Here is a quick one from the city of San Francisco... The last time I was there shooting an engagement session
with a future bride and groom, we were suddenly overtaken by a freak rainstorm and found ourselves sprinting
8 blocks to the car! By the time we got to the car we were drenched! Luckily, this photograph was not made on
that day, but on a cold day in front of the Ferry building in San Francisco. Enjoy!

3 Trees { B/W Photography } | Santa Rosa, CA

In the future I'm going to be featuring black and white photographs that I've shot all over Santa Rosa,
Sonoma County, San Francisco, Marin... well just about anywhere and everywhere! It may be a personal
image like the above photograph, or it may be a photograph that I made while at a wedding or engagement
session. Sometimes I will feature 1 photograph or some times several. I do know this is going to be a lot of
fun though.

This photograph was made just this evening. I took the family out to go and look at Christmas lights in one of
the local neighborhoods of Santa Rosa. It was cold, but a lot of fun. I saw these three trees across the street from
the house that we were viewing and the light coming from the street lamp caught my eye. Anyway, I shot it in color
but in my mind I was thinking black and white photography the whole time. Hope you like it!

Ina and Jeff | Married!

Here are several of my favorites from Jeff and Ina's Wedding! They got married a few weeks back, but
I've been so busy, that I've not had a chance to post. I had Kristy, from Wreckless Photography along for the ride and we
had a blast spending the day with Jeff and Ina.

A good portion of Ina's family flew in from Germany to be at the wedding. Because they wanted to be able to spend a good amount of time with the family, they elected to do most of their photos after the reception. The reception was a ton of fun and peaked when the group of German's all disappeared at once only to return wearing white t-shirts with images of Germany ironed on. They also brought along several large umbrella's and a songbook from which they serenaded the bride and groom. At the end of the singing they decided to open up all the umbrella's. It was amazing and insane at the same time and I loved every moment of it.

Ellinor and Tim | Engaged!

Tim lives in Novato. Ellinor lives in Norway. Not one of the several cities in the U.S. called Norway. She lives in the country known for Fjord's and symbolist painter Edvard Munch. The real Norway.

Tim met Ellinor, when he was attending a friends wedding. Tim was sitting a row behind Ellinor waiting for some friends. When his friends showed up, they didn't have enough room for them all, so Tim moved up a row. He sat down right next to Ellinor. They talked and found that they had similar stories, Tim even jokingly asked Ellinor to marry him. One day later, Ellinor was on a plane back to Norway. Two weeks later, Tim had bought a plane ticket to Norway. He spent some time getting to know Ellinor and the country. He was smitten. A few months later they were engaged!

Ellinor was recently out visiting and planning their wedding which will take place in Novato in September! We shot these photos at the Novato Boys School.

I wanted to share a quick project I put together.

It is a collection of photos taken with my iPhone that I've put together into a brief ebook.
I realize this has probably been done before, most likely even done more completely and more professionally; however that is not the point. I just wanted to throw together some photos to share and also to get some more experience with Aperture's layout portion.

All photos were taken with the iPhone and edited "in camera"

Ina & Jeff | Engaged!

Jeff and Ina, who are living in Ohio right now, made their way out to California for a little wedding planning over spring break. For the past several weeks it has been pouring rain, but on the day we were supposed to shoot their engagement photos, it turned out to be one of the most amazing days we've had in a while.

Although they are both bound to end up in medicine, Jeff and Ina are opting to take their first year of marriage off from school and focus on each other! They were an absolute blessing to meet and I just cannot say enough about how awesome they are! I'm so excited to shoot their wedding this summer! Congrats guys!

Three is Never a Crowd!

This Christmas I was gifted to Jeremy and Beth! Although I did not come with a ribbon or a bow, I hear that I was still an exciting gift to unwrap! Matt and Jessica bought Matt's sister Beth, and her husband Jeremy, a portrait / maternity session. We got together the Saturday following Christmas and managed to shoot at a few different spots before the rain reached us. Jeremy and Beth, were a blast to shoot with and I enjoyed getting to know them as we captured these special photos. Their baby should be making his way into the world just about now... wait now... um... ok... how about now... hmm... still no luck... well Beth is due any moment. This will be there first and they are overjoyed to welcome their little boy into the world!

Girls Night Out | Behind The Scenes

Tonight, the girls headed out for a night of fun and fellowship over a friends house. This is not so much a post about what they did and how they got it done, but a post about what us guys did while we had some down time.

I started the evening alone patiently waiting for my personal delivery of Sprinkles Cupcakes straight from Palo Alto. Sprinkles, has become a major favorite that I could get at the drop of a hat back home in Orange County; however, the Bay area does not have that same high quality cupcake goodness that I long for. Sprinkles recently opened up a new location in Palo Alto and I had a dozen cupcakes delivered via friend taking a day trip.

The rest of the evening consisted of Max taking us on a personal tour of his YouTube favorites, videos that mostly featured gigantic animals, people injuring themselves in weird ways, and speed metal guitar solos. We also managed to consume several pots of coffee. If you have not had Sprinkles... try it... it will change your life. :)

We chopped it down on Moon Mountain!

We chopped down our Christmas tree! Not wanting to wait until the third week of December to get a tree, we headed out Saturday to Moon Mountain To find a tree to chop down. Elliott kept saying, "Let's get a HUGE ONE Dad!", and so we did.

Coffee Run | Brad

Today while out grabbing a coffee, my wife, Corynne, brought my camera over so we could do a quick family photo. I ended up keeping the camera with me and shot some photos of Brad while I was out grabbing another coffee later. Here are a few of my favorites. Enjoy!

I used a Canon 85mm 1.8 the entire time and then post processed using a mix of TRA and custom actions.

Hi friends,

I've been on a long sabbatical for the last few months. I actually haven't been, but it seems to be something official I can say in order to make it seem like it is ok that I have not posted in quite some time.

Nicole & Joe | Married!!!

This last Saturday marked the journey of a new life, a new change, and a new time of being together. Amongst friends and family from near and far, Nicole and Joe tied the knot! It was a beautiful day in Santa Rosa, and ended with an amazing reception at the Vineyard Creek Hyatt.
As an added bonus Kristy from Wreckless Photography, backed me up with her signature style.

Nicole and Joe are such kind, sincere and generous people, and I was honored to capture their big day. If you remember, they were so kind as to help me out with my Google Map Street View project a while back.

Before & After - Renovation

In the last couple months our church Refuge Christian Fellowship, aquired a building in the downtown area. It was a mess to say the least... It smelled of smoke and much of it was worn down and broken. So for the last month me and a small group of guys have been working to improve conditions in the building. Usually going in around 7 or 8ish and leaving well after midnight. The work has paid off and this last Sunday we had our first official service in the new building. Below are a few photos of our renovation process and a before and after. Even the before photo looks better than what we actually started with!

If you've not heard about Twitter, it's something you should look into. I've been asked, "what is twitter?" Most of the time, I simply answer, you've got to try it to find out!

I just read this article describing what Twitter is. It's a bizarre concept, but surprisingly the mainstream media is adopting it to get out news in a quicker fashion. After reading it, I've decided it can best be described as RSS for your life.

in flight entertainment system! You can do all of the normal media
stuff but you also get access to shopping and ordering food from your
