Paper

I’ve been playing with the new Paper app over the last week and realize that it is hands down the best “sketching” app I’ve used yet. Previously I’ve tried Adobe Ideas and Sketch by 37 Signals, but they just don’t compare in my opinion. Paper can easily make my ugly notes and doodles into something legible and actually something aesthetically pleasing to look at. Strokes have a more natural feel to it where I don’t feel like I’m using MS Paint on my iPad. The app is free with one tool (Draw) and additional tools like Sketch, Outline, Write and Color can be purchased additionally. Highly recommended.

Objectified

So I’m a little late to this documentary, but I finally was able to sit down and watch Objectified the other day and I loved it. I’ve long been a fan of Gary Hustwit’s other film Helvetica, so it comes at no surprise. This film, however covers a more broad scope, including our relationship with everyday objects and the people who design, evaluate and invent them.

A Million Dots

This is just cool. The making of ‘Hero’, a drawing composed of over 3 million dots of artist Miguel Endara’s father using a single Sakura Pigma Micron pen. 4.25 dots per second and 210 hours later, we see the beautiful piece.

Essential Packing

I’ve had to travel a lot for work over the past few years, and always one of the important processes I go through before a flight is surveying and determining the absolute essentials to take with me. Laptop, check; camera, check; moleskin, check etc. Who wants to carry around heavy luggage anyway? I discovered I Am Packed, a showcase by other travelers finding the balance of necessities to take with them before embarking on their journey. Something quite fascinating seeing what others are taking with them.
