You know you’d hit it if you had the chance…

Thanks to my inability to timely update my blog, I failed to make mention of two of the biggest days of the 2010 calendar year — July 22, 2010 and August 20, 2010. The first day was when Disney super cutie Selena Gomez graduated to the school of legal hottie and the second day was when the lovely Demi Lovato received her diploma. It’s substantial news because it means you’re no longer a sick & disgusting pervert for fantasizing about either one of them! Sure, you’re probably still a perv for other reasons, but not everyone can be perfect.

“Sleep is for the Weak” was always my motto back in my IGN.com days and that mantra has carried over to every job since. The peak was during my first few years at Visual Concepts during crunch times before shipping NFL 2K3, ESPN NFL Football and ESPN NFL 2K5, where it was commonplace for me to work in excess of 100 hours a week for a period of a few months. I even had two separate occasions where I was at the office working for four straight days without sleeping thanks to some performance enhancing drugs — such as ephedrine.

The 100-hour mark hadn’t been hit in a while, though, thanks to the California OT laws that got passed for my last couple of years at VC and the fact that I just hadn’t really needed to here at Quick Hit. Sure, there’ve been some busy weeks but most topped out at 60-80 hours and a lot of it was split up between at the office and at home so it didn’t sting as much. Last week, I topped the 100 hour mark for work for the first time in a couple of years and while I’m honestly as exhausted as a whore on payday, it sort of feels good. The Hell should be over soon and even though I’m already at 29 hours through Monday and Tuesday, I’ll hopefully be getting back to normal hours soon and won’t have to hit the 100 hour mark again this week.

In a sick and twisted sort of way, all the work, the crazy hours and the sleep deprivation makes me feel more alive than normal. Either that, or maybe it’s the fact that all the work has made it hard to get shitfaced drunk and I haven’t gotten plastered in 15 days and counting… It could be a combination of both.

Been beyond busy at work for the past couple of months, but it’s gotten to crunch status for the past week as I’ve been doing 14-hour days, 7 days a week for the past 10 days and have at least 6 more days of this. I hope to get back to some regular updating once we get the NFL product live…

I can’t get enough of Brooke Eden (aka Brooke Helvie). She’s making me like country music…or at the very least her.

It looks like I pretty much fell asleep at the wheel during the month of July. I blame it on the fact that I’ve been getting back into my partying ways and have been hitting up bars and the women inside them at least 2-3 nights each week for the past month. It’s a good thing because my game is starting to come back and I may finally be getting the proper motivation to start doing the gym and eating healthy plan again.

Regardless, I did some catching up this morning, as I recover from this morning’s hangover and soreness from 3 hours of dancing and getting grinded on by girls with their boyfriends watching. Here are the Babe’s of July:

Special props to a fellow member of the “Brotherhood of Dave” — Dave Hunt — for Tweeting me into putting up Anna “Anya” Chapman as my Babe of the Week. She’s an absolute perfect choice for this site despite the fact that she’s currently being held as an alleged Russian spy for Moscow.

I don’t know all the details and I honestly don’t give a damn either way. The girl is super cute and I’d gladly divulge to her any secrets about the goings on of my life any day. This whole story seems straight out of some 007 movie which has got me to thinking about what her Bond girl name would be. So far, my top picks are “Anya Face” or “Anya Cock”. Got anything better? Yeah, yeah, I know Selena Gomez is still only 17 years old and not-yet-legal. But the countdown to her 18th birthday is down to less than 30 days and I’m willing to bet that over the course of the next month a whole lot isn’t going to change with her physically unless she goes under the knife. So, as far as I’m concerned these bikini pictures are perfectly fine to ogle over no matter what your age is. Godspeed!

A lot of people seem to think that Team USA should be “proud” of its performance at the World Cup and that it was a success to make it out of the group stage and then lose out in the first round of the knockout stage to Ghana. I think that’s complete bull shit and is completely belittling to the team and the state of US soccer.

Having watched practically every game in this year’s Cup, I think it’s pretty safe to say that the US soccer team has a good deal of talent. The team SHOULD have easily made it out of the group stage and SHOULD have won this game against Ghana and the next against Uruguay. I still don’t think they’re on the level of the elite’s, such as Brazil, Argentina, Netherlands, Portugal, Germany or England, but the team clearly failed to make the impact on this tournament that it easily could have.

In the end, they were just done in by a bunch of failed and missed opportunities by both the players and the coaches. It’s sad because the quick loss likely diminishes the possible increase of followers of the sport in this country despite the fact that it’s starting to look like we’re beginning to legitimately catch up with the world’s elite.

Was going through a bunch of vids that were recorded last Fall and figured this one was worth posting. It’s of me, Amanda and Erin singing Wonderwall. Not sure how I ended up with my pants on the ground.

Very few people know this outside of my brother, but I went through a pretty hardcore country music phase a while back. I’m not sure if I ever really was into the music, but CMT got me off better than porn thanks to a couple of new female country artists at the time named Faith Hill and Shania Twain. Think the phase lasted something like 18 months.

