air bounce a backhand or forehand throw that is released slightly downward, but is buoyed by a cushion of air. [also swoopie]
alligator catch a catch made with both hands coming together in a clapping motion on the top and bottom of the disc simultaneously. [also pancake]
aggro abbr. aggressive. Referring to poor spirited, overly aggressive play by an individual or team. ("I can't believe how aggro they are") [see spirit]
away the side of the field opposite to where your team has piled its gear. To force away would be to force the thrower to throw toward the away side of the field. [see home, force]
backhand a standard throw; right-handed player places thumb on top of disc, curls fingers underneath, extends arm to left side of body. [see flick]
banana cut an easy to follow cut where the offensive player runs in an arc instead of sharply changing direction. [see cut]
bear-ninja-cowboy to determine who begins the game, instead of a flipping two discs, a team may opt to do bear-ninja-cowboy instead. Bear beats ninja; ninja beats cowboy; and cowboy beats bear. To do this, representatives from each team stand back to back, walk three paces, turn around and act out their chosen character. [see ro-sham-bo]
bender same as outside-in.
bid an impressive attempt to catch the disc.
bingo a receiver pre-designated to catch the disc in the endzone and score the point.
blade a throw that goes high in the air and curves hard toward the ground on its edge. [also knife, tomahawk]
boulder cut a cut where the offensive player runs as if to go long and then cuts back toward the thrower. A reverse boulder involves the offensive player running toward the disc and then running long. [see cut, long]
box a scrimmage version of ultimate played with a half field and less players where the disc must be caught in a small square area marked by cones. [see goaltimate]
break-force a throw which moves the disc to an area of the field away from where the marker is forcing the thrower. [also break, break-mark, break the force; see force, line]
brick the rule allowing the receiving team to start from the middle of the field at the point where the disc went out or a point ten yards upfield from the goal line they are defending if the disc landed out of bounds. The thrower must call "brick" before the disc hits the ground. [also middle(1); see pull]
bullet any throw that is thrown with a great deal of speed.
butterfly cut a sideways cut made directly in front of the thrower. [see cut]

check 1 in a man-on defence the player of the opposing team that each player pairs up with to defend and the act of defending against that player. 2 the defense player that covers the thrower within three meters. [also mark, marker]
check disc stopping play to throw the game disc back and forth to check for damage to the disc shown by wobble in its flight. [see road disc]
chilly to slow down play and not throw the disc away by being hasty. Used instead of yelling "you've got time!" so as to not inadvertently cause a time-out.
clear to run out of the passing lanes in order to avoid clogging after an unsuccessful cut. [see clog, cut]
clog to prevent good cuts by standing in the way of your teammates and not clearing, [see clear, cut]
cone any marker used to mark the boundaries of the playing field, usually consisting of triangle and flat cones. [see pylon]
conservation of greatness the fact that a player who has just made a great play and as a result has possession of the disc is likely to commit a throwing error turnover due to the rush of adrenaline from the great play. [also rule 6]
corkscrew a throw similar to the hammer but the disc is held in a backhand grip rather than a forehand grip, so that the disc flattens out and curves the opposite way from the hammer. [see hammer, scoober, thumber, U-D]
cup in a zone defence when two or more defensive players mark the thrower and move with the disc when it is thrown. [see mark, zone]
cut a run by a receiver to shake his defender. [see banana cut, boulder cut, butterfly cut, clear, clog]
D abbr. defense.
deep 1 a defensive or offensive player who generally stays in the area of field furthest toward the endzone to be scored in. 2 v. to run toward your endzone as an offensive player. [also long; see strike]
disc the "Frisbee" used in Ultimate with an official weight of 175 grams. [see virgin plastic]
disc in called by the marker or player to signal that the disc is in play. [see check]
double happiness the feeling you get when you block the opposing player's pass on defence and then immediately cut and receive the disc to score the point.
drop when a defender falls back to cover the deepest cutting receiver, leaving the thrower or another receiver to be covered hopefully by another defender. [see check, switch]
dump 1 to pass the disc backwards. 2 an offensive player positioned as to receive a dump pass.

