This is a test.

Most of you are going to think these are obvious and only a complete idiot wouldn’t know them, but after being involved in a strategic venture break-up, I thought I would re-post these as a reminder. Yes, there are some people who actually believe a verbal agreement is good enough to move forward. Those people almost always find these things out the hard way.

1. Be clear on all job responsibilities and have them on paper.
2. You must have contracts in place for everything.
3. Be aware of who you work with, and their work ethic.
4. Make sure there aren’t any cash flow problems.
5. Know the difference between an employee & independent contractor.
6. Have an exit strategy.

If you run a WHOIS on the absolutely awesome Gary Vaynerchuk‘s domain name, GaryVaynerchuk.com, using DomainTools you will notice it’s FOR SALE!

Fortunately, it’s definitely not true – unless Gary isn’t tell us something? It’s actually something I find very interesting – especially since I am active as a domainer with a very large domain name portfolio.

This example illustrates that a previous owner or cyber-squatter once owned Gary’s domain before he ever became a “household name”. Gary likely had to use legal channels or actually pay to get this domain – and now the only thing remaining is the original auction listing at Sedo where the previous owner posted the domain for sale.

So please, if you have any plans or aspirations to get famous by Crushing It – then you definitely need to secure your domain names!!!

With all the recent buzz surrounding iPhone OS 4.0 – one thing just boggles my mind… the possibilities for advertisers, both locally or nationally, to broadcast their message to all those eyeballs.

While I am not certain at this point whether you can control ad placement by geo parameters (like with Facebook Ads) it would be quite revolutionary if you could.

A great example is when a user goes to “Check In” using Foursquare or Gowalla – they are presented with an advertisement by a competing restaurant or maybe a service or business that compliments their current destination.

Better yet, an advertiser could broadcast a discount or coupon if you were to switch to their restaurant.

The possibilities really are infinite with something like this – and it’s a really engaging method of advertising that I think would produce a solid ROI and measured effectively.