It’s unlikely I’ll go through one again, but I am a fan of the beautiful Brooke Helvie who appeared on American Idol a few seasons ago. She seems to finally be getting back to her music now that she’s finished up with college — I will forgive her for being a Florida Gator just cause she’s bangin’ — and I’m glad that she is because I’m hoping for great things.

I’m about three years late on this, but must say that I completely agree with the Internet in the naming of Allison Stokke has the hottest female athlete on the planet. The girl, who happens to one of the finest examples of the female form alive, is currently a pole-vault extraordinaire for the University of California where I believe her personal best is in the area of 13′ 6″, although that could be out of date or just flat out wrong.

The exact height doesn’t matter as it’s clear she’s used to dealing with poles much larger than mine (I’m guessing much thinner, though). Being named my Babe of the Week is just the latest of many of her young life’s excellent accomplishments, so go ahead and give her some congrats in the form of an honorary jerk or ten.

I hate to sound like a bitter fan, but the NBA refs ruined the 2010 Finals. It was the absolute worst officiating I’ve seen from beginning to end of a championship series in any sport — and there were a plethora of bad calls against both LA and Boston. The big problem with it is that they not only called all the games super tight, they just constantly got calls wrong. The string of three replays that all over-turned calls made on the court showcased that the refs didn’t know what they were doing.

It’s the freaking Finals, the refs need to let the players play and not become the centerpiece of the game. If there’s any doubt, don’t blow your whistle. And if guys with the European soccer influence — such as Pao Gasol (Spain) or Kobe Bryant (most likely learned to flop during his time in Italy) — decide to fall down without even being touched or throw their shoulder into a defender who’s standing straight up, don’t buy their bull shit and don’t call a damn foul!

The worst part is that the first three quarters of Game 7 were called fairly loose. A friend at work even compared it to the way the game was called in the pre-Jordan era when they tended to let the players play more instead of calling a foul every time someone goes in for a lay-up. Then all changed the last quarter and the Lakers started to go to the line every single play, mostly on flops by Gasol or Bryant or drives by Kobe where he throw his shoulder into a defender’s chest and then pull back. They were bull shit calls that gave LA free points that they weren’t able to get normally against the C’s defense and it put guys in foul trouble, limited their face break points and just killed the game. In the end, they had a 37-17 advantage at the line.

It absolutely killed what was potentially an amazing NBA Finals despite the low scoring. But before anyone says anything, it wasn’t only the refs fault and the C’s absolutely sucked on the offensive end (they tend to always suck when they have to play the half court game, which they were forced into because of the foul shots) and still could’ve won the game if they’d just make some damn shots.

The best part of it all is that this was the last chance for this core of players and likely the last chance the C’s have as an organization for at least another three plus years. They don’t have cap space to sign enough guys to build around this core, KG doesn’t come off the books for two years, and they’re already over the cap by $10M with their top 6 players signed for next season.

Regardless, congrats to the Lakers and their fans. The team is a beast and could easily win another two to three more titles with this group of guys.

I’m not sure if I’m ready to give her Megan Fox’s crown of sexiest actress alive just yet, but Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is in fact replacing Miss Fox as the female lead in the next Transformers movie. And if that’s enough to send her on the path to stardom, she already has a pretty decent modeling resume that includes appearances in Victoria’s Secret and in numerous magazines where she does something that Megan has been too much of a heartless bitch to do — show us her fabulous tittays.

The latter is something that I’m definitely a fan of and as such, I consider it my civic duty to honor her as my Babe of the Week. It’s important to reward actresses, models and celebrities to do nice things like that so more in the future will keep doing it. I’m 100% certain that all of you reading are completely with me on this important agenda.

I think I might’ve found a new guilty pleasure in Pretty Little Liars as it stars at least three actresses that I’d love to bang the living shit out of. Sure, they play “high school girls” in the show, but as is the norm in Hollywood with these kinds of shows the actresses are all well into their 20s — I won’t hold that against them, however.

One of the lovely actresses that I want to bone is Ashley Benson who plays the character Hannah Marin in the show. The character she plays is one of those stuck up girls that you really wanna anally violate to put her in her place. I know that it’s just the role she plays, but it helps my perception enough of her that she’s a clear cut Babe of the Week.

I keep trying to write this while watching give up two quick crap goals against the Hawks in the Stanley Cup Finals. This series looks over and could be officially in the books before the NBA Finals with the C’s start, so I won’t really have the pleasure of watching two of my squads in the finals at the same time. When does the NFL season start? I’m ready for it already!

As for my Babe of the Week, I’ve decided to give it to a rare beauty that’s in her 30s — Elisabetta Canalis. She might be up there in age, but sure doesn’t look it. I can see why someone like George Clooney would spend his nights tapping the shit outta that ass instead of just nailing random ho’s (pretty sure he does that still, anyway).