eso-iso abbr. estrogen isolation. An offensive strategy used to group a players of a gender to play the disc exclusively so as to capitalize on any bad matches.
fake a motion made by the thrower to cause his mark to believe he is going throw one direction instead of another.
field 1 the playing surface. 2 a set of cones used to mark the boundaries of the playing surface. [see cone]
fish 1 used in a salmon zone, the fish is the defensive player responsible for forcing the disc towards one side of the field. The fish is the only player that marks the disc. 2 (Southern U.S.) A player who is confused and/or not running/moving as well as other players on the field. Derived from the term "fish out of water". A fish is often scored upon, and usually poached off of. A fish is so bad that no matter whom the fish is covering, it�s always a mismatch. Fish is also a relative term: an intermediate player who finds himself in a top-level game might wind up being the fish. [see pylon]
flick a throw similar to skipping a stone across water where the thrower holds the disc with the thumb on top of the disc and the first two or three fingers underneath. [also forehand; see backhand]
flow when the offensive team connects a number of passes together to advance the disc toward the endzone they are attacking.
force when a defensive player positions in such a way as to allow the thrower to only be able to throw the disc to one part of the field. The direction you want them to throw is the direction of the force. [see away, home, middle]
forehand same as flick.

gratuitous used to describe a showoff move (e.g. layout, hammer) that, while impressive, was not remotely necessary. ("He had an easy bid, but he went for the gratuitous layout")
gender across used to indicate that each defending player is going to check the corresponding player of the same gender on the line directly across from them. [see check, mark]
give'n'go when two players pass the disc back and forth repeatedly as they move forward.
go through called out to advise a player not to pick up the disc off the ground after a turnover but to run forward and allow the disc to be picked up by a player further back. [also push]
goaltimate a commercialized version of box using a round field and a large arch that the disc must be thrown through to score. [see box]
greatest, the where a player leaps from in-bounds and while in the air catches and throws the disc to a teammate before landing out of bounds, and by doing so the receiver's team maintains possession. As the name implies, it is "the greatest" play in Ultimate. [see stupidest, the]
hack a foul.
hammer an overhead throw with a forehand grip in which the disc is released at an angle so that it flattens out and flies upside down. [also tomahawk, see corkscrew, scoober, thumber, U-D]
handler 1 one of a team's primary throwers. 2 in a standard zone offence, one of the three players who swing the disc from one side of the field.
heckle the art of standing on the sideline and teasing the players on field through the use of inventive language and/or psychological manipulation.
high release a backhand throw held and released over the thrower's head; very difficult to block.
ho abbr. horizontal. ("Why didn't you go ho for that disc") [see layout]
home the side of the field where your team has piled its gear. To force home would be to force the thrower to throw toward the home side of the field. [see away, force]
hospital pass a high floating pass which has the effect of bringing two or more players together into a collision as they sky for the disc.
hot 1 something good or great. ("hot bid") [also sweet] 2 high intensity. ("hot D") [see chilly]
huck a long throw, equivalent to a long bomb in football. [also pipe]

I-O abbr. inside-out.
ibu abbr. Ibuprofin. Used almost fanatically by Ultimate players. [also vitamin I]
inside-out as a backhand, a throw to the right that curves left; as a forehand, a throw to the left that curves right. [also hyzer(New Mexico/Texas)]
jellyroll when all players of both teams join hands to form one long line after a game and then one end begins to run around the stationary other end until the line has rolled up.

