With a quick dump of snow, but warm weather on the way we have put off making the tubing hill base until the weather gets a little colder.

Please note that all tubing hill traffic should arrive at the top of the hill and proceed through the gate to the parking lot.

The Dauphin Horsemanship Program is now offering horseback riding lessons in fall. Contact us for days that work for you.

Beginning Levels

Kiddie
• Starting right at the beginning for ages 5-7. them out to see what level they would fit into that would have them
comfortable but still challenging.
We are also introducing a new level system that has more levels to
achieve. Each level has smaller steps making them easier to pass which
helps build confidence in the kids.

Dedicated to Rider Education

We feel it is important for riders to learn book theory along with riding so they can learn how to be safe and understand horsemanship.

Experienced Instructors

The head wrangler is certified with the Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA).

Marathons are some of the toughest endeavors that any runner can undertake. The grueling miles can drag on causing one to lose focus, stop trying, or simply give up. The constant question of "Why am I doing this?" can rage through ones brain. If you set out with a goal in mind, sometimes you have to just focus on putting one foot in front of the other. That's all.

Our new building project remind me more of a marathon than any other project I have been a part of. Delays and slow moving have caused the miles to drag on. As miles are added to the project and new challenges lie ahead we have to stay focused on the end goal and the joy in completing this particular race.

This past week saw most of the roof constructed and 95% of the sheeting complete on the walls. There is still a long ways to go. Finances to raise, major equipment to hire, and a ton of material to be hauled up to the site.

It makes me think of Nehemiah as he worked towards the goal of rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem. The task ahead of him was great, but because God's blessing was on him, and he kept putting on foot in front of the other, the walls were built.

Thank you for your continued support and prayers as this project continues.

Come and join us today for our annual Winter Family Fun Day.Things kick off at 1pm and go until 5.

The big twist this year is that we have still not opened up our tubing hill, due to the combination of the lack of snow and the construction of our new kitchen/dining hall.

So what do we have planned?

This year our ski/snowshoe trails have enough snow and will be ready to go. We will also have the fire pit going with marshmallows and hot chocolate. Norman Long will be up with his horses doing wagon rides and we are opening our craft room for those who would like to create a craft or two.

There is also the possibility of new building tours, depending on what is going on construction wise at the time.

All in all we are going to have a ton of fun so please come and join us!

Over the last couple days we updated our website to reflect the 2012 schedules with new applications, registration forms, and prices.

With this change comes one major change, we have moved servers and .com will once again be our main domain. It's a long story, but in a nutshell we have been operating off the .net domain for the past couple years. Now the .net address will send you over to .com so please make sure that you update your bookmarks, etc.

So with the move we did some improvements, removed a ton of extra pages, condensed materials and had coffee...twice :).

We will be taking some time now to make sure that all the pages are right as we did drop a number of other systems that we felt were just dead weight. Please contact me with any questions you may have and start telling your friends. The summer is right around the corner, I'm breaking out the flip flops already!

A quick update

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from everyone at the Dauphin Bible Camp. I want to thank you for your prayer and support.
There have been so many people who have helped out over the last six months with everything from lending tractors (many times) to stuffing envelopes. We are very thankful for everyone.
Sitting here watching the snow fall, again, it is hard to remember everything that has taken place, but I will try not to leave anything out.

Thoughts from the summer.
This past summer we saw 703 campers attend our summer programs, which is awesome. We are so thankful for all the volunteers that made the summer so awesome for all these children.
We tried out some new camps this summer. The Kiddie camp, for ages 0-6 with their parents, and Golf Camp were a great success and we have begun working on expanding them this next year. Our Camp Diakonos (a discipleship program), although it is a great idea, did not take off. It is something that we want to keep on the back burner, but it is also a program that needs the input of participants from youth leaders to make it successful.
An item that we put a lot of time into this summer was starting to reconnect with past staff, campers and supporters. This is not an easy task at all. Step one in this process was to establish a base from which to launch and that base is our website. We added a social network and a better menu system so you can find the information you need quicker and we can respond more efficiently.

New Building Thoughts.
It was a very exciting day to see the cement pump truck drive up and a constant stream of cement trucks provide 122 yards of cement.
It has been interesting to watch the process of building the forms, forming the rebar and laying in the in-floor heating. The next step is to start building the walls and going up! We do not have a time frame yet on when that will begin.

