Hmmm. What can I say about this track that will make you all rush out and buy it. Probably not much right? After all, here I am, an Aussie girl down under that doesnt know much. Right? Wrong! Ratpack's "Captain of the Ship" is an anthem. It represents an age of raving, dancing and pre-Anna-Wood conservatism to a generation of X-ers who feel that the old-skool is the only school. Captain of the Ship is a song that we danced to on walkmans on the way to work, in CD players in our bedrooms and blaring in the biggest and best of Sydney raves in the mid 1990's. And it recently had its 15 minutes of fame all over again. That's right. A reincarnation in the form of "Once upon a time" in Sydney's own "Angel Place" And if you were there, you dug it. But if you were there, and you knew it already from the old-skool days, lets just say that this song made quite a few people that evening...ecstatic. May the old-skool never die, and techno be remembered before the days of teeny bop and Here's Johnny!

At first I thought this music was very strange and didn't really enjoy it. The more I listen to it, the more I like it. Now I play it almost every day. It's kind of like Swingers. Nobody really likes it the first time they watch it but when you watch it again it's one of the funniest movies ever.

There's something about crazy frog...
My daughter wanted a Crazy Frog CD for her birthday. I had a vague notion of what Crazy Frog was - I had heard one song on the radio. I decided to read reviews from other parents on Amazon, and there were many positive statements. I ordered the CD, and my daughter was thrilled to receive it! She loaded it onto her IPod immediately. There is something about the music that makes you want to listen, to dance, to hear more! I haven't figured out exactly what that something is, though. But it's fun.

The nr. 1 single from 2005 from the album: 'Crazy Frog Presents Crazy Hits' "Popcorn" is the sophomore single release by Crazy Frog, released on the 22 August 2005. It is a remix of "Popcorn", originally a hit in 1969 for Gershon Kingsley and later in 1971 for Hot Butter. Jamba! once again arranged the remix.

Inaya Day "Nasty Girl" Album Review

Nice cover of the Vanity 6 classic.
Not many people have tried to do a straight up cover of Vanity 6's 1982 radio banned classic "Nasty Girl" but dance diva Inaya Day tries. This version is the US cd single (the Australian one has different mixes) and features 4 very well done mixes. This version is sung as if Brenda Bennett was the lead singer of Vanity 6 instead of Denise Matthews. BIG vocals. The sticking point for me and if you know the original version -- is that Ms. Day never utters the line that got the song banned from radio and the cover of so many stories-- "I need 7 inches or more" . Why that was not included is beyond me. It seems that Vanity in 1982 had more guts or sleeze than Inaya Day did in 2005. The mixes range from flat out bass driven house to tribal house.

Ace of Base "The Ultimate Collection" Album Review

Mid 90's mega-superstars Ace of Base may not be in the media spotlight here in the US, but fans can still enjoy this amazing box set. And let me tell you this collection has just about everything right. Included on the first two discs of the set are all the hits from the group in the original format (read European versions) as well as a few choice album songs and rarity singles. The third disc (housed in the packaging sleeve) is a bonus disc that contains some of the groups remixes; mainly from "The Sign/Happy Nation" era. It would have been great to have some rarer remixes included on the remix disc, especially for fans importing from non-european markets.

The packaging of the set is well done as well. The digipak opens to the casings holding the first two discs; with the third disc and an booklet kept in the outer flaps. The quality is great and some thought was put in the collection.

Another big draw for "The Ulitmate Collection" is the sound remastering. Lots of things are remastered these days, but the process work quite well for the older tracks on the album. Each sounds a bit clearer and equalized. Well done.

For fans looking to complete their Ace of Base collection...there isn't much newness here to offer. But for those that feel the need to aquire a great tribute to some of the best pop music since Abba..."The Ultimate Collection" is a must have.

If you're a Nik fan, you probably already have most of what's on this CD except for 4 or 5 tunes. The new songs are superb as were his last 2 CDs - To Be Frank and 15 Minutes. He's one of the best song writers of our time, and the quality of the production that goes into the songs can't be beat. You can get the CD for less if you order from Amazon.co.uk. Even with the exchange rate and shipping charge it cost me about $21 instead of the $40 if ordered from this US site.