karma as used in ultimate, karma refers to the positive or negative effect of spirit upon the play. For example, a person can block a pass without touching it if his effort to get there deserves it. ("Great karma D"), or a player's ability may be negatively affected by their bad spirit.
knife same as blade.
land shark occasionally a group of players will lift a completely naked male on their shoulders with a disc wedged between his buttocks and proceed to run around the field chanting "land shark!" [also land porpoise {female}, see Sea World]
layout the act of diving while running in order to catch a disc out of your ordinary reach. ("If you didn't catch it, you should have laid out"). [see ho]
line 1 when each team stands in a row at the front of their endzones at the start of each point so that the players of the other team can choose their check ("Hey you guys, hold the line!") [see check]. 2 the sideline portion of the field. To yell "no line!" is to tell the marker to prevent a throw down the sideline. [see force, break-force]
line-force to force the thrower to only throw along the sideline that the thrower is standing at. [see force, line]
look off when the thrower does not throw the disc to an open receiver.
long same as deep.

mac abbr. Midflight Attitude Correction or Mid Air Change. The act of redirecting a disc while its in flight to another player without catching it.
mac line a fun game where two or more people stand in a line and a thrower throws the disc down the line to a receiver with each player in the line attempting to continuously "mac" the disc to the next player. [see mac (above)]
man-on defensive strategy where each player picks one player from the opposing team to defend against during the point.
mark same as check.
marker same as check(2).
mid 1 a receiver who cuts for shorter passes than the long [see long] 2 in zone play, the defensive players in the area immediately behind the cup. In standard zone defence the positions are mid-left, mid-mid and mid-right across the field from left to right as you face the opposing team.
middle 1 same as brick. 2 the center area of the field. ("Let's force middle") [see away, force, home]
naked point when players strip off their clothes and play a point naked. Done for spirit, it is painful on the layout. [see spirit]
no huck called out to advise the marker to switch the force to prevent a huck to a striking player. [see huck, marker, strike]

O abbr. offense.
O-B abbr. out of bounds.
O-I abbr. outside-in.
O�Maley the equivalent of a "hack" in hackey-sack where all the players touch the frisbee at least once before scoring.
outside-in as a backhand, a throw to the left that curves right; as a forehand, a throw to the right that curves left. [also reverse curve, bender(New Mexico/Texas)]
pancake same as alligator catch.
pick an intentional or unintentional block (like basketball) where a player gets between you and the player you are covering.
pipe same as huck ("Watch out, he's going to pipe it!")
picking up garbage when a player manages to catch another player's bad throw. [see swill]
pivot foot the stationary foot (left for right handers and right for left handers) that a thrower pivots around in order to throw around the marker. [see travel]
poach 1 the act of leaving your check during man-on defence in order to cover an area of the field. [see man-on] 2 any player who attempts this act.
point 1 the single value of each score 2 the play up until the score ("Wow, that was a long point").
popper in a zone, an offensive player that cuts in and out for a short pass.
pull the long (hopefully) throw that begins the possession after each point.
punt a long throw with no realistic receiver, used to escape bad field position.
push same as go through.
push pass a slow moving forehand throw that spins in the opposite direction as a flick.
pylon not to be confused with a cone, a pylon is a player that never receives the disc in a game. [see cone]

read the art of judging the precise landing spot of the disc through observation of angle of the disc, speed, direction of travel and wind effect in order to perfect a catch or block.("Nice read!").
reverse curve same as outside-in.
revs abbr. revolutions. refers to the amount of spin placed on a disc by a thrower.
roller a disc thrown so that it lands on its edge on the ground and rolls. Effective pull in windy conditions. [see pull]
ro-sham-bo rock-paper-scissors. Used in Ultimate on occasion to determine who begins the game. [see bear-ninja-cowboy]
road disc any damaged disc, usually caused by repeated impacts with the ground or paved surfaces. [also street meat; see check disc, taco]
rule 6 same as conservation of greatness.
run through what you shout to tell another player to run past the disc without picking it up.

