The concept may seem crazy, but it is way cooler than lamelessly clicking buttons with your index finger.

If ever you accidentally got the urge to click your mouse button, you would be interrupted and be warned with the rules. Nope, it wouldn’t electrocute you or anything. Just try to get through the whole page without clicking.

Hey, who knows, maybe sooner or later we will end up with the world similar to what Alex has visualized. One thing is for sure, it would be a world with less clicking and plain round mouse units under our palms.

Coca-Cola Corporation is said to be working on a new kind of bottle which is designed to maintain the temperature of the beverage inside of it after the bottle is opened. This ’self-cooling’ bottle is said to keep the drink inside cold for a longer time compared to the ordinary bottles that are being used today.

Nobody knows yet how Coca-Cola is going to pull this off, nor does anyone have an idea if this new feature would somehow increase the price of the products, although we do know that along with the development of the new bottles is the creation of a special type of dispenser for these new generation bottles.

The said technology is still in its experimental stages and is rumored to be tested on a new line of Sprite beverage aptly called ‘Sprite Super Chilled’ early next year. If things go well for their new unique idea, expect other Coca-Cola drinks to follow suit.

As much as people crave more compact and mobile designs, they also want their screens to be bigger in dimension, a dilemma that many mobile phone designers struggled with over the years.

Then came the Brix Mobile Phone.

Brix is a modular mobile phone designed by Seokwon Hong, with a screen spanning the whole width and length of the front-face panel of the unit. It makes use of a touch screen technology for input and has a design that rivals the sleekness and simplicity of the IPhone.

But it isn’t the full-screen feature that makes the Brix Mobile Phone revolutionary. For if you would take another Brix unit and connect them to another one, they would form a much bigger output screen.

Get enough Brix Mobile Phone Units and you could connect them to make a big screen TV, great for those late night cravings for movie viewing or for last-minute presentations. Once connected, the handsets can communicate to one another and share files like movies, pictures, and other multimedia files.

The concept of connecting a number of units to create a big screen is a very unique concept. However, there really isn’t much application for its feature aside from having a big screen for viewing. Still, if the people behind the Brix concept could use this technology for other things, possibilities would be endless.

Ooo… What’s that he’s typing on? Is that what I think it is?

After being first featured on Slashdot last July of 2005, the tech-savvy masses had been eagerly waiting for the coming of the Optimus Maximus Keyboards. After 2 years of waiting, the first Optimus Keyboard is already out of the production lines and is now ready to be shipped to those who pre-ordered the said product.

An Optimus Maximus Keyboard is an ingeniously designed keyboard by the people over at ArtLebedev Studios. The main feature of the Optimus Keyboard is its OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) display on the face of the keys which changes dynamically depending on a pre-defined keyboard layout or to show the function of the keys.

For instance, when you press the shift key on the Optimus Maximus, the letters on the whole keyboard will turn to all-caps. Also, if you would turn on the Num Lock feature on your keyboard, the numbers on the numerical keypad would change to directional keys. Cool, isn’t it?

But, it does not end there. For it can also display specific images and videos on your keyboard. If you were to use Photoshop, the images on the keys would change to the hotkey tools like the paintbrush and paintbucket tools. The keyboard is also ideal for games, you wouldn’t need to remember where the crouch button is because there is already an image on your keyboard indicating where it is!

The layout of the keys is fully customizable and can be changed according to the preferences of the user. You could place the shortcuts to your favorite programs on the quick access keys on left part of the keyboard.

There are other features like, additional USB hubs on the chassis , an ambient light sensor to control the brightness output of the OLEDs depending on the surroundings, and an SD Card for quick changing of images. Check out the other details on their website.

In spite of all of this, I never did hesitate in accepting the job as a co-blogger for DarnSlick.com. Why? Let us just say that I strongly believe that Andrew (The original author of this blog) and I would make a great team, two darn guys with entirely different personalities that, with luck and utter slickness, could break the monotony of technology blogging.

