So I live in Delaware and won't ever consider myself from here but have to admit that I'm disappointed in the Christine O'Donnell primary win. The so-called Tea Party is so interested in the Founders but seem to lack the intelligence of the people that founded our great Nation. I'm patriotic and love my country and would like the Tea Party to party some place else. They get too much media coverage and it appears like they represent what our Nation was built on and stands for, they don't.

I'm REALLY tired of FoxViews. Today Cavuto had the RNC Chair on and asked if the RNC was busing people in to town halls to sabotage health care reform. Guess what, he said "no." Did you expect him to say yes Neil? I'm certain that the RNC isn't sending folks to town halls because they have the insurance lobby is doing it for them. They were pushing video from Specter's town hall today. People outraged at reform. Any chance they were pushing negative Specter sound bites when he was a Republican? Don't think so. I guess Roger and the cronies put out the kill the traitor message.

Please Don't Make My Doctor Canadian

Feeling like this is an episode of South Park? Wondering when Terrance and Phillip are gonna fart their way on screen? Me too. I’m tired of this socialized medicine crap. Tired of “a Doctor’s not choosing a patient’s course of treatment”. Tired of “we shouldn’t have to pay for people without coverage”. Tired of “they’ll be lines to see my Doctor”.

So, does anyone actually believe that Doctor’s are in control of patient treatment? Maybe the Doctor’s that design coverage models for insurance companies. Doctor’s aren’t driving patient treatment, they are maneuvering through the system and trying to avoid pitfalls that can and often do slow patient care. Doctor’s are currently awarded for the quantity of diagnostic tools ordered, the more you order, the more you’ll make. Is that really improving patient care, don’t think so. We need to focus on patient outcomes, the quality of the treatment. Doctor’s should be awarded for their successful treatment methods, not how many tests are ordered.

So, we aren’t paying for people without coverage now? Ever been to an ER, any idea how many patients they see without insurance annually? We do pay and pay significantly for the uninsured. Having a public option just shifts the payment structure and saves us money. The uninsured don’t have the benefits of preventative health care so when they need treatment it typically costs more. Allowing everyone to have access to a Doctor for preventative treatment and monitoring will lower costs overall.

So you don’t currently have lines to see your Doctor? Ever needed a referral for a Specialist? Anyone ever get a referral in less than 3-5 days? Introducing a public model is not going to slow your ability to quickly see your Doctor.

I’m tired of the nonsensical discussion, it’s driven by insurance companies that would suffer from a public option. We’re a free market economy and competition improves that market. Introducing a new player, even the Federal government, would shake things up. Doing so will help improve care and lower overall costs. Let’s get this done!

SOTU and Random Thoughts

So I sat down and watched our President deliver his final (yippee) State of the Union. Nice to see the our representatives holding to their party lines. I had the feeling Bush could have said "Hows about we gives $3 Million to all citizens" and the Democrats would have frowned. Our system is broken and I'm looking forward to a change. The Kennedy Family is heralding Obama as the second coming of JFK. That brings me some hope as I've studied JFK extensively and think we have been without true leadership since he was taken from us.

So my iPod has been playing lots of music from Glen Phillips and The Frames recently. I'm loving The Frames, check them out now. If you haven't seen the movie "Once" throw it in your Netflix queue, you won't regret checking it out.

I had a great conversation today at lunch with Doug. Thanks Doug, not sure if I said that before. Three more days until one of my closest friends transfers to another store and that's making me sad, I wonder if he knows how much he'll be missed.

The more I type, the worse I feel....time for bed.

My Love Affair With Google Reader

So I've recently spent a lot of time adding XML and RSS feeds to Google Reader which works in any modern browser (OmniWeb is my personal favorite). Having access to all the sites you check on a regular basis is awesome. Google has also optimized Reader for iPhone so you get all your feeds in a great iPhone format. If you're not currently using a feed reader, give Google's a chance. You won't regret doing so. Thanks for giving me quick and easy access to my Internet life Google!!

My poor little blog, I've neglected you (Reading Harry's blog got me inspired again). It's after 4:00 in the morning and I'm waiting patiently for the cleaning guys to finish cleaning our floors. Their cleaning supplies are KILLING my sinuses, even Advil Cold and Sinus tablets couldn't relieve my sinus pressure. Thankfully I have today off.

I'm looking forward to Tin Man and Heroes. Tin Man got blasted in the reviews but I thought part 1 was pretty cool. As for Heroes, it's the final episode of the chapter (Damn writers strike). Later in the day I'll pick up my Blu-ray copy of Pirates 3 and pop it into my PS3 (Keira Knightly on Blu-ray is pretty close to heaven).

Late Night...Again

So it's been a couple of days since my last rant/ramble. Here's more for you to chew on. I had a chance to play with iWork and iLife '08 today. I'm freaking amazed! Apple continues to blow me away. I don't understand how Apple developers can continue to out due themselves with each release. I have to admit that I was a little disappointed with iLife during and after the keynote. That all went away tonight when I got my hands on it. It's unbelievable, the tiny intricacies are revolutionary. Get to an Apple Store and check it out.