Incredible Flashdance remake!!!
Deep Dish called their song Flashdance, then proceeded to sample a different song from that soundtrack in the song. So, to add another track from that soundtrack to your Flashdance remake collection, DON'T MISS this single!!! The vocalist who resings Irene Cara's famous chorus does an excellent job of getting the inflections of Irene's original vocal, and musically, the group has perfectly captured the instrumentation of the original and looped it to a stompin beat in a variety of slammin' mixes. 7 tracks in all, 3 of which are radio edits, the others full length club mixes. This is much along the lines of Eric Prydz remix of Steve Winwood's Valeria (aka: Call on Me)

You can't be sad around Ilona
My wife is a high school French teacher, so this CD was a must for her. The music is very much Euro-Electronic Pop, but it's so darn catchy and fun, that it's scary. Even if you're like me and you don't speak any French, you'll find yourself singing these songs and smiling. This is great music for children especially, because the singer is a 13-year old French girl, and it's so darn sweet and bouncy that it's infectious for adults as well. It's great party music for kids and adults alike- this review is coming from someone who doesn't speak any French and who usually listens to Swedish black metal!

1983) Singer Shannon hit gold with the trendsetting, pulsating dance classic "Let the Music Play" and other similar-sounding hits in the mid-'80s. Born Brenda Shannon Greene in Washington, D.C. in 1958, she grew up in Brooklyn and while at college, joined the New York Jazz Ensemble as a singer. While a member, she met drummer Lenny White and sang with Brownstone, which led to some recording. One single, 1983's "Let the Music Play," was issued on the New York-based dance label Emergency Records as a 12" single with Shannon listed as the artist. Produced by Mark Liggett and Chris Barbosa, the track's upfront heavy, staccato beats and synth bass marked it as an electro single, The record became a monster club hit, pumped its way up to the pop Top Ten, and sold a million copies. Her debut album titled Let the Music Play was issued in February 1984 and went gold, peaking at number 32 pop in March 1984. Shannon followed that up with the Top Ten R&B hit "Give Me Tonight" and "My Heart's Divided." Do You Wanna Get Away was the title of her second Mirage album, issued in May 1985. The title track single hit number 13 R&B in spring 1985. Her third album Love Goes All the Way was released on Atlantic in 1986, with the singles "Dancin," "Criminal," and "Prove Me Right." Shannon's career was remarkably short-lived, however, due in part to the closing of Emergency Records, some litigation surrounding "Let the Music Play," the decline of dance-oriented radio stations, the loss of club airtime on mainstream radio stations, and the inevitable "Let the Music Play" sound-alike clones that surfaced. Nevertheless, Shannon appeared on a 1999 segment of VH1's Where Are They Now, vowing to return to the top of the charts; the following spring she released the album The Best Is Yet to Come. ~ Ed Hogan, All Music Guide

The latest cd from the group Mr. President... I haven't bought a cd from them since their first full length album Mr. President. After hearing the very happy uplifting song Love, Sex & Sunshine......I decided i wanted this album to see how they have changed throughout the years. This is a 2 disc set: The first disc contains 19 music tracks: 1. Constantly (intro) 2. You're The One For Me......a very good start 3. Love, Sex, & Sunshine...this is one awesome sounding song...very happy and makes u want to sing and dance 4. Forever & One Day...Very good song with this new happy beat 5. Every Little Move I Make..pretty good 6. Watch Out For The Summer...I like the beat...Very nice 7. You Are The Sun.......good 8. Show Me Love....slower sound but i am getting to like this new sound 9. All In The Game....ok 10. Jack In The Box...different 11. Smile....ok 12. Jippijaeo..this is probably the closest they get to their old sound ...very happy...i like it 13. Let's Get It On...good song 14. Miracle (bonus track) Glad to get this bonus song...very nice 15. The 2nd disc is in Dvd Format #2 unplayable on most dvd players in the U.S. but i was able to play it on my computer after i changed my dvd drive to area 2.

I spent a long time pricing this cd....and you are quite lucky if you find it for less than $30.00 but with 19 music tracks and video clips and extras I am glad i bought it. It was well worth the price ....They have changed very much since their first album Mr. President...and sometimes change is a good thing and i think it was a great thing for Mr. President....I fell in love with this new sound in most of their songs. You wouldn't know it was them if it wasn't for the very distinct voices of the female vocalists.