Who am I exactly? I go by the name of Juan Karlo Licudine, Karlo for short. Some of you may know me as the blogger behind the Pinoy-blogosphere-centric blog, PinoyBlogero.com. I am a person who loves to talk about tech stuffs and a lot of geekiness. I’ve always updated myself to the latest gadgets and Video Games on the market. And yes, I am also one of those who stood awe-struck with the sexiness and sleekness of the new I-Phone, what geek wouldn’t?

During my recent trip to Manila, I decided to reward myself with a hip black Crumpler laptop bag (AUS$140). I realized that my old laptop bag was getting too crowded. Besides my laptop, I carry my Google notebook and a Moleskine that I haven’t used yet. I also bring a bunch of printouts that I need for work, two pens, a USB drive and some extra cash. If you’re one of those people, you’ve already (albeit secretly) lost your parking stub (or check/slip/ticket) more than once. And it doesn’t come cheap. To top it off, you’re treated like a thief driving off with someone else’s car (unless you really are stealing it).

If you’re guilty of this sin, here are ways to prevent this from happening again.

Ok, the first thing you have to do is organize the stuff that you’re putting into your pockets. If you’re a guy, the 3 most essential items that you take with you are your cellphone, car keys and wallet. If you don’t drive, then just your cellphone and wallet. Some guys also like bringing handerchiefs, which to me, is one of the main reasons why I’m writing this article.

I usually place my wallet in my left front pocket (here’s why) and my cellphone in my right front pocket. My car keys can go into either pocket. For the parking stub, there should be at least one dedicated pocket for it.

Some safe places for it can be:

Your shirt’s breast pocket.

One of your jeans’ back pockets.

One of your cargo shorts/pants numerous chambers.

The stub must not share a pocket with another item, especially handkerchiefs. I say this because parking stubs tend to cling to handkerchiefs (caused by static, moisture and other substances). So when you pull out your hankie, there’s a 75% chance that the ticket will fall out without you knowing. Receipts make it confusing to find the stub when you’re about to surrender it. The tendency is while rummaging the stub may fall into one of the crevices around your seat. If that happens, then consider it lost. Why not place it in your wallet? Not advisable either. Don’t put the stub anywhere that has removable items. There’s always the risk of dropping the stub from the wallet while you’re removing cash.

A few months ago I did lose my first parking stub. It was in my gym bag. I guess I lost it as I was fixing my things and getting ready to leave. But I’m glad to say that I’ve never lost one since. And hopefully this post helps you not lose one too.

Many of us PC users have hardly held a writing pen since graduating from college. Aside from signing checks, credit card slips and filling out forms, that’s probably the only good reasons why I would use a pen. A few days ago I began scribbling some notes on my Searching For Inspiration Notepad from Google (thanks Aileen!) By golly did my penmanship suck! It was an eye-opener. In college I was proud of my nice handwriting. I’m kind of a creative person, so it was easy for me to copy my female friends’ style of writing. Now after spending close to a decade sitting in front of a computer, I’ve lost it! I now write like a doctor! (Check your latest prescription, you’ll know what I mean)

Anyway, as I was searching for something to blog about here, I thought of featuring a notebook. No wait what? Yes, a notebook!

For the past year I’ve been reading in blogging circles about Moleskine. Moleskine (mo-le-skeena) is a brand of notebook manufactured by Milan, Italy company Modo e Modo. Last year, a French investment firm bought the company for 60 million euros. Moleskine is said to have been used by artistic and literary legends such as Vincent Van Gogh (whose moleskine is shown above), Pablo Picasso, Ernest Hemingway, Oscar Wilde and Bruce Chatwin. Bruce Chatwin wrote fondly of his notebooks and his descriptions are the basis of the trendy Moleskines we see today.

I don’t own a PDA and I don’t plan on buying one unless I really need it. While I do have my Google notebook, I think I’m going to purchase a Moleskine soon. I think it’s important for us to go back to the basics sometimes if it means letting go of our computers for a few moments. Yes, going manual can actually be cool.