Housing Project Update.
First I want to thank everyone who has been a part of the housing project. Although the project itself has officially only been four months the visioning started two years ago. We have had so many who have come out and helped with various parts from site preparation to installing the skirting.
It seems that any project that involves construction and trades has complications and we have seen our fair share. The original delivery date was delayed and when they did bring the home up we were forced to park it at the Dauphin Air Port for a month while we waited for the ground to freeze.
With the ground frozen the home was then moved onto the pad, but with all the snow it was became slightly more complicated.
We were able to get the Hydro put in and then the septic and well. As I write this we are waiting for the final water hook-up, but at least we have heat in right now and have been able to do some work inside.
This project has been completely paid for by your generosity and I know that this will be a great home for the camp and we are excited that we, the Bankert family, have the opportunity to live in it.
We will be planning a Drop in Coffee and Tea day where you can come, visit and see the home. I will let you know that date when we have everything hooked up.

Tubing Hill Improvements!

This fall has seen a lot of changes and additions to DBC. One of the main improvements has been to the tubing hill. We have opened up the bottom landing area so that it is safer to slide, we have also added a shed to the top of the hill that will be used to store the tubes and everything else that is required. Check out the pictures below and if you want to be a part of this project please contact the camp. We are looking for both volunteers to help with hill development and financial supporters to continue making the DBC tubing hill a great place for both the community of Dauphin and the province of Manitoba!

Dauphin Bible Camp – Building the Youth in our Communities

Who we are? Dauphin Bible Camp was established in 1947. The camp is part of the Canadian Sunday School Mission (CSSM), a nonprofit Christian, cross-denominational organization established in 1927. CSSM is national in scope with 43 camps throughout Canada.

Dauphin Bible Camp is located 15 km southeast of the city of Dauphin MB adjacent to the Riding Mountain National Park in western Manitoba. The campsite consists of 160 acres in a parkland setting of rolling hills and forest. Its main activity is the children’s summer camping program with the capacity to accommodate 800 campers (100 per week). Over the past 5 years the average attendance has been 662, which is 83% of capacity. Most of the 5 weeks of camps for ages 8-12 are full while the 3 weeks of specialty camps continue to grow. This year we had 703 campers during the summer.

Some of the summer camping activities we offer are horsemanship, archery, riflery, swimming, crafts, team sports, etc. It is currently developing a toboggan run, skating rink, and ski trails to encourage winter activities at the camp. With the completion of the kitchen/dinning hall complex, the camp will become a year round facility. During the off-season it will be available to accommodate ministry programs, church and youth groups as well as family retreats, etc.

The camp staff consists of a full time camp director and site manager, which are paid positions. During the summer there is approximately 140 volunteer staff that provides support from cooks, to councilor and cabin leaders etc. There are 50 staff require per week.

We need a new kitchen to better feed our campers and to offer our community more winter activities! In order to continue operation of this camp, it is essential to replace the kitchen, which has deteriorated to the point it no longer meets the required codes. The proposed replacement is a complex similar to the existing facility, consisting of a kitchen, dining hall, staff accommodations and washrooms. The project is being built in phases, the first is the construction of the exterior shell, which is under construction. The other phases will be the kitchen, dining hall and staff dormitory. We want to have this new kitchen available for the 2011 camping season and we need new kitchen equipment.

Why a Summer Camp? Summer camp is an awesome opportunity for our children to grow. Through summer camp children are able to Funding Budget The cost of this project is large, but through the generous donations of our supporters we have begun construction of phase 1, the building shell. It is our goal to finish the kitchen for next year. Approx. $450,000.00 has been raised so far and with donated labor and materials the cost of construction continues to decrease.

Construction Phases: 1: Exterior shell built weather tight 427,110.00 2: Infrastructure (water, sewer, site work, etc.) 181,213.00 3: Kitchen area, washrooms & entrance 282,825.00 4: Kitchen equipment & cupboards 169,947.00 5: Dinning hall 111,012.00 6: Staff dormitory 157,243.00

We are looking for $452,772.00 to make a new kitchen possible for the youth in our communities.

This new building will allow us to provide an improved area for meals for summer camps and a dormitory for support staff, as well as a place for year round ministry services to the Dauphin area. It will also increase the capacity of the camp by 23% from 100 to 130 campers. The location of the proposed building is in the central part of our camp, with improved access for delivery of supplies, and ample room for parking.

Dauphin Bible Camp is registered with Revenue Canada as a nonprofit organization. The camp is a member of CCI/Canada (the Christian Camp & Conference Association, the Manitoba Camping Association and the Dauphin Chamber of Commerce. For more information about Dauphin Bible Camp and CSSM Ministries please refer to our websites at www.dauphinbiblecamp.com, www.mb.cssm.ca and www.cssm.ca.