Milky's single is the best piece of Italo NRG pop
This is the third I think single from Milky. The first was (back in 2002) Just The Way You Are with different girl in the video but the same voice LOL. The second - pretty infectious In My Mind.
And the third is this. By the way, the first time I heard it, that was Italian version and I like it a lot. And it was mmmmm somewhere in summer of 2003. Then this song was all over radio in English in 2004. And from all her 3 singles this one is the best! Pure Italo dance, a piece of Euro dance - name it how you want. And it sounds fresh and nice today too.

I "Desire"d Results... I Didn't Get Them.
After "Ride It" was released, I could tell that the next single from Geri Halliwell was gonna conquer the world. However, "Desire" proved me wrong. Peaking at #22 and falling in the charts after that, Geri had reasonably failed.

THE SONG: It took me a couple of times to get used to this new ELECTRIC style Geri was bringing, but eventually, I came around. I love this song now. It's a different kind of pop no Spice has ever done before.

THE REMIXES: Lame. You need remixes that you just wonder, "Geez, this really puts a whole new spin on the song... and it's a positive spin!" Geri's best remixes are the "Lift Me Up", "Scream If You Wanna Go Faster", and "Ride It" remixes. Geri, you shoulda gone to Hex Hector or the Sharp Brothers.

Love you, Geri. Love the song, Geri. Hate the remixes. Live and learn, love.

CATCHY BUT NOTHING SPECIAL
I purchased this CD after reading reviews that were submitted on Amazon. The music isn't bad, but after listening to the CD about a dozen times, I'm already tired of it. Once in a while, an artist like DJ Taucher or Armin Van Buuren comes along and you can't get enough of their music. Ashley Jade is extremely HOT but her music is just average. I highly recommend anything that Water Music Records puts out. You just have to be careful because there's some garbage out there. My other recommendation is to purchase Trance from Neurodisc Records. You won't be disappointed.

Jane Child "Don't Wanna Fall in Love" Album Review

Teddy Riley at his best!
When this single first came out back in like 1990, it was when the whole "New Jack Swing" scene was reaching it stride. I saw an interview with Teddy Riley years ago saying he thought about quitting the music business, before he did this remix. Fortunately he didn't.

The remixes and dubs on this maxi-cd (thank god I found it), encompasses all the signature sounds and breaks that made Teddy's production such a hit in the 90's. The two tracks that stand out for me are track 2, The T.R. Dub and track 6, the T.R. Club-A-Dub, clocking in at a staggering 7:23. With the first dub, its more of the instrumental of the remix, with vocal dubs from Jane Child, and Teddy and his engineer cutting a chopping it lovely.

The T.R. Club-A-Dub is where Mr. Riley gets loose demonstrating his skills on the keys, and dramatic drum programs. And what I appreaciate most about this track (and all the beats on this single), is you get that classic breakdown in the beat, that today's 21st century R&B/Hip Hop songs just don't provide.

If you are fan of the late 80's/early 90's New Jack Swing sound, do yourself a favor and shell out a couple dollars,euros,pesos and get this cd single.

Arsenium is just really hot. He's come a long way since his days with Ozone.

The songs are very straightforward; he doesn't beat around the bush. He tries valiantly to sing in other languages, and he does a decent job. The songs are just really catchy and will make you want to sing and dance along. They're not musical masterpieces, but they are feel-good songs that will without a doubt raise your spirits.

What's this love I see?
SCOOTER'S GREATNESS!
Back in the house, Scooter has released another single EP based on "The Night", taken from the full 2003 album, "The Stadium Techno Experience". This is one of Scooter's best songs, and in my opinion, this short album has some good remixes. A little known fact is that The Night is actually based on an Italian disco (Italo) song from 1984 by the very obscure Valerie Dore. If you ever come across this song, it's very euro-disco 80's sounding, with cheesy lyrics. The main chorus in Scooter's The Night (the high-pitched voice) is also the main chorus in the original song from 22 years ago. The original song had some other lyrics in addition to the main chorus, but Scooter doesn't include these. On the whole, Scooter's Night is much better than the original.

