The announcements from Samsung have been nearly non-stop this past week, with word from the company on everything from updated manufacturing capacity to the potential for Google Android to be seen on Samsung television sets.

The first big news from Samsung was in regards to their ongoing display manufacturing unit with the announcement that the company’s newest plant, to be brought online in July 2011, will increase production from 3 million to 30 million display units per month. The recent problems faced by Samsung in production have forced companies like HTC to look elsewhere for AMOLED and Super AMOLED displays. A press release this week has also outlined Samung’s venture into so-called moviNAND chips, embedded flash chips allowing for far higher processing power then previously experienced in mobile phones.

And finally, a report this morning from Bloomberg quotes Samsung’s head of television development, Yoon Boo Keun, as saying that his company is considering the use of the Google Android operating system in its next generation of consumer television sets. Given the huge rise in the purchase of web-enabled televisions over the next few years, the use of a web-based OS on your next TV holds great promise.

Apple’s original suit was filed in April 2010, outlining infringements on 20 separate patents held by the company. HTC attempted to have another court halt imports and sales of Apple mobile devices the following month, setting the stage for a showdown between two of the world’s largest mobile phone manufacturers.

Apple has yet to respond to HTC’s latest claim.
