Western Australia is also getting a lot of attention as foreign and local tourists explore this huge state, ten times the size of Texas. Holiday makers are discovering Western Australia’s fabulous beaches and they’re liking what they see. Perth’s high quality accommodation is providing some added incentive, with good rates and great locations.

The beach resorts are just as good. The Top 5 beach resorts are scattered along Western Australia’s long coastline, and include the famous Monkey Mia and other incredible beaches.

1. Aspen Parks Coogee Beach Holiday Park, Fremantle

Fremantle is Western Australia’s second city, and it’s a true Australian coastal city, with beautiful beaches and the warm Indian Ocean forming one of Western Australia’s playgrounds. The emphasis is on quality in Western Australia’s beach resorts, and Aspen Parks Coogee’s standard is “pristine beaches”, much appreciated by eastern visitors and locals alike. This is the Surfers Paradise of the West, and it includes all water sports, tennis, you name it, they’ve got it.

2. The Pearle of Cable Beach, Broome

If you’ve never ridden a camel on a beach before, Cable Beach, one of Australia’s emerging legendary tourist destinations, is the sort of place where you can do that. Cable Beach is huge, a white sand beach complete with whales in season. Broome, in northern Western Australia, is a fabulous place, originally famous for pearl diving and tales of the real outback. The Pearle does things well, and you can get 1,2 and 3 bedroom pavilions, as well as rooms.

3. Ningaloo Reef Resort

Western Australia has its own reefs, and Ningaloo near Learmonth on Western Australia’s central coast is one of the best. This place has not only the reef, but its own fabulous accommodation, right on the beach. If you’re looking for excitement and interest, there are giant basking sharks, huge sand dunes for dune buggy riding, yachting, dining with fresh local seafood, snorkeling, scuba diving and of course the fabulous beaches.

4. Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort

Monkey Mia is famous around the world for its friendly dolphins, so much so that the rest of the place barely gets a mention. Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort is located right on the beach, with pretty beachfront villas and a very well equipped resort attached. In Western Australia’s staggeringly beautiful wildflower season, the place is literally awash with colour. There are endless things to do in and out of the water. This place really does live up to its reputation. Monkey Mia is as popular with whales as it is with people. Killer whales, Right whales and others show up regularly.

5. McAlpine House, Broome

Another place which must be mentioned to do justice to the variety of accommodation in Western Australia’s beach resorts is McAlpine House. This is a boutique hotel, and it’s been crafted to look dazzling, with garden suites and courtyards. If you like a place designed to perfection, complete with all services and luxuries, McAlpine House will do it all.

From Perth hotels to Broome’s fabulous resorts, Western Australia has everything. Check out your options, you’ll definitely find something you like.

In the big Australian tourist industry, Queensland is always a front runner for resort quality and style. The quality is outstanding, and Queensland has the added advantage of the Queensland lifestyle. Accommodation in Queensland resorts is always at the very best standards, and always raved about by visitors.

Picking the Top 5 isn’t easy, but we’ve picked:

1. Cedar Creek Lodges, Gold Coast

This is 112 acres of pure top class accommodation. It has absolutely anything you need on site, a business centre, and the Gold Coast is just minutes away. Cedar Creek Lodges is set in the beautiful Gold Coast hinterland, with the authentic Queensland lifestyle literally built in. The mountains, creeks and bush form a landscape like heaven, and you can expect to have as much fun and as much peace and quiet as you like.

2. Executive Retreats, Cairns

Executive Retreats is really something else. Executive Retreats is a 5 star, portfolio of dazzling luxury accommodation choices. These huge, beautiful places are uncompromisingly placed top of the tough Queensland market. Executive Retreats is a quite unique phenomenon in its bracket, with architect designed style matching spacious interiors and stunning exteriors.

3. Viridian Noosa Residences

If you’re looking for something fabulous around Noosa, with great style and as much luxury as you can stand, Viridian Noosa is where you need to be. The word for Viridian’s fabulous freestanding villas is “impeccable”. They have absolute best quality Australian tropical architectural layout and these truly beautiful places come with ocean views, and with Noosa National Park as a backdrop! Forget Buckingham Palace, check out Viridian.

4. Quay West, Brisbane

Quay West is a 5 star apartment hotel, and the word for these apartments is “big”. If you like your 5 star accommodation to be in the upper echelons of this class, Quay West is the place to be. Quay West looks like it’s been sculpted, with every detail elegant. This place isn’t one of the Top 5 merely because it’s 5 star, it’s because it deserves to be 5 star. Brisbane has plenty of 5 star accommodation, but Quay West truly stands out.

