Trial Subscriptions: Naxos Music Library & Sheet Music

Looking for piano or guitar sheet music? Want to listen to music without buying the CD? Then, test drive the following research databases available via trial subscription until Wednesday, February 29, 2012. From off-campus you'll need to enter your TUID & password for access.

Naxos Music Library is an entertaining, educational resource where students will find not only music to listen to, but also composer biographies, glossary of musical terms, work analyses, CD liner notes, and many other useful text resources. Playlists can be created by students and instructors for private use or to facilitate in-classroom discussion. Multiple users can listen to the same tracks at the same time.

Naxos Music Library Sheet Music provides over 45,000 sheet music titles, powered by FreeHandMusic.com. Sheet music in all classical genres, spanning music from Medieval to the 21st century and composers from Bach to Arvo Part is available. You can download the music easily and print using convenient shopping cart systems.

Trial Subscription: LexiComp Online

LexiComp Online is an online research database that provides access to dentistry, nursing, and pharmacology reference books; performs a drug interaction analysis; identifies unknown medications; and has customizable "patient advisory leaflets" to help ensure positive treatment outcomes.

LexiComp Online contains clinical databases and modules to expedite your search and intuitive navigational tools to save you valuable time.

ebrary College Complete eBooks is a collection of 24,000 plus ebooks that support courses taught at community and career colleges! These books can be accessed 24/7 and viewed by multiple users simultaneously.

Open a title and explore the first few pages, then try ebrary technology such as InfoTools, highlighting, notes, and bookshelves.

eLibrary is a research database that can help you locate maps, pictures, and audio/video files. It also provides general reference material such as newspapers, magazines, books, websites, and transcripts.

Special Features

Nursing Resource Center

Nursing Resource Center brings together, in an easy-to-use interface, access to disease and drug overviews, care plans, relevant journal articles, animated anatomy and physiology diagrams, and a reference toolbox. Search results are returned in tabs that correspond to steps in the nursing process.

Due to MEL subscription changes, the LCC Library will no longer offer access to the CAMIO and Discovering Collection research databases as of October 1, 2011.

Wondering where your “Go to” Research Database went? General OneFile has a new face!

Wondering where your “Go to” Research Database went? General OneFile and the other Gale databases are still around, but have a new look!

You may be a little confused when looking for those familiar, color coded tabs that once appeared at the top of the screen. Instead of displaying the number of hits for each format (magazines, newspapers, and journals) at the top of the screen, turn your eyes to the left hand side to find the breakdown (Content Types) of your results. On this left side panel you will also find Related Subjects, Document Types, Publication Titles, and Publication Dates.

Other new features you may notice include predictive search when you type, and a list of Popular Articles and Popular Searches when you do a Basic Search. The titles along that familiar gold bar at the top of the screen have also changed. Browse Subjects has changed to Subject Guide Search, Browse Publications is now Publication Search and Search History is now called Previous Searches.

You will probably notice other new features as you play around in the database--just be assured that although the appearance has changed, the content and quality has not, and that if you need help, you can always Ask A Librarian! Happy Searching!
