11 Blogs, Bloggers and Sites I Think You Should Follow

Toady I decided to share with you 11 of the sites that I visit frequently and that I find to be very helpful to what I am trying to do online. I don’t think that visiting and following dozens of blogs and sites is a smart thing to do because that will simply leave you with no spare time to actually take action on all the stuff you read.

This is why I decided to narrow down the list of sites and blogs I follow on continuous basis to the following 11 as I gain a lot from the content they publish and it still leaves me with plenty of time to take action on the content and tips they share. Blogging isn’t easy and I know that from personal experience as I have struggled and still struggling to find the direction I want to go in and to actually get my blog to where I want it to be, which among other things would be to get featured on such a list on someone else’s blog .

All of the following sites have helped me a lot and I’m sure that they can help you too. This is also my way of saying thanks to these bloggers and sites for the help and inspiration they provide. The list is no particular order and I didn’t rank these sites according to importance.

This wasn’t a competition

Smart Passive Income

Pat Flynn is a true inspiration and it is pretty amazing to see what he was able to achieve with his blog over the past 2 years or so. Pat’s Smart Passive Income blog is a really a must read for anyone looking to start making money online as I am more than certain that you can learn quite a few things from what he is sharing.

One of the great things about Pat and his blog, is the fact that he is totally transparent about what he is doing and about his online earnings. Every month he publishes an income report for the previous month showing not only the numbers but also what he learned and how he was able to earn them.

Pat is giving you all the details and insights about his earnings and there really is a lot you can learn by following him on his blog.

Viperchill

Glen Allsop is the man behind Viperchill and I don’t know of any other blogger that puts so much into every single post he publishes. It is really amazing but it seems that every single post on Viperchill is what can be considered as an epic post.

Glen doesn’t have a posting schedule and he can go for weeks (or more) without new content but when he does publish something, it is a must read. It seems that Glen shares with Pat Flynn the desire to help others achieve the same success online without demanding anything in return (something that others on this list also seem to share).

Marc and Angel Hack Life

I only found out about Marc and Angel Hack Life blog a few weeks ago and I have been reading their posts every day since. I was very surprised that I haven’t heard about this blog before as it seems to be very popular with almost 60,000 RSS subscribers and it focuses on providing practical tips for productive living which is something I am very interested in.

I am sure you know that one of the most popular types of posts is the lists posts and as far as I can see, that is the only type of posts you will find on Marc and Angel’s blog and I personally love it. I have no idea how they can create so many of these lists posts but I’m more than happy to read and learn from them all.

Passive Panda

James Clear is the man behind the fairly new Passive Panda blog. Passive Panda is all about helping you earn more money and what I found fascinating about this blog is how quickly James grew it and turned it into the success it is today.

Being able to build a blog that makes you a full time income within 6 months in such a competitive niche is really impressive and Corbett Bar from Think Traffic thought the same thing since he did an interview with James in which he explains exactly how he was able to do it.

Passive Panda has really epic content which is quite similar to the level of what Glen Allsop is doing on Viperchill (but not really there yet IMO). James puts a great deal of emphasis on the quality of the content he publishes and it clearly shows when you visit the blog and read some of the stuff he published.

SEOBook

SEOBook is Aaron Wall’s blog and it is the only blog on the web (that I know of) that tells the tail about Google the way it should be told. He holds nothing back and shares his thoughts combined with facts about what Google is really up to and where they are headed (and it seems to be no where good unless you are a shareholder).

Keep in mind that the blog is only a small part of the SEOBook brand and the site has a lot more to offer. From their free tools and training to their SEO training program. SEOBook is probably one of the best sources online for anything that has to do with search engine optimization (SEO).

Tim Ferriss Blog (Four Hour Workweek)

Tim Ferriss is the Indiana Jones of the digital age. He is an angel investor and the author of the New York Time bestsellers, The 4-Hour Workweek and the 4-Hour Body. I read both books and I really think that the 4-hour workweek is a must read for anyone looking to do something different with his life.

On his blog Tim covers a vast array of topics and to be honest, I don’t read all of the things he publishes since some of them are not really interesting for me but every once in a while he does publish stuff that I really love reading.

One of the sections I love the most on Tim’s blog is the random shows he is doing with Kevin Rose (founder of Digg). There are currently 17 episodes of the random show and these videos are without a doubt my favorite part of his blog. There is so much to learn from these 2 very successful people and it is just really fun to watch them share their thoughts and ideas.

