With a lot of influence from one of my new favorite textile designers, Maryanne Moodie, and the support of my fiber-loving friends, I've recently dived into weaving. Its such a fun way to experiment with texture and color. Plus it let's me use all those amazing yarns I've hoarded over the years. This is only my second piece and it was done on a makeshift cardboard loom as opposed to the wooden lap loom my boyfriend made for me. Working this small, appox. 5" x 7", allows for an easy travel craft. I can bring it with me wherever I might anticipate a break to work on it.

I love the idea of choosing a color palette with some significance behind it. One of my absolute favorite photographs pretty much ever was actually taken by my uncle during a thunderstorm in Texas this past spring. It has these striking shades of pink across black and purple storm clouds. I couldn't help but use it for inspiration.

SUMMER ADVENTURES

I find myself only sharing here seasonally, which is actually how I've always divided my life. Even the folders on my desktop are arranged by season and year. The undergrad work I did was the same. All in all: sorry, not sorry for the long absence.

Summer roadtrip adventures down the Pacific coast, into the desert and to the gulf coast of Texas for an epic wedding and friend reunion. I only wish we'd had an extra week to take things a little slower. I did solidify that the colors of the desert are some of my favorite and the light in the Pacific Northwest can't be matched by anywhere else in the US.

WINTER JAMS

Winter has finally arrived in the NW and I've caught the knitting bug again. I successfully created my first hat! Pom pom and all. Thanks to a guru of a knitting friend and few lessons from her, I'm well on my way to making all the Christmas gifts I can in the next three weeks. The Goodnight, Day pattern book has been my go-to and I'm super excited with how this toque turned out. I've never been able to find a hat that fits my abundance of thick hair, but this is it! The perfect hat, and I made it, which is the cherry on top. I'm now taking on a cowl in the same colors and realized that even my seacho bag and Fieldguided tote (plus my current manicure!) all fit within the same color scheme. Winter vibes forever.
And more importantly, HAIM has been on current & endless rotation because who doesn't love a sister girl group that sounds like Michael Jackson and Stevie Nicks cast a spell together.