THE NIGHT (RADIO EDIT) - This song is similar to the one on The Stadium Tehcno Experience. It has a couple of extra lyrics by H.P. Baxxter, and there is a happy hardcore piano playing chords with the chorus.

THE NIGHT (CLUB MIX)- The club mix is like the orginal Scooter Night, except without H.P.'s voice. There is some extra percussion at the beginning and end.

THE NIGHT (STARSPLASH REMIX)- This is probably the most interesting remix. It features a synthesizer playing the chorus in addition to the high-piched female voice. There is a cool rhythm towards the end of the song.

THE NIGHT (LANGENHAGEN REMIX) - This remix is weird. There's a phone call between two Germans at the beginning and end, and a rather dissonant theme throughout the piece. Halfway through the song, the high-pitched vocal keeps repeating "What's this love". It gets kind of annoying after a while.

CORDYLINE - I don't even know why this song is on here. It's got nothing to do with The Night. It's probably the best piece on the album, though. It has a nice chord progression, and features some piano riffs and licks halfway through the song. Cordyline has a techno beat, and really reaches out to the soul. One of Scooter's more melancholy songs.

The music video to "The Night" is as strange as H.P. Baxxter's hair. The beginning has H.P. on a table with wheels, without clothes except for a cloth. He looks dead, as he is rolled between two other tables with a man and a woman, both without any clothes on (you must remember that Europeans don't care about nudity; it doesn't mean anything to them). He wakes up, and yells, "Rumble in the jungle!" The rest of the clip features H.P., Jay, and Rick as three men in lab coats bringing what appear to be a dead man and woman to life, and they fall in love. It's almost like the Adam and Eve story, a la Scooter. I don't get it at all. But who cares? It's Scooter! The music is awesome, and that's all that matters!!

The reason why I love this CD was the fact while watching a concert I heard this strange track that went well with the review concert which I found out that the song is Lbby Haba. I knew I had to buy this CD in a hurry and ever since I quite enjoy it. With songs like The Rise, Rise Again who stars Loona who has been singing for DJ Sammy for some time now has a great voice to go with the songs. A great CD worth hearing to over and over again better get them while they last.

Not sure which CD-Single amazon.com has here, but I'll assume it's the one with 9 tracks. Balloon makes techno, hardstyle music. That ain't my thing. As for the remixes, they're of the same variety. So what's the catch? The Pulsar Crew Trance Mix. This massive trance bomb is the hit of the disc, completely different from the other versions. The melodic trance sound is similar to Rank 1. The mix is deceptive, too. It starts off hard, just like the other remixes. But then everything slows down, the bass glides along, the piano does its thing. Then all hell breaks loose. Superb.

if you like relaxing trance, get this one A.S.A.P.
First time I heard this dance music at a club, damnnn, I just started dancing right away. I love this, "DON'T STOP". ATB rocks, and I even got a copy for myself. "9 P.M." and "Dont Stop", have a bit similarities it's just that they changed the style. I don't have 9 pm yet, but I'm pretty sure I'll be the first one to get it. If you like trance, and more relaxing, I recommend you to get 9 P.M. and Don't Stop and enjoy yourself dancing.

Way overlooked & underrated effort from dat Q girl
Finally, a chance to fill in the previously missing chapter of Stacey Q's brief history on the charts! Ms. Q, aka Stacey Swain, followed up Better Than Heaven, which yielded the #3 hit "Two of Hearts," with Hard Machine in 1988. While nothing there hit the Top 40, the material there is more distinctive rather than the filler that plagued the latter songs of her debut. Much of her vocals is mid-range, little of the high-pitched girlishly cute vocals that made "Two of Hearts" a hit. It does help in establishing her in a more serious mode.

Many of the songs had single potential, but not "Don't Make A Fool of Yourself," whose rather pokey and uninspired rhythms only made it to #66. So much for the advice of that song.

Why not release "Favorite Things," which opens with some sound effects of stuff clattering on the floor, which is then followed with a cute strolling rhythm? Probably because it would have been perceived as a clone of Madonna's "True Blue." It's still enjoyable, given the joy one feels at finding someone whose interests are mutual. Yes, there is a list of what are some favourite things, albeit more of a materialistic bent.