Social Triggers

Derek Halpern is the man behind Social Triggers, a blog about these “little psychological devices” (social triggers) that persuade people to join your list, buy your products and share your content.

Human psychology has a lot do with getting traffic and making sales online and the only place I found that really talks about this issue is on Social Triggers. Derek is really great in breaking down psychological research and business case studies into simple, actionable steps that can really help you improve your online business.

Derek is also the marketing guy at DIYthemes (thesis) and he also blogs there mainly about blog design and little site tweaks that can make a whole world of difference.

The Salty Droid

I think the droid really says it best:

“The Salty Droid is an Anti-Scam bot that patrols the Internet. His scanners seek out opportunities for the administration of rhetorical justice. Smack Downs are administered to those who would use our precious Internet to cause old-fashioned HARM.”

The man behind The Salty Droid is Jason Jones and you can read the interview Aaron Wall did with him on SEOBook to learn more about him and why he does what he does. We all know that the internet is full of those so called “gurus” that won’t stop at anything in order to make money and The Salty Droid really hates those type of people and has no problem saying so and proving why he hates them.

Think Traffic

Corbett Barr is the founder of Think Traffic and he does all he can to help online entrepreneurs create websites and blogs that matter so they can build thriving audiences and earn income to support themselves.

With Think Traffic, Corbett teaches the exact same strategies that he used to build his business and to help over a thousand clients and students become more successful online. Although the blog is called Think Traffic, traffic is not all the Corbett blogs about but it sure does take a major part.

Since traffic takes a very big part in just about everything you do online, it made sense to me to me check Corbett’s blog and I really love the content and tips he shares with his visitors.

Yoast

Joost de Valk, aka Yoast is the man behind this great site/blog. It has everything to do with tweaking websites from search engine optimization to speed and user experience. If you are using WordPress and doing some SEO than I would be you already heard about Joost and his blog. And if you didn’t, than it is about time.

Yoast is without a doubt one of the top SEO and WordPress experts out there and when he shares his vast knowledge I pay attention and I think you should do the same. Yoast has developed some of the most popular WordPress plugins that have been downloaded millions of times in total and for a very good reason. I would say that the two most known plugins are his WordPress SEO Plugin and Google Analytics for WordPress.

Yoast’s posts are usually not very long and they are straight to the point kind of posts which makes them very easy to read and to take action if needed.

Lumosity

Lumosity is different from the other sites I mentioned as it isn’t a blog and I don’t visit this site for the content (although it does have some very interesting content to read). I visit Lumosity in order to play games and I think of it as the gym for my brain and it really does improve brain health and performance.

Every morning before I start checking emails and begin working I make sure to complete one course. The games are fun and it is really cool to see how you progress overtime and get better at them and its also pretty cool to see how you compare against others in your age group.

The reason I know it works is quite simple. I first heard about Lumosity and started using it around 2009 and for some reason I stopped using the site for about 18 months or so and only recently got back into it. I can clearly see how poorly I preform now in comparison to last time since Lumosity keeps the top 5 scores for every game you play and I just can’t see to beat my old scores from 2009 .

Want More Blogs?

I personally don’t think you need to follow too many blogs because that will simply take too much of your time and from my own experience I can tell you that only reading blogs all day wouldn’t really help you achieve you goals. You need to focus on implementing the stuff you read and taking action since that is the only way to truly advance towards your life and business goals.

With that said, I figured I should let you know about Tom Ewer’s list of the 100 blogs you need in your life. This list is focused on blogs in the same niches that I am focusing on so I know that my readers would probably appreciate such a huge list of the top blogs (according to Tom).

If you find a blog is missing from that list than feel free to comment on that post and let Tom know about it .

Writing Honest Reviews Doesn’t Work…

After last week’s big launch of SEO Link Monster I had some thoughts that I wanted to share with you. It seems that writing honest reviews doesn’t really work for conversions as I hoped it will and it seems that in order to really make money from product launches you pretty much need to lie or at least withhold some truths, write as little as possible and do all you can to make the visitor click to the actual product sales page.

To be honest, that is not a big surprise but it still kind of pisses me off . As far as SEO Link Monster is concerned I hoped it would be a really great product that I could highly recommend but I knew from the start that the high price would be a major issue for most users and that I wouldn’t make too many sales and that indeed turned out to be what happened.

