About the Fractalpus Project

Fractalpus is a sound collage and mashup project I started to tinker with a few years ago and have been given the opportunity to bring new life to it.

The goal of the project is to create compositions from existing sounds in our universe. I’ve always been a huge lover of sampling and think it has it’s place in the spectrum of Found Art.

Further, the goal of the project is to collect familiar and somewhat less familiar sounds and mix them together to create something new. I want to experiment with all types of ideas, everything from creating just good mixes towards wild mixes of combining textures and sounds in contrasting or complimenting ways, or just for fun.

Eventually, I want to take my favorite compositions and re-score them and re-instrument them into completely new compositions. Which was the original goal of this project. I was thinking beyond just a simple, that’s cool mashup, to the next step in potential music evolution. At least in the world of Fractalpus.

I’m inspired by many artist, but I found a lot of inspiration on this project from and endless influence of the Hip Hop genre and deeper with the artists, The Avalanches, Soulwax (2 Many DJs), Girl Talk, Hood Internet, Aphex Twin, and many-many more.

I have registered the url fractalpus.com, but haven’t posted much (or anything) on there yet. Please check back on that as that may no longer be the case and it could be filled with rich content and experiments.

Kramerica Gives provides Scholarships for High-Achieving Students.

This website was build with simplicity in mind.

The goals of the site were simple but meaningfull:

Have an official website to connect with students and describe what Kramerica does
Share stories about Scholarships
Have a way for students to sign-up for scholarships
Ability to collect donations via PayPal

How Do I Say Website

“How Do I Say” is a website to quickly practice or learn words and phrases in the users current language of interest. It was designed to help users learn their favorite language by teaching them common phrases used in the language they are trying to learn. This website is still new and I only have a few languages listed, but as the site grows I will be adding other languages and features.

My goal is to discover a way I can set myself apart from other types of sites like this.

As of November 2017, I decided to let this domain expire and thus moved it to a subdomain. I would like to take what I learned from this website and explore a conversation-interface for it and thus will rebrand it.

The goals of this project were:

Build something light and useful
Reinforce and help others learn a language of their choice
Test out SEO strategies to see if this type of thing could rank well on google, bing, etc
- I was testing domain keyword value, e.g. search: “How do I say hello in french” would be met with a URL how-do-i-say.com/hello-french/
Place Ads on the site to see if I could generate some revenue from this
Automation of repetitive tasks
Discover a fun and new way to engage users.

An Entrepreneur is someone who solves problems through scalable solutions.

C (Control)

Do you own the land you build your business on? Could someone slip the carpet from right under you?
Are you reliant on a single platform like Amazon, YouTube, Google Organic Search alone?
If 90% of your sales are based on one single platform like Amazon, they could kick you off and kill your business.
If 100% of your business comes from an organic Google algorithm and that algorithm changes, you are in trouble.
Look to diversify your income stream.
I assume ‘a job’ violates control as well ;)
I also assume this goes for equity control over your business as well.

E (Entry)

How easy or difficult is it to get into business? If anyone off the street can start the same business by filling out a form, you are violating entry. A business with zero entry barriers is a cattle call.
The essence of Entrepreneurship is problem solving.
It must have a level of difficulty.
If you think a problem is too hard then you are not in the business to solve real problems you are in the business of making “easy money” and this will not be as successful as the further. The latter creates money-chasing Wantreprenuers.

N (Need)

Solve a REAL problem.
The only reason for a business to exist is to SOLVE A PROBLEM
- Examples:
  - Eradicate inconvenience
  - Provide better service
  - Fill Needs
  - Make things easier
  - Satisfy wants and cravings
Follow passions if the market actually wants it.

T (Time)

The product must exist in time and stand alone without your connection to it.
Does it serve while you are away?
Your goal is to get away from the worst relationship ever created, your time for money.
Time honored business are usually involved in the act of creation.
- Food products
- Web software
- Games
- Anything that exist independent of you.

S (Scale)

Can it be scaled or replicated with ease.
Your product scales but your work doesn’t.
