<p>Spent a weekend out in the counrty with sally, camped in a field, no wifi, no laptops, one gas stove.....it was a hella good time. <br />

Shot a few polaroids yesterday just messing about and will get them in the blog later.... This here is Reynolds flopping out in the long grass and getting a bit too much sun- she went loopy in the afternoon, think she had boiled her head a bit. She spilt every drink she poured, dropped an entire plate of food, and then won at some game I invented. Cold. <p>Had a quick shoot with elin this afternoon, in between working on some ad campaign for a great new fashion commission. This is just a work in progress kinda test for an editorial shoot I want to do. Paper dress found on internet and projected. Bit rushed so just threw whatever light at the wall that would stick ya know. But dont Elin still looking amazing y'all. But like I said just a test, no polished post work done- lot more to come now i think it kinda works. But need to drag the Sandham-King into the styling mix. <br />

<p>So lighting test was shot previous and then I kinda thought fuck lets keep that lamp in, looks kinda sweet. Fresh pack of B/W fuji film (hence those odd left hand side dots) and pressed the button. Result- killer Elin Holding Court. <br />

<p>After going stir crazy in the studio, I text Elin and asked her to come down and shoot some B/W polaroids with me... This is a digital test- with a real stripped down lighting. We didnt have any styling and Elin did her own hair and make-up. It was a good session- purely because she is such an ace model. But I am thinking this as much of a test sketch than a finished shoot maybe. Some harsh lighting, on a black sofa....<br />

Then just 5 minutes ago Louie Banks sent me a series with elin that 100% stamps all over this with some thuggish DM's. He'll post one soon I am sure. Elin rocks. Being in a studio today- when its a heatwave outside sucks- but am on studio hire babysitting duty. Pah!! Polaroid here<br />

<p>As you can tell my first real experience of photography was in those slightly cheesy but absorbing books that used to appear in WHSmiths, packed full of starburst filters and soft lens.Its when photography kinda felt illicit and mysterious to me. Emma and I wanted to do something very different from what we normally do on this shoot- you will be able to see the rest in GangUp magazine when it surfaces in the summer.<br />
<br />
Ambient light and a bounce/gelled strobe. Focussing through tights is a fucker- especially when you have gaffer taped the lens. Shot on a the might James Kendalls 6x6 Bronica, on some 2yr expired fuji400H 120 film, this is handheld at 1/15s with some white tights over the lens to give that distinctive feel.<br />
<br />
Oh and flickr has done something hideous to the colours on this... its not really jaundiced. <br />

<p>This choice of shot may surprise a few people, but its a favourite of the films I've got back so far.<br />
<br />
So I have shot The Great Escape for several years now- and always have a killer weekend by the end of it. The Maccabees at Club NME- Corn Exchange were one of the highlights for me- they have really seemed to grown together as a band- have full command of the stage and know how good they can be onstage- like all great bands should.<br />
<br />
I shot the whole 3 days on a handful of film- Neopan 400 rated at 1000iso. Just a little interesting project to keep the <a href="http://www.garage-studios.co.uk">Garage Studios</a> portfolio looking fresh- at the same time Studio Manager Adam was out shooting super heroes- no rest for us kids...<br />
<br />
I got all despairing about the lack of soul and the 'shooting for stock' that seems to be the norm now, and jacked the digital set-up after the first band and went back to the studio to pick up my brick of a t-90 and a 50mm lens, no flash. It was a fun and hit/miss experience but I wanted to see if i can get back to that old flavour of gig photography that I first fell in love with- not the kind that is the equivalent of recording a gig on a still digital camera cramming 200 shots into the first 3 songs and then editing to find the cleanest shot of the lot. It just aint the same- though I completlely understand how its the only way to survive with no-one paying- even the pr companies seemed to have jacked in their budgets?<br />

<p>From the fashion editorial shoot in Newhaven last week. We did the almost final edit last night (myself and emma) and just need to run it past <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/30831455@N02/">Tash</a> as well- but you'll be shocked to know that this image didnt even make it in. Thats how freakin hot this shoot is, cos this has hit the cutting room floor, trashed, binned, out. Uploaded for <br />

This is two of the most stunning girls I have shot, and together they are pure gold, Sally left and Elin right.<br />

For the <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/louiebanks//">Banks</a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/samhiscox/">Hiscox</a> /DarkDaze project. To tell you a bit more, I asked 2 super talented photographers to come on board and work on this new project- we have also all teamed up with Sally Reynolds, Stevi Jelbart and Emma Sandham-King. Its an attempt to really push ourselves into new areas, team up, swap around, trade models and hit you all with some heavy heavy shoots. Plus it will all culminate in something that you can hold in your hands and learn to love... I am so excited by this. <br />
<br />
The best thing about this shoot was working with my all girl team on every aspect, styling, poses, make-up it was a complete team effort, and even though the building we were shooting in was being knocked down as we stood there- hence the title- it was the most laid back and successful shoot i have done so far. this project has legs...<br />
<br />
we will be using a lot of Brighton talent- models we know and shoot a lot, but in very different ways. Louie Banks has some insanely good shoot in the bag already, when him and stevi just smashed everyones expectations, and I met up with Emma yesterday and we worked on our next ideas. We will get a blog going really soon so you can keep up with what we are all doing- and we can post some more outtakes etc, just waiting on Sam and Sally to get that going.... <br />

<p>sally handed in her dissertation yesterday, a day early cos she's like that, if anyone embraced both Beauty and the Geek its Ms.Reynolds here. <br />

I know it being friday and sunny that no-one is gonna even see this, but gotta big up the girl for the crazy effort she put into the work she done did. <br />
<br />
I have spent 3 years or more with this lady now, and every day i switch between thinking she is the funniest person I have ever met and wanting to stab her in the face and burn her body in the woods. Actually that sounds like too much effort I'd probably just push her off the balcony. (well apart from the fact that she'd snap my neck without a moments hesitation and probably without havin to even put down her knitting). Shes out now getting drunk as all good students should and will probably come home all rowdy and kick some doors in or smother the cat in one of her special hugs. Thats the thing with Sally, you never know quite what will happen next. She is amazing tho, dont forget that... and clever too... and in a few months she may even be after your job....<br />

This was the other night with the finest bunch of models that we could haul in off the streets of Brighton. <br />
<br />
Some peeps asked for a polaroid, so they get just one. The others are for something exciting way down the line. I dont wanna give too much away but it involves the brilliant Mr Louie Banks, the adroit heavyweight hitter Mr Sam Hiscox and the talents of 3 very amazing ladies- of which more later. This is something you surely arent ready for- longterm plans to keep the mind active and the ol trigger finger button ready.<br />
