Sudan Policy - Promise of a New Frontier or Empty Rhetoric?

This morning, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, UN Ambassador Susan Rice and President Obama's Special Envoy released their plan for Sudan. Watch Genocide Intervention Network (GI-NET) Executive Director Sam Bell discuss the policy and then call 1-800-GENOCIDE to urge the President to implement the strategy.

Your voice is needed to help bring peace to Sudan. Call 1-800-GENOCIDE today. Tell President Obama the people of Sudan can't afford a strategy that puts incentives ahead of real changes on the ground.

Join the Sudan Policy Activist Call

You're invited to join us on Tuesday, October 20th at 1 p.m. (EST) for an activist conference call hosted by GI-NET, ENOUGH, and Save Darfur Coalition to discuss the Administration's Sudan policy and next steps for activists.

To join tomorrow's call, dial (877) 254-9825 and tell the operator you'd like to join the Sudan Policy Activist Call. We recommend that you call-in a few minutes early.

GI-NET Executive Director Sam Bell will be speaking, along with ENOUGH Project Co-founder John Prendergast and Save Darfur Coalition President Jerry Fowler.

For press inquiries, contact Mame Annan-Brown at (202) 481-8220.

Tell President Obama: Don't Leave the Sudan Policy to Gration

On September 29th, the Washington Post published a story about the deeply troubling strategy being pursued by President Obama's Special Envoy for Sudan, Scott Gration.Gration explained his efforts this way: "We've got to think about giving out cookies. Kids, countries, they react to gold stars, smiley faces, handshakes, agreements, talk." Counting on "smiley faces" and handshakes while many experts predict a bloodier crisis could have disastrous consequences for civilians in Sudan.Send President Obama a message this morning. Let him know you are troubled by Special Envoy Gration's comments and ask President Obama to get directly involved in U.S. policy towards Sudan.