I found a nice clip of Kevin Smith on the web today. Kevin is verbally beating the snot out of a man from Comic-Con in the clip. Sometimes I think I'm pretty quick on my feet but I can't touch this guy, he's amazing!! Check the clip out here. He also blogged at length about his birthday last week.

Our annual beach trip to Ocean City, MD is coming this weekend. I'm not a fan of the beach but it's an opportunity to see Beth's close friend from Grad School who we love dearly. I'm looking forward to the trip but trying to figure out ways to remove sand from the equation. Any suggestions?? I can't stand sand.

Any Flash Gordon fans out there?? The Sci-Fi show starts on Friday night @ 9:00 p.m., set your TIVOs/DVRs.

I just picked up the new Bill Deasy CD from iTunes. It's called "The Miles." Bill's one of the best singer/songwriters on the planet. If that stuff tickles your fancy, check him out. He's also quite the accomplished author now, "Ransom Seaborn" has touched my soul in ways I never thought a book could. If you enjoy a book from time to time, put this on your list. You won't be sorry.

Mac Stuff

What a great Mac day. Who's in love with the new iMac?? ME! How freaking sweet is that. Today rocked even more with the updated .Mac and a the new iLife '08. The additions to iPhoto and the revamped version of iMovie are AMAZING! iWork '08 excited me most of all. Finally an updated spreadsheet application from Apple. I was a huge fan of the spreadsheet app in Appleworks but have hoped it's successor would make it's way to iWork and today it has. Numbers looks AWESOME!! It makes spreadsheets beautiful and EASY and it works and plays well with Excel. Finally the big green X can leave my dock. Steve brought some wonderful Mac-ness today, I'm so excited.

On a not so happy note, Jonathan's kitty died today. I'm sad for my friend. Losing a pet is really hard. Feel better Jonathan, we all love you!

There's a lot going on today. There's an Apple media event at 1:00 p.m. EDT, Rome Season 2 is out on DVD and FINALLY there's an amazing special edition version of the 80's cheesefest Flash Gordon coming to DVD. I love this flick. I've got the Queen soundtrack and secretly rock out to it all the time. Ask Beth, she loathes it....I can't wait for this DVD!! Who's gonna be the first to bust my balls?

Is it just me or is John From Cincinnati the most bizarre yet amazing show on TV? It's got me hooked. Next Sunday is the season finale and I can't freaking wait.

It was an interesting day at work...Doug blew off Jesus for potato salad. Justin D. still has no idea which purse his balls are kept in. Kessie loves to get up close and personal with creepy customers. Oh yeah, I almost forgot..."sir, it's one dead pixel, calm down."

And so it goes....

Well Beth returns soon and I'm really excited. I have a dentist appointment tomorrow, that takes the excitement down a notch. I hate the dentist, they always require appointments and never let me walk-in. HOW RUDE!

Here I be, blogging again. I'm enjoying it a lot. If you aren't you can blame Harry Keyser it's his fault. Today felt like a long day. That's probably because it all started with my favorite thing, shitty drivers. Why do people drive so poorly?? It makes no sense. I think everyone should attend the "Fred School of Driving." Things would be so much better that way although there would be a significant increase in noise pollution. Misa likesa to usesa my hornsa a lotsa. By the way, what was George Lucas smoking when he wrote Jar Jar's lines? How the hell do you get the idea to write shit like that??

Well the ramble ends now. I'm about 24 hours away from Beth's return. I miss her, I'm lonely and it's almost time for bed.

Clerks-fest

Here I go again...

So, after yesterday's Silent Bob Q&A I was so geeked for Clerks-fest. Beth is out of town and I'm lonely, so I invited my friends Jonathan and Kessie down to geek out to Tubby's flicks. Things started off poorly when Jonathan decided to blow me off. Kess finally gets here and we watch Clerks. What a great film! The 10th anniversary DVD is spectacular. We get to Clerks II and "Sir Sleeps A Lot" is comatose halfway through. She didn't even get to see Randall 'taking it back.'

Oh well, I enjoyed the rest of the film. Her punk ass is asleep.....she's no longer invited to movie night.

We should welcome Dearing to the iPhone club, he finally has one and picked a good case for it too.....

Getting in at 5:30 a.m. has me a bit tired. My bed is calling me....night all.

Silent Bob's Birthday

Long time, no blog....I'm gonna try to be better about that. Yesterday, Harry, Justin and I traveled to the lovely town of Red Bank, NJ to celebrate Kevin Smith's 37th (yup he's finally as old as the number of dicks) birthday. Kevin had a Q&A at the lovely but ancient Count Basie Theater (nothing like seeing debris nets hanging above you).

