ok, granted… this is not the freshest release considering it’s from late 2008, but still this is my personal -killer tune ‘09- no further discussion!

Available for over a year now on vinyl (bundled with Billian – Illusion on the flip) and as a digital release I really wonder why I didn’t came across this tune earlier nor remembering having heard it in the clubs (and there’s imho no way to forget this SMASHER tune). I recently played it as opener for my latest set right after Micha from BSE and the crowd went totally crazy. Big big tune! reminds me a wee bit of the sound of Spor, Paperclip and the likes… these are the tunes that keep me doing what I do, having fun beeing a DJ. Did I mention that I totally dig the stuff comming from russia I SO ABSOLUTELY DO!

great bob… what a bomb! the first tune on the EP called Inverecundum von Aenimal almost blew me away… fast paced techstep hammer …and by listening to it you can almost see the crowd going insane while getting mashed by the beats. this tune at least is a must have.

probably the most interresting tune coming with this EP is Rico & Scoop’s Twisted Sound… this tune indeed is twisted, slightly ravey with some nice pad arrangement and pretty much movement inside. The other tunes fit pretty well in this collection but those two mentioned are defo my favorites here.

As usual, I only review some few tunes here which I really like and think are definitely worth mentioning, so you’ll find no bad reviews here… and here we go:

Yet another smasher from Trio-Music (T-Files here, another digital sublabel)… when listening into Kaiza’s latest release Fuck The Speakers, it initially reminds me slightly of Printer Jam but that’s just for a few seconds…

fat growling and nicely woven basslines supported by an itchy hookline make this baby roll like hell.

…another banging technoid tool, with an aggressive midrange riff as the main lead element over pounding beats and a punishing, relentless bassline

agreed! plus it’s really catchy and should work on the floor pretty perfect… I’ll test it asap!

In september we did a short summer break as usual ‘cos were attending Sun & Bass festival on Sardina. But in october  we power up  again and rock you like you’re used to.

At oct. 09th ‘09 we, the NUforms/High Duty crew, do celebrate our 3 years anniversary with no one less than  teh uberproducer himself  DOM & ROLAND, who will introduce his new album »No Strings Attached«.

Without doubt one of the most original and creative forces behind drum and bass, Dom & Roland really needs no introduction. Whether as a producer in his own right or as an engineer for somebody else, Dominic Angas has always sought to push himself to create music that stands apart with a unique quality of it’s own.
As a DJ, Dom shares the same philosophy with his production and his sets contain some of the toughest, freshest dancefloor drum and bass around. He continues to travel the world, following up the success of last year’s ‘Through the Looking Glass’ LP tour. In 2009, fans can look forward to a whole host of upcoming collaborations with the likes Amon Tobin, Gridlok and Rob Playford.

Extended biography:

Music came naturally to Dom who learnt to play both the piano and trombone to a high level from an early age, raised by parents who were opera singers. When exposed to the early rave scene, he was soon inspired to set about making music of his own. Determined to make his mark and develop a unique sound, he chose the Roland S760 sampler as the core of his studio over the more-popular Akai series machines. It’s this piece of equipment that inspired Dom’s unusual moniker and symbolizes how, throughout his long and successful career, he has always maintained a conscious effort to sound apart from the rest.
His first releases came in 1994 on Saigon, a new label set-up by his friend Nico Sykes, and became synonymous with the dark and industrial sound of techstep drum and bass. The quality of Dom’s productions placed his engineering skills in high demand and, in a bold move, he convinced his bank manager to sign off a loan that would fund the studio gear he needed to push his sound even further. In 1996 he began a relationship with Moving Shadow that spawned numerous massive singles and three long players. A milestone of his success was that he was chosen, alongside Rob Playford and Goldie, to write a track for the labels 100th release (‘Distorted Dreams’). In these early evolutionary years Dom also had high profile releases on Doc Scott’s 31 Records imprint and Grooverider’s label, Prototype.
Having built up his own studio and honed his skills, Dom mixed and produced several tracks for other artists that went onto gain legendary status, including ‘Mutant Revisited’ and ‘Sonar’ with Trace and ‘Subway’ and ‘Skylab’ with Ed Rush. In the process of these collaborations, Dom created the infamous ‘Tramen’ break, a breakbeat that has become a drum and bass staple and has been sampled by many other artists since. Dom’s role as a producer extended beyond that of just a studio engineer and, having worked with Optical’s brother Matrix, introduced him to Ed Rush and helped bring about a partnership that would spawn Virus Recordings and define the neurofunk sound.
Dom’s first album, ‘Industry’ was released in 1998 on Moving Shadow to unanimous public and critical acclaim. Drawing on his wide background of musical influences, the album presented the listener with a variety of textures and styles fused together with his unique style of hard, dark sounds. Dom kept up the pressure with a string of superb releases including ‘Parasite’ (SH131), ‘Killa Bullet’ (SH135) and a reworking of ‘Kaotic Kemistry’ under the guise Known Unknown. His subsequent release, ‘Can’t Punish Me’, continued the trend and caused major disruption on dancefloors all over the UK. It was the inclusion of a Dom & Roland remix of ‘Terrorist’, however, on the Killa Bites EP that really blew the public away, proving to be so popular that it sold out in one day. As a result of this popularity, he was also commissioned to write exclusive material for the Playstation 2 game, ‘Midnight Club’, whilst working on his second album, ‘Back for the Future’ in 2002.
His third album ‘Chronology’ surfaced in 2004 and saw Dom tour extensively in the USA, Europe, Asia and Australia and New Zealand throughout the year to promote the release. With an appearance as guest remixer on Calyx’s album ‘No Turning Back’ the following year, Dom’s long relationship with Moving Shadow came to a close. He turned his focus towards his own label and established ‘Dom & Roland Productions’ as an outlet not only for his own music, but that of artists he respects and admires. In Dom’s own words: “I want DRP to put out tunes you remember and still wanna play out 5 years down the line, I don’t like McDonald’s Happy Meal music.”
2008 saw the release of the ‘Through the Looking Glass’ LP on DRP, across 6 parts on vinyl and CD and arguably amongst Dom’s best work to date. Taking on a range of styles and giving each his signature attention to detail, the album makes for a truly widescreen experience whether listening at home or live at a club. His first release for 2009 is ‘Catscan’ plus ‘Funk Hunt,’ a collaborative effort with Gridlok, with both sides receiving support from Ed Rush, Hive, Dieselboy ,Hype and Bailey among others.
After hitting a rich vein of form in the studio recently, Dom has been testing several new tracks in his DJ sets with a view to releasing a new album later in the year. He’s also been linking up with old and new collaborators alike, including Amon Tobin , Rob Playford, Audio and Hive to name a few. Expect to hear these tracks alongside other forthcoming material from Dom at live gigs as he continues to take clubs apart with his truly original and dynamic sound.

First of I guess I’m not alone when I state that more and more very talented dnb producers do originate in russia, mostly the more technoid cracks. I for one dig the russian style big time! but enough of my blurb, lets see what we do have here:

The latest release of Walder on T3K (the digital-only sublabel from Trio Music) named Radiance draw my attention imediately… badass tune, not too heavy but quite a good dash of tech-style.

…And this tune proves his position. “Radiance” is a reduced neuro-tech excitement showing a different path to go…

The latest relase from Current Value hit stores a few days ago so here we go: Overclock really kicked my butt big time, a perfect tune to mash up or double drop with some minimalistic tec-style tune. The Therapist on the other hand is sort of to itchy acounting my preferences, so this time again the flip wins in my eyes.
But if you get the digital release, you have the choice… but however, you shouldn’t be too far away from the next therapist anyway after listening to these sick tunes for a while…

this video actually never really was a dubstep dance tutorial but a rave/techno/trance dance showoff movie done by some Swedish guys… and the original video indeed has been recorded like a wee bit faster  

…however, another dude took this mentioned video from this Swedish dudes, slowed it down, gave it a new name, and pulled The Drop from Unitz over it.

Ingenious work, I really had a BIG laugh watching this guy doing the ‘Milk the Cow / Milk the Bull‘ or ‘Lost in the Woods (with bewildered stare)‘ accompanied by The Drop… I watched it several times and the tune stayed sooo in my head.

Future Shock is the one track I really love on this EP. Rolling dark neuro techy thunder at the best.
Title track Simple Access is also burning red hot, but not my favorite one on this release, though. … the other tunes are not really my cup of tea, but that’s what I encounter with most EP’s. Fair enough you can choose which tunes to buy with the digital release.