savage playing without subs.
scoober a fast, difficult to intercept throw. Similar to a hammer, a scoober is thrown with all wrist and no arm. [see corkscrew, hammer, thumber, U-D]
scorpion a badly executed layout when the player lands on his or her upper chest or face resulting in the player's back arching and feet flying forward over their head. [see layout, ho]
Sea World when a land porpoise and a land shark are simultaneously hoisted up and one is tossed over the other. [see land shark]
sky jumping to catch the disc.
snack food a long high throw that passes near one or more defensive players and is easily intercepted. ("tossing up snack food')
spirit The spirit of sportsmanship which places the responsibility for fair play on the player. Highly competitive play is encouraged, but never at the expense of the bond of mutual respect between players, adherence to the agreed upon rules of the game, or the basic joy of play. "Win-at-all-costs" behavior is contrary to spirit.
stack offensive strategy in which all the players line up down the middle of the field and alternately make cuts out of the stack to be open receivers.
stall count the defensive player counts out loud to ten while marking the thrower. The offensive player must throw the disc before the first utterance of the word ten otherwise it's a turnover.
street meat same as road disc.
strike 1 to cut long as an offensive player. [see cut, long] 2 same as no huck.
strip when a defensive player knocks or takes the disc out of an offensive player's hands.
stupidest, the in a misjudged attempt to do "the greatest" when a player leaps from in-bounds and while in the air catches and throws the disc to no-one in the middle of the field for a turnover before landing still in-bounds. It is "the stupidest" because had they held onto the disc they would have maintained possession. [see greatest, the]
SOTG abbr. spirit of the game. [see spirit]
sweet same as hot(1).
swill a bad throw. [see picking up garbage]
swing 1 to pass the disc laterally. 2 a player positioned to receive a swing pass. [see dump, zone]
switch when two defenders exchange the offensive players that they are marking. [see check]
swoopie same as air bounce.
T-O abbr. turnover. Possession changing to the opposing team during play.
taco a tacoed disc is one that is bent and wobbles in the air when thrown [see road disc].
tomahawk same as blade or hammer.
thumber a throw similar to the hammer but the disc is held with the thumb underneath. [see corkscrew, hammer, scoober, U-D]
top in a three person cup, the defensive player in the center of the cup who prevents the forward pass. [see cup, zone]
trap to force an offensive player who has possession of the disc at a sideline to only be able to throw along that sideline. [see force]
travel illegal movement by the player with the disc when a player moves his/her pivot foot or takes unnecessary steps after the catch or changes directions while slowing down. [see pivot foot]

U-D abbr. upside-down. Any pass thrown where the disc is released upside down. [see corkscrew, hammer, scoober, thumber]
ulti-slut 1 a player who moves from team to team to team in an effort to play on a better team. 2 a player who plays on a number of teams.
ultimate Ultimate is a non-contact sport played by two seven player teams. The disc may only be moved by passing as the thrower is not allowed to take any steps. Any time a pass is incomplete, intercepted, knocked-down, or contacts an out-of-bounds area, a turnover occurs, resulting in an immediate change of possession of the disc. A goal is scored when a player successfully passes the disc to a teammate in the endzone which that team is attacking.
ultimate time the reference to the fact that any ultimate related activity never starts or finishes on time.
up! called aloud by defensive players to alert teammates that the disc is in the air.
virgin plastic a disc in mint condition that had never been used or hit pavement. [see disc]
vitamin I same as ibuprofin.

zone a defensive strategy characterized by one or more players on the defensive team not marking a player on the opposing team, but an area. [see cup, fish, long, mid, top]

Last September 19-20, 2009 the Ultimate Frisbee Team From Iligan City hosted this disc related sports to provide invaluable insight into and knowledge of the game. The game also gave us an insight to see the "bigger picture" of Ultimate Frisbee sport has evolved immensely in Mindanao regions.

REGISTRATION AND WAIVER
Participants are enjoined to accomplish registration form indicating the specific event he/she intends to join not later than an hour before the start of all the events on August 15, 2009.

Entries shall be admitted officially upon payment of Entry Fee amounting to P250.00 each participant.

Entry Fee shall cover Souvenir T-Shirt, Event ID, Dinner during the awarding ceremonies, Raffle stub and the privilege to join all the games he/she intends to join.

