2012 Alberta Winter Classic

This year, the 2012 Alberta Winter Classic will debut a new format by hosting a full day of Amateur Only DanceSport competitions. We have also mixed up the schedule to run the Senior I and II Standard/Smooth events including Championship levels and the Western Canadian Open Championship during the late afternoon. We will also move the Junior Gold to Championship events to the evening which will provide a balance to those attending just the daytime events or those taking in the full event. NOTE - The Alberta Winter Classic is the qualifier for all Championship DSAB members that plan to dance at the Canadian Closed Championships that are being held in April 2012 in Vancouver. There will be NO other qualifier if you cannot attend the AWC so don't miss it. Registration is NOW open at http://www.o2cm.com. Please note there is a $15 entry fee PER couple that must be paid in advance of the competition date. We are currently trying to set this up to be processed when you register. Ticket sale will be available in the next couple of days at http://www.albertawinterclassic.ca

The events page has been updated to help all of you plan your competition schedule. Wild Rose Ball is just around the corner in October followed closely by the NEW Rocky Mountain Grand Prix hosted by Jean Marc Genereux from So You Think You Can Dance Canada and Grand Ball in Richmond in November. We will start the new year off with a bang with the Northern Lights Classic running in early February which will serve as a great warmup for SnowBall Classic the following weekend. The Alberta Winter Classic will be held soon after at the Red & White Club and plans are well on the way for the 2012 Canadian Closed Championships being hosted by Vancouver over the Easter weekend. We wrap things up with the ever popular Calgary Open in May. Further information can be found by clicking on the links for their websites on the events page.

Your Qualifier for the Canadian Closed Championships

The Alberta Winter Classic has been designated as the qualifier for all Championship level DanceSport Alberta members that wish to dance at the Canadian Closed Championships being held in Toronto. Date: March 05, 2011 Location: RED & WHITE CLUB. Calgary, AB. AS OF JANUARY 1, 2011 NO ALTERNATE COMPETITIONS WILL BE ALLOWED AS THE QUALIFIER.

DanceSport Alberta uses these funds specifically to fund scholarships awarded at the Alberta Winter DanceSport Classic.