Am I Going To Stop?

HELL NO.

Like I said, it isn’t a big surprise for me and I know that I can make a lot more sales if I will change the way I write my reviews and focus more on converting visitors in order to simply make more sales. But that is not what I’m focusing on with my reviews and I have no intention of changing that.

I will keep on writing reviews just as I have. Making sure to test what I review first and be as honest as possible about it. The fact that it doesn’t seem to be worth it as far as conversions and income doesn’t mean there are no benefits.

Doing things differently is important and I started this blog looking to provide different type of reviews and I don’t really see any competition other than what Shane Melaugh is doing over at IMimpact, but it seems he has way more stuff to focus on than writing reviews and in any case, I am more than happy to be in competition with him .

What Are The Benefits?

Aside from doing things differently which is something I decided to do and focus on a while back, writing honest reviews on internet marketing related products and services does have additional benefits.

Respect & Trust

If you will take the time to read some of the comments I got for my SEO Link Monster Review you will see that most visitors really appreciate that kind of review. I get similar comments to all of my reviews and gaining respect and trust is very hard in the internet marketing world thanks to all those so called “gurus”, so being able to gain that trust is super important to me.

It is far more important to me and my online business than just making some sales today. I try to focus on long term success and I just don’t think that trying to convert the most and make more sales fits with my long term view. The way I see it, focusing on conversions and sales is more of a short term thing.

Traffic

One of the three reasons I mentioned in my SEO Link Monster Review for actually taking the time to review the product was that it is going to be a huge launch and aside from the income potential, I also knew I am going to get a lot of traffic if I will be able to rank high enough on Google.

I was more than thrilled to find out I wasn’t wrong. SEO Link Monster was a huge launch, with a lot of hype and a ton of search engine traffic. I was also able to rank on top of Google (not sure about the exact rankings as they varied quite a bit on a daily basis) but I made sure that my listing will pop out by being the only one to add stars ratings.

I was able to do that thanks to a great free WordPress plugin called, Author hReview and if you are writing review on your blog than this plugin is a must have in my opinion. When you have the only listing that has star rating than just being above the fold could be more than enough to attract a lot of traffic.

Here is a screenshot I tool from my Get Clicky dashboard showing the visitors graph to my blog over the past 28 days.

As you can clearly see, my blog traffic tripled during the first 2-3 days of the launch and it is still quite higher than what it was before. I got a lot of new visitors to the blog thanks to my SEO Link Monster Review and I hope that by reading the review and finding about my blog for the first time will mean that some of them will continue to visit in the days, months and years to come.

According to some of the comments I received on that review, it does look like I have earned a few new followers which is simply AWESOME and means a lot more to me than making a few more sales.

Bottom Line

As I said, I am not going to stop writing my reviews the way I write them. I will keep on providing honest and straight forward reviews that will provide you with a clear picture of what the service and/or product is all about.

The Impact Outsourcing Had On My Business

3 months ago I shared with you how I found my outsourcer and also provided you with tips on how easily you can do the same thing. Today I want to share with you how much my business changed since I started outsourcing my link building instead of doing it all myself.

I am sure you read quite a bit about outsourcing and why it is so important so i’m not going to bore you with all that is already obvious. All I will say is that when I decided it is time for me to start outsourcing my main thought was that I needed to stop link building since it just took too much of my time and to be honest with you, I really got a little tired of all the link building and when I get bored with something I tend to not do it or at least not put all my heart into it.

Not a good thing when I pretty much depend on SEO to make a living (which is also not a very good thing but I will leave that for another post).

So What Happened?

This happened:

The graph above is my income and expense graph for the year 2011. As you can see, it started with me making just as much as I was spending but it ended quite differently. Before you start asking, there is a reason why I don’t share the actual figure and that’s simply because the figures are not important to what I’m trying to show here.

I started outsourcing on August 2011 and as you can see, since than there is a really big improvement in my income while my expenses kept going down except for December, in which I simply bought more stuff, paid for the full year ahead and mainly for tax reasons.

The big spike you see in July is thanks to the launch of my WSO, Product Launch Domination Blueprint, and that is also the reason for the drop in August. WSO’s usually make most of the money in the first few days and mine wasn’t any different.