Kevin treated the 4000 or so fans to an awesome Q&A lasting nearly 7 hours. He talked at length about his plans for children's films, dog sex, J-Lo, his love of Bruce Willis and my personal favorite anal fissures. They were shooting the show for a DVD too.

If you're a fan of old Tubby, you have to see him in person some time, it was awesome. We had a great time. I can't wait for the DVD. I'm off, I'll blog again soon....Clerks-fest is starting soon.

It's been five years since the worst terrorist attack in U.S. history. Today I as I reflect back on that terrible day, my heart aches for those we lost and for the families that are trying to move on.

Michael Bay Is A Twit....

So I did my usual surfing today, went to Ain't It Cool News like I usually do and saw new pics of Optimus Prime from Bay's upcoming Transformers movie.

WHAT THE HELL. Michael Bay is BIG STUPID IDIOT. How difficult would it have been to translate this film the right way? Geeks like me have been wanting to see a big screen translation of this film for years.

But Michael Bay is gonna pull a Schumacher on us.....nipples on the robots, just wait. Hey, maybe Optimus will have a Optimal Prime credit card that he never leaves the "Ark" without...

Hopefully we'll get news soon that the "I See Dead People Kid" will be voicing Starscream.

Well at least we have Peter Cullen voicing Prime.....just watch this turd with your eyes closed.

More ranting later, I'm gonna go watch a GOOD Transformers film....the 1986 masterpiece "Transformers: The Movie."

Oh yeah, I HATE you Michael Bay.

Midterm Elections

So a couple of days ago President Bush was at a speaking engagement in the Midwest and he detailed a thwarted attempt to hijack a plane and fly it in to the building above in Los Angeles. First, I think that it’s great that our intelligence agencies are stopping terrorists and each and every person that keeps us safer deserves our thanks and utmost respect. My frustration stems from the President’s announcement, it seems a bit politically motivated. It’s midterm election time and a great opportunity to illustrate the strides HIS party has made to keep us safer.

It’s these aspects of politics that makes me NUTS. So are the members of the FBI, CIA, NSA and Homeland Security agencies/departments all Republicans? Did they decide that it would be a good time to protect us because a member of their party was President? No!

Don’t get me wrong, I’m THRILLED that we are stopping these monsters from hurting innocent human beings but when politicians use these successes to further their political agenda it really irks me. It’s nearly five years since 9/11 and the friends and families of those we lost aren’t looking for politicians to give each other “high fives.” They’re trying to get past the terrible loss of their loved ones, I hope politicians remember that when they want to politicize our successes.

Finally, One For The Thumb.....

Steelers nation celebrates today. We’ve finally joined the 49ers and HATED Cowboys in the “One For The Thumb” club. Let’s talk about the game, WOW, it was amazing and the Seahawks should be very proud, they had an amazing season. Look for them to be great in 2006.

Now to the gripes, stop the whining Mikey, Big Ben would have given it to the Bus on the next play and we would have scored anyway. Not greeting Cowher after the game is pretty crass. It’s OK to be upset, but, come on. You can yell at the Refs later, give the winning coach his due.

So how about the commercials....how were they? Good, bad?? Some of the Bud commercials were good. I loved the FedEx commercial, very funny. Jessica Simpson for Pizza Hut, nice, although I could watch her swat flies all day and not get too bored. I think I’m one of the 4 people on the planet that saw Dukes of Hazzard.

Well, that’s it for now.....

P.S. If the Pens can win a Stanley Cup in the next decade, life will be REALLY good. More to come on that in a future entry.

Just got done reading this article about the SubPar Bowl and now I'm slightly irritated. Who's this Skip guy? Steelers boring?? The nation not interested in the Super Bowl because underdog teams are playing? Is this guy serious?

On any given Sunday anyone can win, that's what makes the NFL so great. Can't say the same thing in the NBA, can you?

I think the fact that two underdogs are playing each other in the Super Bowl makes it a bit more exciting and I for one look forward to it. I'm bored of the powerhouse teams, NE you know who you are. It's refreshing to see the new kids get to "The Big Game."

Final thought, Skip says he misses T.O. already. Take a trip to Philly Skipper, see if the Philly fans are in agreement.

Here's to the underdog Bowl....and the Steelers big win.

Nothing, hmmm, Great way to start a blog huh? Let's see.....

The Super Bowl is on Sunday. That's exciting, wait, can I call it the Super Bowl? Some establishments have to say "The Big Game." Why is that? Kinda stupid, right? The NFL doesn't want people to know about the Super Bowl?

Anyway, I digress....So The Big....Super Bowl is on Sunday. I'm a Pittsburgh boy and I've been looking forward to "one for the thumb" for a while now. Sunday could be the day. I'm pretty excited so Steelers fans....."Here We Go."

Sunday also means new Super Bowl commercials, wait maybe I should save that for another entry.

More from my mind.....

This is stupid. Who really wants to know what's going on in my head?? Sometimes, I don't want to know what's going on in my head, why would you?

I guess my mind is empty....thinking is overrated.