5. Q Resorts Abbey Apartments

Last but definitely not least, Q Resorts Abbey Apartments is one of a chain of particularly well priced modern apartment hotels in Queensland. These are excellent 1 bedroom apartments, very stylish, and the Q Resorts Abbey Apartments deserve a special mention as a very good budget choice, particularly for those looking for quality as well as price. Right in the middle of Brisbane, these apartments have everything you could possibly need. The word is “convenient”, and at the price, “brilliant” is also a good description.

Queensland accommodation comes in all shapes and sizes, and these are only a small selection. The Gold coast hotels are always dazzling, but the rest of Queensland’s big industry is always hot on its heels. If you want the absolute best, you’ll definitely find it in Queensland.

Hobart is the capital city of Tasmania, a mix of colonial and modern styles unique in Australia, and is Australia’s southernmost major city. Tasmania packs a lot into itself, including ecotourism and wilderness adventures, as well as a fabulous and equally unique lifestyle of which the Apple Islanders are justly proud. Hobart is the place to base yourself to explore Tasmania, as well as a great place to visit in its own right. The accommodation is excellent, and the beauty of Hobart is an added lure.

The best hotels in Hobart are all well sited for both tourists and corporate business people alike. Hobart is smaller than the mainland cities, and you can get anywhere you need to be in the city from these hotels in just a few minutes. All of them also provide airport services.

The Top 5 are:

1. Hobart Midcity Hotel

Located right in the central business district, Hobart Midcity Hotel is a large modern hotel with a four star rating. This is the sort of high quality hotel it’s a relief to see when you arrive from the airport, comfortable, well serviced, and with a large range of room configurations to suit a family. It’s also close to Hobart’s near-legendary Salamanca Place, in the heart of the city.

2. Old Woolstore Apartment Hotel

The Old Woolstore, as the name suggests, is a big place. It has a range of apartments, as well as conventional hotel rooms, which makes it ideal for family holidays. These are large, comfortable studio, 1 and 2 bedroom modern apartments, and the location is perfect for any visitor to Hobart, right in the upmarket waterfront zone.

3. Salamanca Inn

The Salamanca Inn is located right on the waterfront, and has the famous Salamanca Markets right on the doorstep. It’s an apartment hotel, including 1 and two bedroom apartments, making it ideal for family holidays. It’s also a four star hotel, and some of the apartments have two bathrooms. If you want upmarket comfort and convenience, this is definitely a place you have to check out.

4. Leisure Inn- Woolmers Inn

The Leisure Inn chain is well known for quality. Woolmers Inn, located in Sandy Bay near the Hobart waterfront, offers two bedroom apartments for families, good quality accommodation and well priced, with excellent amenities. These self contained units are particularly convenient for extended stays, and the location is perfect for getting around Hobart easily.

5. Leisure Inn- Hobart Macquarie

The Hobart Macquarie, another Leisure Inn, is another well priced family hotel. This hotel is a big place, and has recently been fully refurbished, and is definitely an option for those who want quality. Services include an onsite restaurant, dry cleaning, tour bookings, and other useful services typical of the Leisure Inn chain, so you can be sure you really are on holiday.

Hobart hotels provide a lot of good value for clients, without the sort of costs you’d expect on the mainland. If you’re going to Tasmania, you’ve got a lot of good choices for family accommodation and no-worries services.

The Gold Coast became one of Australia’s favorite family holiday destinations for a good reason. It’s a fun place, exciting, geared to families, with good shopping and truly great accommodation. There’s nowhere quite like it on Earth.

The Top 5

1. Marina Quays International

As good deals go, this one takes some beating. You get a seemingly endless list of facilities in your room, and you’re right on the water. Swimming pools, spas, and a gym are also laid on.

Within 5km you’ve got:

The fantastic Gold Coast hinterland, real Australian bush, ferociously protected by the locals

Golf, including some major events annually

Fishing, a huge sport in Queensland

As much shopping as any city in Australia

National parks

Restaurants galore, including two in the building

2. Cedar Creek Lodges

Imagine 112 hectares of bush and rainforest, with a beautiful creek, riots of rainbow lorikeets, and a nice place to put your feet up and enjoy it all. It’s the sort of place most Australians can talk themselves into staying in for a few more decades quite easily.

Cedar Creek Lodges obviously decided to stick in as many amenities as they could find:

Golf

Mini golf

Bushwalking

Horse riding

Volleyball

Fishing

Mountain bike riding (with mountains)

Tennis

Spa

Jacuzzi

Business centre

Meeting rooms

Airport shuttle

Baby sitting

Laser skirmish

Thunderegg fossicking in a mine

3. Crowne Plaza Surfers Paradise

If you want water views, access to everything, and all services on your doorstep, this is the place you stay. It has 378 rooms, suites and studios.