The graph doesn’t show what happened in January 2012 but I can say that I had another spike in income pretty much similar to the one you see in July and this time without any WSO Just from doing what I was doing and thing are looking better every month.

What I’m Trying To Say?

Start outsourcing as soon as you can.

Don’t be afraid to invest the money into outsourcing because that is the only real way to see major growth in your business. When you are outsourcing the tedious, day to day tasks, you have much more free time to put into what really matters.

Outsourcing is much easier than what you might think and it is a hell of a lot easier than what all of those so called outsourcing “gurus” would like you to think. I confess that I was a little bit overwhelmed when I started thinking about outsourcing and finding a full time VA and that actually kept me from doing it for a few months.

But once I decided to just go and see what it is all about, it really turned out to be a very easy thing to do and I was able to find a VA that really helped me transform my online business. You can read all about the process I went through on my post, how I found my outsourcer.

Lets Get Personal, My Real Name Is Not Dave…

My name isn’t Dave Baker. My real name is Dror Bekerman. I am a 30 year old dude from Israel and I make a full time income from affiliate marketing and this blog is a big part of my online business and I finally know what I want this blog to be.

I am not yet ready to reveal that to the world but I can tell you that the rebranding process has already started and this post is probably the first step. Over the past few months I really started to feel bad about the name of this blog and more about the fact that I haven’t been using my real name.

The name of the blog will remain the same (for now) but there is no more reason for me to keep hiding behind the alias name I created for myself.

Why Did I Use An Alias?

I expected you might asked that and I can completely understand where you are coming from with this question. I had 2 main reasons for not using my real name when I started this blog.

Reason One

My name isn’t easy to pronounce for English speaking people and I know that from experience. I was in the USA back in 2004 working in shopping malls and I didn’t use my real name either. It seems that people were having a hard time pronouncing it so I decided to make it easier for everyone and said my name was Dave .

Actually, and this is quite funny, when English speaking people pronounce my name, it sounds like they are saying, drawer. The problems is that this is funny for everyone else except me

Reason Two

I always wanted to have a blog. I wanted to start a blog for years but I didn’t do anything about it because I didn’t know what I wanted to blog about. 2 things happened that pushed me to finally start a blog. The first was that my big brother started his own architectural visualization blog (guess how he got that #1 ranking) and since we have a very healthy brotherly competition between us, there was no way in hell I would agree to the fact that my brother has a great blog and I don’t .

The second thing was that I jumped into the internet marketing waters and started promoting Clickbank product launches and doing other things in order to try and make some money online so I thought I knew what I wanted to blog about.

When I first started this blog it was supposed to be a Clickbank product launch authority site. Instead of creating a new site for every product, I would simply create one master site and write about all the various product launches here. Since most Clickbank product launches are crap I didn’t want to use my real name as I wasn’t very happy with what I was doing.

I didn’t like promoting Clickbank product launches and even though it made me money, I later decided to stop doing them or at least be honest about them and not do it just to make some sales. Meaning that if a product sucked I would say so and won’t recommend it. Just like I did with my Google Sniper 2.0 Review.

I think that the name of this blog, dbpmarketing, is a pretty good proof to the fact that I had no idea what this blog would be about. It is a pretty stupid name and I bet you can all guess what the D & B stand for but I dare you to guess what the P means. I would even make it a guessing a game and the first one to guess what the P stands will get $25 from me to his PayPal account.

So the first reason is that I really didn’t know what this blog will turn out to be and I didn’t want to use my name since the first thing I thought about doing wasn’t something I was really proud of.

Bottom Line

I don’t really consider this to be a lie since many people that contacted me personally know that Dave isn’t my real name and the picture you see in the header of the blog is indeed my own. I really started to feel bad about not using my real name and about picking such a bad domain name for the past few months since the blog started to take shape and gain notice that I knew I would come out with it eventually.

It was only a matter of time and that time is NOW .

As I mentioned before, I am planning to rebrand this blog during 2012, moving to a new domain name that will actually make sense and be related to what I will be blogging about and setting the record straight about my real name is the first step towards that. I still need to check how I should be doing that while not losing any of my current Google rankings.

I hope my reasons make sense and just in case, I am sorry about not using my real name but as far as I see it, I was honest about my reviews and everything else I blogged about so I hope you don’t take it too personally.