Participants below 18 years old are required to execute a Waiver.

PRIZES
Total of 30,000.00 worth of Prizes are at stake.

Awarding Ceremony will be held 1 hour after the last event of the 2nd Day (August 16, 2009).

Kudos to the Ultimate Team Of Tacurong!

As Ultimate Frisbee has grown its popularity around Philippines, Ultimate team from Tacurong has followed its suit in creating a team of its own. Just as the sport is relatively young to the team- the team had risk its decision to join the tournament.

Last March 28-29, 2009 the Dabaw Summit-Ultimate Frisbee Challenge held at Davao City High School.The tournament, resulting in 7 competing teams from different places of South Central Mindanao and approximately there are more than a hundred members and spectators on the property over the course of Saturday and Sunday.

Well, sad to say we lost but the team got the "spirit of the game award"

RICO BLANCO: Your Universe

After his controversial exit as front man of the known Banda ng Bayan. The former Rivermaya vocalist Rico Blanco, released his new and first solo album entitled "Your Universe" it is jam packed with 10 strong and poetic tracks.

Rico Blanco (born March 17, 1973) is a Filipino musician. He is one of the founders of Filipino rock band Rivermaya, where he served as vocalist, pianist, guitarist, and chief songwriter from 1993 to 2007. Blanco has so far recorded, written and produced more local and regional number one hits than any other musician since 1994, and has sold over a million albums in the Philippines and Southeast Asia during that period.

Aside from being the chief songwriter of Rivermaya, Blanco has also arranged and written the music for the United Nations MDG theme "Tayo Tayo Rin" as well as the Philippine Department of Tourism theme "Biyahe Tayo" both of which were performed by veteran Filipino musicians, such as Freddie Aguilar, the Apo Hiking Society, Lea Salonga, and Sharon Cuneta. He has also co-written the theme song for the South East Asian Games, "Posible" and theme song of ABS-CBN news program "Bandila".

I Travel Light

"Simplicity is making the journey of life with just enough baggage."

Now, when i travel i learned to travel light. When i went out of town trip i only carry my blue pack bag with my selected collection of pouchbag and travelling kit (toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant to cologne) , and of course enough budget to spend for my fare, meals, snacks and other things.

There are so many advantages to travelling light-less to carry, fewer things to keep track of, fewer things to wash, to iron, clean or repair; fewer things to buy, which means less pressure to earn and spend; in general, i will have a greater sense of freedom.

So whats the disadvantages? You're afraid you might end up needing that pink skirt or lime green dress shirt?hehehehe. Traveling light may sometimes decrease my personal choice somewhat, but it will also free me from the stress of unnecessary decesions, it increase my focus on the important things and providing greater flexibility. I may well wonder how i ever did it any other way.

Let go of the extraneous, go out and travel, go and do blogging!

2nd Annual PENEK BUSAY

"I have great time to be with this event with more than a hundred mountain climber from different group of mountaineers in Mindanao region. Seeing their enthusiasm to conquer our common goal to get in touch and mystify the wonderful creation that we had witnessed in our journey even it was a tongue dropping -stamina draining climb."

27 September 2008, after wrestling on my work early in the morning i started to packed my things and fix myself so i can come early to our waiting area with my co-TAMAC team. Six of us departed in Tacurong at exactly 6:00 AM.

At early of 9:00 in the morning we reach Digos City, Freedom Park our jump-off area. We had our registration in their and we were delighted a breakfast in a carenderia along their market. We need to pamper our stomach to condition ourself to endure our agility and strengths for this climb.

With our conditioned soul because of full-heavy breakfast that we had, we backed to the park to prepare our things going to Brgy. Goma. The truck whom to fetch us going to the trail site was already backed after giving a ride to the first batch of rabid climbers. A 45 minutes of raging ride going to the site exhaust myself due to heavy sunlight and irritated dust ooze to my delicate and "holy skin"-whew!

