Firstly, I’ve now moved my blog from a .co.uk to a .com TLD, so I needed a htaccess mod to permanently move all requests from the old domain to the new domain. A two-liner from SEOblogr.com did it for me, and this is below

RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^(www\.)?old-domain\.co.uk
RewriteRule (.*) http://www.new-domain.com/$1 [R=301,L]

And the other part to my htaccess is the ability to remove query strings from the URL’s, and then again permanently redirect them to the blog post. A query string, by the way, is anything after the main request URI which isn’t already rewritten. ?query for example, and this code is here, taken from BrianCray.com

RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} !=""
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} !^p=.*
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/wp-admin.*
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /$1? [R=301,L]

And that’s basically it! Just put both these bits of code after the line

RewriteBase /

In your .htaccess file, and you’re good to go. I’m seeing good results already from this. /endgeek

I also thought it would be nice to try my hands on doing a short video of the meet as well, getting some faces on film and the general scene of the meet, as well as the cars that were there.

I’ve managed to make msyelf a fairly good camera slider now too, as per my other post, so pictures & more info of that will come soon. Anyway, without further-ado, here’s the 2 videos…

Albeit the above video was (as far as I’m aware) shot on a professional camera slider.

What I intend to do is make my own one. A DIY camera slider Why? Because camera sliders are damn expensive! I’ve drawn a little crappy diagram to help explain what I am hoping to achieve here. To be honest, looking at it on screen now I doubt anyone else will be able to understand what the hell this all means, but it makes sense to me. And don’t worry – you can be rest assured if this does work then pictures/videos to show how I’ve made it will be found on this blog-right-here!

Stay tuned for part 2 where I will hopefully build and create my own camera slider. Using mainly wood and collyflowers…!

Also found out on the 7d that when in video mode, anything other than M mode (full manual) you can’t adjust aperture. This greatly effects DoF, so this was all shot on full manual stopped all the way down to f1.8. Anyway, here’s the vid…

Cut it a bit short I guess, but any comments? I’d like to get some feedback on this, improvements / comments / things I need to not do, etc.

And yep, I know – I need a camera dolly/slider. Don’t worry, there will be another post later today/tomorrow regarding this. Should be a laugh

On Piston Heads at the moment for a snip at £2.5k. Really nice eh? Bit of southern styling forreal, and got some big Calif elements to it. We like this.

Right, as you may or may not know I own a uk-spec 200sx s13. Its gone through quite a lot in the (almost) year I’ve owned it and last weekend I went to the yearly car show, Modified Madness 2010 at Thorney Island. And, ahem, WHAT A WEEKEND! Literally amazing.

Can’t really comment on the rest of the show itself, I went there to drift, and drift I did! Here’s some pics & videos