"Kiss It All Goodbye" was also a much better choice as a single, with its perky synths and upbeat rhythms. However, the best song here hands down is "The River," beginning as it does with a racing drum section, a rock guitar keeping up in pace in this entry of early 80's techno, and keyboard chords.

The second single, "I Love You," didn't make the Hot 100 singles chart, but is basically "Two of Hearts Part II-Deuces are Wild," synths and girlish vocals. Seriously, this too was a better chart contender despite any accusations that this was more of the same.

The title track has Q rapping over a funky bass synth and the other instruments. This is her own attempt at a "Rapture"-type tune, minus any singing, and it isn't bad, with some atmospheric synths at places. The hard machine seems to be embodied in the guitar solo played mid-song by Rusty Anderson. "After Hours" is Q's version of Madonna's "Holiday" and "Where's The Party" rolled up in one, done in her mid-range vocals and a more brisk beat. Another candidate for a single, as is the album closer, the lullaby-like ballad, "Another Chance."

Jon St. James remained at the producer's helm. That same year, he produced a girl duo named Bardeux, whose sound and lead singer sounded like Stacey Q to a tee. Only my respect for Ms. Q prevents me from wondering if Stacey "Acacia" Smith was an alias, as both their initials are S.S.

A much better and way overlooked sophomore effort from Stacey Q. Now if only they'd released the other songs from here as the first single, she would've gone on to greater things, but then again, cult status is also good.

A great reworking of a good album track.
Alice Deejay is a fabulous euro/techno/pop dance act from Holland. They are three girls with great dance moves! I have seen the act on British TV and it is awesome. Danski and Delmundo are the DJ's and Producers for both the Vengaboys and Alice Deejay. Danski's and Delmundo's work is truly incredible. They have taken a good song off "Who Needs Guitars Anyway" by Alice Deejay, completely reworked it and turned it into a GREAT song, especially with the XXL remix. I believe the cd single is in the Top Ten UK singles charts. I highly recommend this cd single. Buy the album too, it is superb.

Get It Now!
When I first heard "Have a Good Time" on the dance radio station my brother and I listen to, I was hooked. Although I missed out on the CD give away the station was running, I wasn't about to give up. I found the disc here on Amazon and probably spent about 5 minutes just going through the track previews. After I finally got around to buying the item along with some Tranformers DVDs, I immediatly plopped the disc in my radio to listen to. I was overall pleased with the tracks. (for some reason, though, "Come to Me" sounds staticky on my MP3 player-see reviews for Insigina 4GB) "That Voice" grew on me after awhile, and "No More Innocence" started off weird, but I learned to appreciate it once they started rocking out. Again, "Have A Good Time" was an automatic favorite; and then I heard the dance remix, and nearly blasted my ear drums in pure delight!
As a previous viewer stated, don't let the cover fool you, this is a musical marvel for the dance/electronica appreciators. I just wish these guys had some more stuff out there, it would be a shame for them to go into obscurity with such talent.

A deserved triumph
It is not a mystery why this disc was as successful as it became. Nine years after its initial release, the songs sound as fresh and enticing as they did when I first listened to it. The program is full of pulsating dance numbers: "Believe," "Strong Enough," "All Or Nothing." Cher reworks one of her moderate hits from the late 1980s, "We All Sleep Alone," into a beat-driven disco song. And "Dov'e L'Amore" is a song reminiscent of her Snuff Garrett days, appropriately modernized.

Cher's continuing ability to realign herself in center stage after a period of relative dormancy proved undiminished when "Believe" hit the airwaves. An odd mish-mosh of mixes...some collectibles...
This bizarre compilation could probably have benefited from a 2 disc set, considering some of their dance chart hits and mixes were left off and I believe a couple of these mixes are edits...I know for sure "Thrill Me" has about a half a minute shaved off. And the inclusion of the Club 69 DUB of "Ain't That a Lot of Love" is a HUGE disappointment, considering the vocal mix has never surfaced on CD as far as I know. Then there's the inclusion of a later house mix of Money's Too Tight and not the original 12" (although, this version is very hot). I'm sure other's might have some gripes about some of the song selection, but I think everyone could have been happy if the label had really gone for it and given us a 2-disc set. Track times:

Eric Prydz (and Valerie) called on me...
If you're looking for a high-energy song that's perfect for workouts, motivation, or just plain fun this is the one. Eric Prydz is someone who will likely become a one-hit wonder, as this song came out almost three years ago and he hasn't made any impact yet, yet he was able to cash in on Steve Winwood's "Valerie" by mixing the refrain into an upbeat melody that comes in several flavors on this disc.

