My Weekly Podcast: The ID Project

The first installment of my regular podcast highlights my initiative to expand my portfolios and see what price range was out there.

I find that folks who have asked for my designs have disposable income of less than what it takes to pay for a commercial grade logo. So my idea was to give up time on my spring break to see what would happen. I have a Facebook page: David Yoder Design that is hosting the event.

My podcast brings things full circle. I see successful art in the next few years benefitting from integrating social media, websites, blogs, and podcasts as a multi platform movement to reach larger audiences effectively.

The ID Project explores people creating a public identity through branding. Podcasting, social media, and blogging allow folks to create who they would like to be, even if in some ways, they might realistically fall short. I intend to further explore this notion as the project continues.

Gary Moreton Kicks for Cancer

For this event, the NCU official logo is pre-existing art that I included in my new design, I am very honored to design the first annual Gary Moreton Kicks for Kids event. Gary Moreton was an individual who worked very hard to promote the game of soccer for the small town of Mansfield. In April 2011, he lost his battle with cancer. I designed this with hexagons as a nod both to the game Gary loved, and as a nod to the ongoing battle in cancer research. Thrilled to present this event design to North Central United Soccer Club.

A local church worship band recently asked me to do a logo. I used the symbol of a flying bird to represent the Holy Spirit, and Saviour. I also tried to create an aesthetic that fit their genre of contemporary Christian/ Christian Rock. This version is in black and white. Their brand identity gives them a variety of coloring and embellishment options

The Office of Multicultural Affairs at Ohio State requested this logo for one of their programs. I used the arrow to indicate upward movement, and the color green to represent the newness, and energy of a new stage of life.
