Need to Backup Files

I just realized that it’s been months already since I last did a backup of my blogs. Wahhh, I don’t want another repeat of 2010 fiasco where some of my blogs were down for almost a month. So now it’s the time to do some backups.

I usually do this once a month but I’ve been lazy since I had the operation. But no more taking chances. Need to backup backup backup. Time to go to work.

Confined at the Doctor’s Hospital

Who would have thought after a fun-filled Saturday with friends I’ll be confined the next day? Hays! I woke up around 3:30AM earlier to a stomach pain but after 10 minutes or so it stops aching. I told myself that I’m just hungry, then the pain started again and I thought it was just gas pain so I put White Flower in my stomach to ease the pain. But after 2 hours the pain still come and goes so I decided to eat. But I realized that the pain was on the right side only. So I went to my niece (nurse) and asked her what side is the appendicitis. She told me it’s in the right side. So I kept telling myself that it’s not appendicitis. But of course I got nervous ‘cos I know that it could kill me if my appendix ruptures.

My nieces insisted to bring me to the hospital but I told them NO ‘coz I really want to join the Silay tour. But around 7:15AM I decided to call our help to go with me to the Hospital as the pain grew stronger. But when I arrived at the Hospital it just stops all of a sudden. And the nurses just smiled at me and I think they don’t even believe me when I told them it was really painful. But of course they asked me for a lab examination and then when the result arrived they called the ER Doctor and she asked me questions and told me that it’s appendicitis. She called the ER Surgeon (resident) to confirm it. And the Surgeon told me that it’s really appendicitis and I need to undergo Appendectomy within the day.

Well, I told the Surgeon “ohhs?! Are you sure?! Do I really need to undergo an operation? Can’t I take antibiotic for it? It hasn’t rupture yet so could we do it tomorrow or the next day?” *smiles* I just really want to join the Tour. But he told me “No. It can’t wait for another day. Do you want it to rupture during your tour? Do you want to undergo 2 operations if that happens? And don’t worry you won’t feel anything ” Yeah, right! Bulahin mo lilang mo! Then he told me that he’ll schedule the operation right away and asked me who my Doctor is. Since my cousin-in-law is a surgeon I asked for him. Then I was scheduled for an operation in the afternoon.

So here I am now blogging after 1 and a half hour operation and 2 hours recovery. *Smile* Yes, the ER Surgeon was right. I won’t feel anything but he was also wrong I didn’t go to sleep during the operation or after. The doctor’s were teasing me during the operation and kept asking me, “How many gallons of coffee did you drink earlier?” But I just smiled at them and asked them some questions. At some point during the operation I started singing while they were talking about the Pacquiao fight earlier.

Since I can’t talk as the advice from the Doctor’s and nurses I decided to go online and blog about my day. But they are nagging me to go sleep and rest or they’ll confiscate my ipad and cellphones. I better listen to them or else I’ll be stuck here with nothing to do tomorrow or the day after. Ciao!

Paying it Forward

It has been my dream to organize my own charity project and I’m so happy to say that it came true. I’m really proud of myself ‘coz even though I’m not rich I still made it possible. Thanks to my Mom & her friends, to Mayla of milesglimpses.com, Shang, Portia, my neices (Chelle, MM, Weweng), Chona and my family for donating and for helping me achieve this dream.

Well, it’s Lagawan.info’s 7 years anniversary last October 24 so I said “Why not give back or share something to others?” and I just grabbed the opportunity + time to do it. Then when my Mom heard about my plan she & her friends donated money and told me to do it in Central Manapla, her hometown. And from there everything went smooth sailing, uhmmm almost smooth sailing with the help of Chona. I know you’re wondering why I scheduled the project 1st week of November and not on my blog’s anniversary date. Well, one of the reasons why the Charity project was scheduled Nov 6 was that it’s the last weekend after semestral break so the kids will need new set of school supplies. It would inspire them to do their best in school like I used too when I was a kid as every time I have new school supplies I’m really inspired to go to school. Anyways, the other reason was it’s the day after my Moms birthday and the day before my sister’s birthday, so it’s a triple celebration of giving thanks and sharing all the graces we received.

It was really a fun-filled morning. I was so happy seeing those kids with wide smiles on their faces and enjoying the party we gave them. It was such a simple party but to them it means a lot. One of the kids mother even hugged me and told me “salamat gid katama day! dako gid ni nga bulig sa amon. may kalanonon na kami karon sa gabi kag bwas indi na ko magproblema” (Thank you very much day! This is a great help, as I don’t need to worry on what to eat tonight and tomorrow morning). I was kinda bit sad as the food she was telling me about was just a hotdog and a small serving of baked macaroni plus a biscuit, cupcake and a lot of candies. I really want to give her more as she have 3 kids but unfortunately all the extra food we had were already given to other kids who were not on the list. Hays! It really touched me as I can see in her eyes that she’s not saying it to get more food but that she’s really grateful for the help.

Another touching moment earlier were the kids as some of them only ate half of their food. I asked them why and they told me “idal-on ni namon sa utod kag mama namon para makakaon man sila sang hotdog kag macaroni kay kis-a sa malaka lang kami ni ya kakaon” (We’re going bring it home to our siblings and mother so they could eat hotdog and macaroni for we seldom eat this). Oh! They are really good kids and not a greedy one. I can’t help myself in comparing them to my nieces who sometimes quarrel over food (calling Gabby ;P hehehe… Peace Gabz!).

All-in-all this project was a great success. I just hope and wish that I could do this more often, ehem, anyone willing to help me? Well, until the next outreach everyone