Most of them have the same general feel to them, but there is one worth nothing, and that is the JJ Stockholm Club Mix. It's got more of a funk feel to it and has a killer bass line. It's not the version most people are used to hearing but is probably the most impressive mix on this disc.

While the music video gained notoriety for its risque workout scenes, I must admit this song is perfect for exactly that. I find it works best for cardio myself.

I listened to this because Mark Hoppus talks about them on his podcast. Like buddyhead the dude has a great sense of humour but kinda indiscriminate taste in music. What struck me immediately is how much the vocals sound like Depeche Mode, and more new DP than old DP. The music generally seems unambitious and not even very contemporary. It reminds me more than anything of a more understated version of INXS and to a lesser extent U2, exhibiting a similarly faceless blend of pop and rock that brings it's pop leanings to the forefront but never really achieves any distinct or memorable hooks or melodies. I guess the fact that they're on 33rd Street Records, a label that generally releases hopelessly outdated conservative unhip music, and boasts a website that looks like it was designed by an 8 year old down's syndrome sufferer, seems apt.

A great set from a band that knows how to groove
I saw this Band LIVE and was totally motivated to get some discs. It has been my experience that many bands I see live never really capture the essence of what the band is about or can do to their CD offering. Perhaps this is to expectation, but it is really the whole reason behind why I want to buy music.

Lotus's album Nomad is great album. pretty much every song grooves well. Much of the songs that caught my attention in the live show where on this disk. While the Live versions are much longer and more of a jam is style with seamless transitions, the essence of what Lotus is about is on this Album. I also got the live album Germination, which I am eager to have a listen. It is by hope that the band just records their jams and refine them slightly to fit on disk.. This is what keeps the deep groove going..

Bears no comparison to Prince, if you're wondering. These guys are far superior, IMHO...

A Brand New Album
This is a great new album from the singer Rebeca. SHe is a dance artist from Spain. She is very talented, pretty, and underated. Tatuaje- This is the song that was mainly promoted on the tv show Gran Hermano 3 in Spain. It is a typical Rebeca song, fast and dance. Very catchy.Eso No Es Amor- In my opinion this is the best song on the album. It has that latin feel that is popular now. Can be compared to Thalia, Patricia Manterola, or Kabah.Supernatural- The only song written by Rebeca, it keeps the album going strong with a soft dance and strong vocals. Also a fast paced typical Rebeca song.Eres Tu- I beleive this song is on the Innis album and is recorded as a solo and as a duet with Rebeca on his album. Here it is just Rebeca singing it. Beautiful ballad.Tocame Donde Mas Me Duela- Another fast song not the euro sound Rebeca is known for but good.Calor- Very good fast dance song. Originally recorded by the group Rios De Gloria also from Spain on thier Desafiame album. Rebeca puts a more powerful feel to it. This song is also included in the Caribe 2003 cd.Sabado Noche- This song is more house. It is a cute song but not one of my favorits.Vive- Another excellent remix. This is the remake of the Kabah song Vive from quite a few years back. SHe really sings it great. Not much of a difference in the song just the vocals. It is really great.De Cara A La Pared- A slow ballad not typical in Rebeca albums but good.Simplemente Amor- THis is a fast song that reminds me of again that latin feel we saw in the second song. It has flashbacks of Brava.Te Esperare- This time Rebeca decided to end the album with a ballad. Not a bad choice, SHe always does a great job.

Great dance track from Italy
A new Larry Pignagnoli production (Whigfield, Spagna, JK,...), the original mix is a nice change from the latest italian dance (at least there are no vocoder effects!) with a catchy melody and beautiful vocals by Dhany ("Dha Dha Tune", "Quiero Respirar", "Shut up", "Somebody To Touch Me" and "Street Life"). If you are into euro dance from the mid 90's, you should love it!

Jessy "Rain" Album Review

From my point of view........
I discovered Jessy from the UltraTrance:2 cd and DVD set. Her video is entitled "Look @ Me Now" and it is the second video on the DVD (There is another version of this video as well.)