Atlas! we already reach the Brgy. Goma Community, upon our arrival the first batch of climbers were started to head their walk. Us, we find comfort rooms to pee and indulge ...buti nalang at lawit ang nasasa akin, pasensya nalng sa mga may hiwa kahit papano men can easily find a comfort to relax their urinary system. Before we leave a youth representative give us an orientation about their place and after that we had a solemn prayer.

From then, we start our happing. Imagine this! I was totally driven to enjoy every scenic view that i had seen. The river, trees, mountains, the trail and the most-the water falls...whoa! It was so damn-great-peaceful things to view, to feel , to breath and to taste. The water falls is so relaxing that soothes and relaxed my oozing backaches. Every other falls that i've happed i pause, i breathe, i observed, i meditate, i give respect to unseen creatures. I bathe, i swim, i pee, i drink in the basins of water falls that we've reached. I always do take time to enjoy my moment with nature. In every climb-in every travel that i've been i enjoyed. I didn't waste any single moment to experience new things that i know i am going to treasure. A moment that i know i can be proud of. Up to know i' am still guided by my principle in my journey- and that is to " Endure, Explore, Experience life to the limits."

Up to now, i do have hangover of this event and i'am pissed, i cant finish my writings in this activity because of the unrecoverable photos from our photographer from Bukidnon "Emong. Cabal now is one of the fastest growing online game in the country.It is an action MMORPG game, pronounced as kah-ball (From the Korean pronunciation), set in a 3rd person view perspective. Like most modern MMORPG games, it includes a skill and class system, PvP system, and a guild system. It also utilizes a combo system within its gameplay that allows players to have more powerful attacks based on timing.

The primary aspect of leveling in the game is through quests. Quests can progress the storyline, or be a "side" quest. Generally, quests involve players traveling to a location and killing monsters, either a certain quantity, or in order to obtain certain item drops, or by completing dungeon quests. This the reason why i got addicted to it, beacasue the quest are enjoyable and the music is relaxing that soothes my ears to get my nerves relaxed.

Right now i created one character though you can create as many as you can. There are ^ character where you can choose from but my choice is a "FORCE SHIELDER" The creation of the Astral Shield opened a new chapter in the history of Nevarethian armor. The Astral Shield has such high defense strength that it can serve offensive purposes as well. Some Warriors and Bladers, who desperately needed a new way to fight and defend have become Force Shielders. They wanted higher defense as well as establishing their own unique battle style.

Thus, they started using the heaviest armor such as Warrior's Armor Suit while carrying the Astral Shield. Force Shielders specialize in short-range force control, which means that they are incapable of doing long-range attacks except through magic. However, they make up for this weakness by developing supporting magic spells which increase their attack strength by manipulating outer forces near their bodies. It's these methods which match those of the Wizard's strongest asset.

In line with the celebration of the World Blood Donor Day on June 14, 2008, the South East Asian Region Red Cross/Red Crescent National Societies held its 1st Regional Banner Competition with the theme: “Voluntary Blood Donation… We can Do!” The winning banner of this competition will be used as the prototype design for the upcoming World Blood Donor Day collaterals for the South East Asia Region Red Cross/Red Crescent National Societies (Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Indonesia). The Philippine National Red Cross - National Blood Services proudly competed its two entries from the National Blood Center and the Davao City Red Cross Chapter. These two entries of the National Blood Services are the triumphed winners of the local PNRC Banner Competition held particularly for the South East Asian Regional Banner contest. This is just one of the advocacy strategies of the Philippines and the other South East Asian countries towards its main goal… 100% Voluntary Blood Donation Nation by 2010.

My Educational Philosophy

My teaching philosophy is to be an advocate for learners of all creeds and backgrounds by offering a diverse and nurturing learning environment. As a teacher I believe in assuring that every student develops confidence, competence and independence through the education they receive in my classroom. My mission is to offer a challenging, safe and secure learning environment that promotes high academic standards, fosters self-esteem, and empowers students to be well-rounded individuals who are life long learners and productive members of society. I am student centered in my approach to teaching and I believe my role is a guide along the trail of learning.