There are too many amenities to list. You have:

The whole of the Gold Coast within an hour’s travel in any direction

A fantastic location with the sea as your setting

An easy stroll through everything which Surfers Paradise has to offer

In other words, everything, all in one place. It’ll take you about 2 seconds to figure out why this is one of Australia’s most popular hotels.

4. Radisson Resort Gold Coast

This is another high quality hotel where they’ve managed to add everything they could think of to fully landscaped, well laid out, joy of a place. It’s one of those hotels where you really know you’re on holiday in Queensland, which is the highest praise any hotel can get.

It includes:

Gym

Restaurant

Baby sitting

Airport service

Swimming pools

Golf

Weddings

Bathrooms with spas

Room service

Add to this the fact that the whole Gold Coast is no further than 5km away, and you’ll get the picture. It’s a great place.

5. Surfers Beachside Holiday Apartments

These are the true Surfers apartments, no-fuss, modern, and located for people who want to be able to get everywhere whenever they feel like it. You get all the luxuries without even needing to ask. All facilities, pools, kids amenities, are laid on. Like the other Top 5 Gold Coast hotels, they’re absolutely perfect for a no-worries holiday.

These properties are designed to give people a fantastic experience. This is the real upmarket Queensland style, and it’s brilliant. If only the best will do for you and the family, you’ve found it. The list of amenities would do credit to any 5 star hotel, and even by Cairns hotels standards these properties are something uniquely beautiful.

4. Il Palazzo Boutique Hotel

The very aptly named Il Palazzo is just that- a palace. It’s big, it’s beautiful, and it’s a 4 star hotel. It’s a heritage property, fully renovated, with space to grow a family on holiday. Boating, beaches, scuba, cycling, water skiing, a gym, night club, and children’s activities are all practically next door. Rainforests, mountains, bushwalking and the other pleasures of the Cairns countryside are all laid on, too, and Il Palazzo is right in the middle of them.

5. Koala Court Holiday Apartments

Koala Court is a fully modern, top of the range complex right in the middle of Cairns. These are big apartments, perfect for families, and it’s all right in the middle of the Cairns CBD. It has landscaped gardens, and everything you could possibly wish to have in the apartments. It’s a “Four and a half star” facility, and absolutely everything is laid on, including wireless internet and cable TV.

Cairns hotels include more than their fair share of Australia’s best designed hotels. They’re true gems, set in an environment which is one of Australia’s Top End’s true jewels. If you’re an Aussie, this is a place and a lifestyle you really will appreciate.

The Blue Mountains are among Australia’s greatest hidden treasures. This is an ancient land, and the Blue Mountains are part of the original Australia.

Melbourne is a wonderful city to visit at any time of the year. There are many fantastic Melbourne hotels to choose from when it comes to accommodating your family too. Melbourne is often tagged as the most European city in Australia and within minutes of strolling through the central business district you will understand why.

The early urban planners designed the city around a series of wide tree-lined boulevards reminiscent of some of the great European capitals and the transport system built around trams makes it easy to get anywhere fast. In fact, you can sense the pride of the city just by strolling around the streets and also get a sense of its rich history where the influx of money from the early discovery of gold is represented in the elaborate and beautiful architecture that is on display in many of the early buildings.

When planning a trip to Melbourne with your family, here are some hotels to investigate.

Travelodge Southbank Hotel. This hotel is well located at Southbank and provides great value accommodation for families. It has three star status and you can literally walk to the Melbourne Aquarium or the Royal Botanic Gardens. It is also close to the MCG and Rod Laver arena for sporting nuts.

Leo Pacific Hotel. If you are looking for family accommodation in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD, it is hard to go past this charming hotel. There are only 60 rooms at the recent renovations had made it into a quality boutique hotel that the family will love.

Easystay Apartments St Kilda. These serviced apartments are in fact a series of five different locations spread over three streets in St Kilda. You can walk across the road to the Ackland St cake shops or stroll down to the beach to cool off on a hot summer’s day. On Sundays, you can take the children for a walk to Luna Park and then on the way home stop off at the markets to pick up some bargains.

Kingsgate Hotel Melbourne. Despite being built in 1926 in the traditional European style, this family friendly hotel has won several awards in the budget accommodation category. Many backpackers choose to stay here too as it is perfectly located in the heart of Melbourne city. You simply cannot get a better location and value for money.

The Pensione Hotel Melbourne. This is another boutique hotel located in the heart of the CBD and is a great place to base yourself and your family so you can easily visit any Melbourne attraction. The building itself still maintains the original facade but it has undergone considerable renovation over the years and is now designed specifically to cater for the budget traveller.

These five Melbourne hotels will certainly whet your appetite when it comes to choosing your next family holiday in Melbourne. It just goes to show that you don’t need to spend huge sums of money on more traditional hotels when you can enjoy a holiday and comfortable surrounds and great locations.
