 DJ in the world, was photographed drunken, unkempt, and apparently homeless in a Los Angeles bus depot. My how he has fallen.

His latest release Greatest Hits & Remixes, out Oct. 23 on Perfecto must not being doing too well. This collection features his remixes of Justin Timberlake, U2, Madonna, Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead and others.

(editor’s note: We have reports that this photo might not actually be Paul Oakenfold but rather one of the cast members of ABC’s new sitcom “Cavemen”. We’ll keep you posted.)