While studying the many different philosophies of education I related most to Social Reconstructionism, Progressivism, and Existentialism. I believe that these philosophies are student centered and more progressive than the other philosophies. After reading about Essentialism and Perennialism, I realized they were very different from how I view the role of teacher and schools. The ideas related to students learning key things and enjoying the learning process I did believe to be true. I feel my philosophy puts the learner first and allows for new an innovative ways of teaching.

There are three main philosophies that I share many common beliefs with. I want to look at each one and then some of the statements I related to most strongly. The first and highest scoring amongst the three was Social Reconstructivism. The main concept that Freire focuses on in this philosophy is that school can be a place where people can gather education and rise above their socioeconomic status and then turn around and offer a hand to others who are in need of help through education and reform. Freire wanted to rebel against-institutions that create oppression and treat the elite as if they deserve wealth and the poor as if they deserve their situation. Freire believed if we do not learn in school how to change the world for the better, where will we?

The statement from the philosophy I most identified with from Social Reconstructivism was, “Education should enable students to recognize injustices in society, and schools should promote projects to redress social inequities”. I do not think there is a subject that a good teacher could not tie to that statement. Math teaches the numbers and statistics of our poor and mistreated, language teaches us the way to express ourselves in order to reach out to other cultures and groups. Education can help us make the world a better place for ourselves through success in education and for others by what we contribute to society.

The second philosophy I related with was the Progressivism philosophy. I think education should be about progress and giving the learner the tools they will need in an ever changing world. As I watched the news I saw a great example of Dewey’s real world experience learning on television. A local school had a smashed car on display to show teens the negative effects of reckless driving. This was teaching the kids a real world lesson that could save their lives. In education if we can give the student the experiences that can create great thinkers it is a valuable way to teach. You can have gravity explained to you a thousands times but the first time you try to fly from your roof it really sinks in. Personally I am a strong believer in real life experiences. After college I traveled Europe for 3 months and learned more there than I had in many a classroom. The concept that best describes my take on Progressivism is, “The gap between real world and schools should be bridged through field trips, internships, and adult mentors”. This becomes painfully obvious to fresh from college graduates who sit in an interview and are asked, “What experience do you have?” This gap between the textbook and the real world is often wide and deep and it should be a main objective of teachers to fill it.

The third area I encompass in my own beliefs is Existentialism. This philosophy is learning through self-direction. No one can tell you what you value but yourself. This teaches you to decide for yourself what you want to do with your life. This is very important. Too many times people wake up at age 40 and say, “What have I done with my life?” It would be better to be guided in this question at an early age with the help of an experienced teacher. “Effective teachers help student to discover and develop their personal values, even when those values conflict with traditional ones”.

My philosophy of teaching is concentrated around the goals I would like to accomplish as a teacher. My ambition is to teach learners to use higher-level cognition is every subject I teach and take these skills with them in every aspect of their life. To help learners develop creative thinking and learn to be self guided will be a valuable tool they can carry with them as they develop. I do believe that reflection and adaptation of my teaching style will benefit me and the learner. I love to learn and teach and plan on sharing this passion with every student every day in my classrom.

I've been wrestling with the decision for a few days and would love some second opinions from those who've either GRADUATED a delligent student. Thoughts?

Well, it in fact this is my 10th year waiting for luck and miracles seeing myself holding a diploma to show to the world that i owe a degree. But where?

Now i'm running as a "suma" in our school- sumasampung taon na po akong nakikibaka upang makatapos sa aking pag-aaral. Congratulation!

When I started college I promised that I'd see my degree all the way through, and chose a course I'd like -so that I would have the best of both worlds. As my studying progressed and I learned what the course was really like, I began to get frustrated with my choice of majors, but held to my promise. Now I'm finally getting into my production courses in my final year and it's been a total love-hate relationship with my degree. But I'm sticking it out. So whats the problem?

