Vanessa & Paul : Wedding

I have known Vanessa for the better part of 12 years – went to high school with her and then later we both attended St. Francis Xavier University. Needless to say, when she asked if I was available to do her wedding I was absolutely floored and honoured. I just met Paul recently, but can already see that Vanessa and Paul are absolutely perfect for each other. I loved Vanessa’s dress and overall look on her wedding day – to me it screamed classic beauty and I think you’ll agree! Paul was a true gentleman and made us crack up the whole day which makes the photo sessions so much fun – aka – the best job in the world.

Billy & Melissa : Wedding

We had amazing weather for Billy and Melissa’s Glace Bay wedding. I really love shooting in my home town because weddings here are such a party and everything is very chilled and enjoyable. Billy and Melissa’s wedding was no exception. St. John’s church was filled with the most beautiful light ( I really love shooting ceremonies there) and Billy and Melissa had a heartfelt ceremony.

Most of the photography for the day was taken at Queen Elizabeth Park and Big Glace Bay Beach over in Donkin. We created some really striking shots for Billy and Melissa over at the beach. They took my suggestion to sneak away from the supper as soon as it was over to take advantage of the beautiful dropping sunlight which is the most flattering and enjoyable light to shoot in. Thanks so much for inviting us along on your wedding day, I hope you receive these images well!

I had a great time shooting with Vanessa in around Glace Bay and Dominion. We set out to shoot some model/fashion images and I think we succeeded. Vanessa is extremely beautiful so it made my job pretty easy. All I had to do was find some flattering light and we were good to go! There are many lighting styles here; backlight, sunflare, direct sunlight, you name it! I prefer shooting natural light 100% of the time over flash based lighting (off camera, strobes, direct) because its just more real, more flattering and just natural to the eye.

Melissa & Brian : Engagement

Melissa and Brian! Meet them and get to know them because you will be seeing alot more from their wedding later this summer! So many people want to do their wedding images at Wentworth Park in Sydney, and truth be told I really dislike shooting there; the gazebo and rock wall are used by so many weddings every Saturday that its become very overused. Nobody likes generic! I wanted to do some shooting around the park and basically deconstruct it – use places and areas around the park that aren’t utilized by other photographers. So instead of posing pretty by the rock wall, we did this instead!

Today my little boy turns 3 years old. Everyone chitchats about how ‘time goes by so fast’ but it really does. Watching him grow, both physically and socially; watching him develop into a sweet little boy is the most enjoyable experience in this life. Period.

What can I say about Ben’s character traits at this three year milestone? He’s very intelligent, talkative, sensitive (sometimes, right Josh?), handsome, humorous and cunning, all while missing a single front tooth.

Andrea Maternity

This blog post comes just in time because Andrea is days away from having this baby! Andrea and Craig invited me over to capture some fun images of Andrea’s baby bump. Ben, Joshua and Owen (all cousins) beat the summer heat with the pool and sprinkler and Andrea and I grabbed some shots with some gorgeous warm sunlight.

As of now, Andrea is scheduled to have baby numero deux on August 18th which is Benjamin’s birthday!
