A tutorial on creating a reflection in photoshop. We take a photograph, distort it a bit to give it some perspective and add a bit of thickness to it by adding a fill mask. We then proceed to the reflection.

I share a little background and history behind my career endeavors and cover what pushes me to become the best creative I can be as well as my current goal I set out for myself in becoming a great motion graphics designer. I talk about how Digital Kitchen started me on this journey to become a motion graphics designer through an article about them I came across in 2004. From that article I became inspired to research and learn about the art of motion graphics. A creative individual is who I am and grew up to be and shaping and morphing myself in the direction I want to go creatively is completely in my hands. This love and passion for creativity is what drives me in my career and since that article I’ve decided to move that creative path towards Motion Graphics. What Inspires you? What are your passions? This is a quick tip to show you how to properly screen colors in Adobe Illustrator. Make sure your working in the CMYK color space, use spot colors that can be matched at press, pick a color and screen it with a percentage. DON’T USE TRANSPARENCY!

Wow! This could be a sneak peak into the future. Morph objects on demand to fit our human needs. How could this relate to Motion Graphics, 3D design? In this screencast I cover preparing a file in photoshop to be used in illustrator to create a bezier shape to use in after effects as a mask. I also show you a quick demonstration on how you can manipulate those masks for some cool animations. Imagine how you could implement some cool effects.

You can see how I used this technique in the motion project below. I used the radio waves effect in After Effects with the masks to create this nice smoke effect.