Link Indexing Services Mini Roundup

A month ago I published a post with the title, You’re Link Building For Nothing, and in that post I showed how important it is to help the links you create get indexed. If you haven’t read that post yet than I recommend you do but in I will also summarize it here by saying that after checking more than 15,000 pingbacks I got to this blog I found that only 17.52% are indexed.

Since I had plenty of not indexed URLs with my links live on these pages I figured I could do a little indexing service roundup and see which indexing service will provide the best results. I ended up testing 3 services so this isn’t a real roundup as some services stayed out for various reasons but I the 3 I tested are the most popular ones as far as I know so I think it should still be information you can use and learn from.

I divided my big not indexed URL list to several lists each with 1500 URLs that contain my live links and are not indexed. I double checked that for every list just to make sure.

I tested the indexing rates using Scrapebox and I used proxies from Proxy Bonanza. It seems that the interface of Nuclear Link Indexer is a little more complicated than the other 2 but I didn’t really went into details. I just uploaded my URL list and left it for 30 days since I also wanted to test how easy and simple these services are to use.

The Results

Nuclear Link Indexer – 10.66% Indexed

According to the Nuclear Link Indexer interface, the indexing rate is 73.87%. I really don’t know where the big difference comes from so I asked how they are testing the indexing rates and here is the reply I received from Kow Kok Choon:

We use a list of proxy urls and submit your links to google and perform the search through those proxy and if your links exists in google search, means that it is being indexed. we’ve tested our checking for so many times and adjusted it for several times when google has changes, so I’m confident that our check is accurate.

Backlinks Indexer – 4.00% Indexed

I also asked them to explain the low indexing rate and so far I didn’t receive a reply. If and when I will receive one I will share it here.

Backlink Indexing – 0.006% Indexed

As with the other 2 services, I asked for an explanation for the very very low indexing rate and I’m still waiting for a reply. Once I will get one it will be posted here.

Update: Ryan has replied and didn’t have an answer to explain the low index rates but he did provide me with a full refund which I found to be pretty awesome and I truly appreciate that. I know for a fact that not many would have done the same.

Linklicious.me – 0.006% Indexed

As you can see, Linklicious.me didn’t really bring any different or good results. The service is more about getting your links crawled which should also help them get indexed but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Test Group

I also kept a list of 1500 URLs that I didn’t touch and didn’t try to get indexed in any way just to see if some of these URLs will still be indexed during these 30 days and I guess it could be considered as a test group.

Conclusion

Wow. That is what I thought when I saw these crappy results. I was a little worried for a second that I might have done something wrong but when you think about it, all I had to do is to simply load the URL lists to each service and that is something a 6 year old can do so I really doubt if I screwed up the results somehow.

The only thing I can think of is that Scrapebox is to blame but since I don’t know of any other way to check the indexing rates of mass amounts of URLs, I don’t really see how I can do this test without it. Plus, I know that many others are using Scrapebox as the only tool for checking indexing rates so I never really put much thought into how accurate it really is.

In order to check how accurate Scrapebox really is I run each URL list 3 times in order to see if there will be any big differences. As you can see from the screenshots above there are no big differences so the only real way is to simply check manually every URL in Google with site: search operator and see what the real indexing rate is. That is a bit to much for me an in either case, no one is really going to check this way and in order to know if these services are really providing what the users are paying for you need to be able to easily check indexing rates. I only know one tool for the job and that is Scrapebox.

I am planning to test more link indexing services so if you would like me to test specific services feel free to let me know. I would also love to know if you used either of these services? Did you get better results? Do you know of a different way to check indexing rates (without Scrapebox)?

10 Amazing Videos That You Can’t Miss

As I mentioned on my 6 inspirational videos post, about a year ago I decided to create a folder on my bookmarks and save every inspirational and amazing video that really had an impact on me. I tend to check that folder from time to time and see some of the videos whenever I need some inspiration or I just feel a little overwhelmed and I need a short pause.

Today I am going to share with you the 10 amazing videos I bookmarked over the past year because I really think they are truly AMAZING and that not seeing them is something you just can’t afford to do. Most videos just show what a beautiful world we all live in and that is something that most of us tend to forget thanks to the hectic day to day life we all live.

The videos pretty much speak for themselves and I really don’t need to add anything as that will only take away from them. I would just say that The Mountain, Les Chevaliers du Ciel and the Biggest Teahupoo Ever are my top 3. Be sure to watch them in HD and Full Screen .