I was instantly hooked on the song. Although I have downloaded most of her songs, I still wanted to have her cd, as in, a REAL cd and not just songs put together from here and there.

I work as a photographer for some Tampa Bay Area Djs and I get to listen to the hot new stuff before it hits the stores and I get asked for my honest opinions and now, I shall do the same for Jessy:

Buy Jessy's album. Seriously. It's a great album and it showcases her voice on different rhythms/beats and she does a stellar job.

Her voice is "different." It is not really that high pitched. It has this, "mellow" tone to it and that is fine.

One of the problems that I found with this cd is that there were no remix tracks. Most, if not ALL of the songs here are begging to be remixed into hard trance/house/Florida Breakbeats tracks. I know that "Dancing In The Dark" has some dance remixes floating around but the original ballad is one of the best that I have heard in ages, and I do not listen to "slow songs" at all, but this one here, really takes the cake.

I really do not know what else to say. All I know is that I love the cd, she is great artist and I wish her the best. And I heard that her live shows ROCK.

Now that, I would love too see;)

For a fan of funky House...
...this is as good as it gets. The what-I-like-to-call "House girls" always singing in the back isn't usually my thing, but this still holds on as an easy listening album for all fans of funky dance/electronic music. Some good, low groooovy beats... plenty of good tracks. Over here in Europe it'll keep the dance floors going...

Deepest Blue "Late September" Album Review

Sounds like nothing special & weak versions of other bands
I first heard of Deepest Blue from the 'Deepest Blue' John Hopkins Mix on the Ministry of Sounds Chillout Sessions 2004 CD. I really love this version of the song & this made me want to track down the bands other works, this CD.

Well, I know the track I love & still strongly recommend is a remix. That remix's are always different from the bands original version of the song but I was really amazed just how different it was. I expected something more in lines the the other Ministry of Sounds CD's I have.

What I got was a weak, cross between erasure & Savage Garden! That was a shock, there are good songs on the album but nothing as strong as either band unfortunately.

Also the remix CD has not go the 'Deepest Blue' John Hopkins Mix on it either. The remix CD is nothing & is nothing special in anyway.

All in all, very disappointed in the CD's but still recommend tracking down Chillout Sessions 2004 & sticking with the John Hopkins Mix on that album.

This single was recently a big hit overseas and it's easy to see why - it's positively infectious - four mixes in all and a nice funky video to boot. I don't normally buy singles but I couldn't find this one on a comp so I sprung for it. I was pleasantly surprised to find some very generous mixes and a real nice video- Definitely worth buying

2 Stars...One for each good track on here
It stinks that I have to give this such a low rating, but the remixes on this single suffer from a serious lack of likeability...the radio edit and the original mix are the only two tracks on here worth owning. I was not impressed by the slow moving near lifeless Sergio Santiago mix, nor the trying-to-hard to make nothing happen tracks from Solid Groove...so long as you are just buying this for the originals, you won't be disappointed...They are great! However, if you are looking for some good remixes of this track...keep on looking because they aren't on this one.

Moonlight vs Azoto "San Salvador" Album Review

No moonlight necessary!
With an unyielding beat that not only provides a solid blueprint to the infectious and lovely melody, but also offers an unrejectable invitation to just get lost in the dance, "San Salvador" stands the test of time and is arguably the best single by italo-dance-pop group Azoto.

The trouble with this release is that Moonlight does not take the song or itself seriously. What's the point of "remixing" a song where there isn't much remixing but silly turntable-playing? For starters, Moonlight should take a look at and listen to Yaz' 2003 "Situation/Don't Go" single. Then maybe this valuable lesson in revisiting a classic will inspire it to do better in future attempts at remixing or having a mano-a-mano with other artists and/or their songs. DJs, the remixers themselves, are professionals who never compromise neither the quality of the song nor their artistry at their remixing it. There's even now a Grammy category that not only recognizes but also honors their work.

The fact that this classic is available on CD is worth giving it a five-star rating. Skip the Moonlight Vs. Azoto mixes. The instrumental version
would have been great as the B-side just like in the original 12" release back in 1980. Will "Soft Emotion" finally become available on CD? Let's hope for a better treatment of Azoto's music next time around.