Yea, I probably should have considered my attitude this a long time before I came creeping up. I was pissed by the events that came in my life during the times that i'm in school. I lost my self control, I let my self deduce by a freakin-hog problem. to be continued...

When Philon of Byzantium declared the Ancient 7 Wonders, the then-known world was very small, spanning around the Eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea. Today, of course, we are aware of the 7 continents that make up the globe—our world is much larger than that of 2,000 years ago. Should this mean that there should be, instead of only 7, maybe 21, 100, or why not even 1,000 New Wonders of the World? This logical question has been asked often over the past years. However, it is not only in tribute to the original Greek concept that New7Wonders has stuck with the number 7 in the first campaign and now in the current campaign … there is another very interesting and important reason for this. It is a fact that 7 is not only a magical number, but also a very practical one: 7 things is exactly the number of things that the average person can remember

When people are asked to choose a number between one and 10, the most popular choice is 7, all over the world. 7 is a number that appears in nearly every facet of human life. Here are just a few examples: 7 is the number of periods (or rows) of elements on the periodic table in chemistry. On a more aesthetic level of science, ROYGBIV (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet) are the 7 colors that make up white light—these are also what we marvel at in each rainbow. With very few exceptions, all mammals’ necks have 7 bones. In addition to the traditional 7 seas in many cultures, 7 is also the number of stellar objects in the solar system visible to the naked eye: the sun, the moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn. There are also 7 external holes in the human head: two eyes, two nostrils, two ears and one mouth.

Every religion and culture assigns a special place to the number 7. The Jewish Torah and the Christian Old Testament recount that God rested on and sanctified the 7th day, and in the Roman Catholic belief, there are 7 sacraments. Of course, the 7 Deadly Sins and the 7 Virtues that are well known in Western culture may also come to mind. Further East, Buddha walked 7 steps at his birth. And in the North American heritage, 7 is the definitive number in Cherokee cosmology. In Islamic tradition, 7 is used to symbolize infinity and is also the number of heavens and earths. Ancient Egyptians saw the number 7 as a symbol of eternal life. In Japanese mythology, you will find 7 Lucky Gods. In Hinduism, the cycle of rebirths goes through 7 stages before the soul attains moksha, or salvation, and in everyday Indian life, the 7 levels of consciousness play an important role, connected to the 7 main chakras of the body.

Musically, 7 is the number of notes in the traditional Western major scale. Throughout world music, literature, film and television, as well as in the sports world in many cultures, the number 7 has featured frequently—a sign of how powerfully it appeals to people everywhere and during different eras. Looking at modern communications, 7 is also the number of digits in an American or Canadian telephone number, excluding the area code. We use a 7-day week in the vast majority of today’s world. And many people say they are "in 7th heaven" when they are really happy.

7= memory + challenge

But beside these manifestations that are part of and deeply rooted in the cultures around the world, 7 is simply a practical number that makes life easier for all of us. Since George A. Miller, a respected professor of psychology at Princeton University, introduced his theory of "the magical number 7" in 1956, our short-term memory is generally considered to have the capacity for around 7 elements. While some scientists may speak of even less than 7, what this really means is that the average human (children included) can remember 7 digits, letters, words, or other units with just a little brainwork. This small effort is what solidifies it in our memory. hello guys, this my not be my first time to write a blog. But making greater sense could me unusual stuff for me. Right now, just right now-im proud with too much pride for myself being the one tough guy who can beat the odds of his life and get even with the denominators. I'ts so amazing boosting my morale cause i earned esteem and dignity which i never asked from anyone. I was trapped inside the egg shell but now i am like one of the dinos who can fight my predetors without looking back and thinking consecuences. I made my self strong, i am now my self-my own strenght, my own world, my blog. I can throw bog now---i learned the word revenge, it was already present in my vocabulary, now be careful and i can stab you back. I'm good but i know and i learned to a be badroach. This is just my first here---hope i can enjoy staying here.
