Online retailer Amazon Germany has amended its Wii U listing RRP from EU399 to EU349.
Since the listing appeared last week, CVG has on several occasions asked Amazon UK and Amazon.de to clarify whether or not it randomly selected a Wii U RRP as a means to draw attention to its product pages.Amazon UK and Amazon.de both pledged to provide clarification but have since failed to do so.
It is suspected, though not confirmed, that the Wii U listing is provided with a placeholder RRP that has no bearing on the actual launch price for the Wii U.
Last week, Amazon UK was forced to cancel its �199 Nintendo Wii U pre-orders after admitting it did not know what the price would be.
Under current exchange rates, EU349 would equate to �280 and $435.

ev-Team's new(!) Dreamcast run-and-gun game, is now available for purchase through retailer Play-Asia. The standard edition costs $39.99, with a soundtrack-bearing Limited Edition available for $49.99. An extravagant"Dragon Box" is on the site for $120, but is not available for purchase yet.
If you're put off by newfangled Dreamcast technology and would prefer to playGunLord on Neo Geo, you can get that directly from NGev-Team.

Sony promised us a YouTube app for the PlayStation Vita this month, and although it's just sliding under the wire, that app is here. The viewer as it hits the console will play videos over 3G and WiFi as well as in HD quality, if you've got the bandwidth to burn. Most of the basics for favorites and searches are covered, including a small player that will let you hop between clips. There's no mention of subscriptions for those perpetually addicted to Maru or Ray William Johnson, however. That quirk aside, the free app is due to swing by the PlayStation Store any moment now, so fire up your Vita and get ready to watchgame strategy videos distracting pet clips on that OLED-packing handheld.

Vizio has announced new streaming hardware with OnLive along for the ride
Vizio has announced the Co-Star, a Google TV-powered set top box for $99. The Co-Star contains normal Google TV functionality, with additional built-in apps including Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, and OnLive's streaming game service.
"Our focus to deliver the best consumer experience continues with today's announcement of the Co-Star, which delivers a superior smart TV interface that anyone can add to their existing HDTV," said Vizio chief technology officer Matt McRae. "We combined the powerful features of Google TV� with an intuitive and easy to use interface, giving users the power to enjoy an entire world of entertainment."
The Co-Star comes with a universal Bluetooth remote, and OnLive's controllers can be paired to the system via Bluetooth. The system also has 802.11n Wi-Fi and an integration USB port to attach other peripherals.
The Vizio Co-Star will be available for pre-orders next month on Vizio's official website.

Amazon may unveiled the successor to the Kindle Fire this summer
An anonymous source has told CNET that Amazon will reveal the next Kindle Fire tablet at a launch event on July 31. The source said that the tablet would add a camera and physical volume buttons to the overall hardware. Other upgrades, including resolutions and chipset, were not mentioned. A Digitimes report calls for the new Kindle Fire to add a 1280x800 screen.
Amazon is expected to keep the same $199 price point for the new Kindle Fire, while dropping the price for the old unit.
These rumors come only a day before Google is rumored to be announcing its 7-inch Nexus tablet, which would go head-to-head with Amazon's offering.

David Yarnton says it won�t be long until Nintendo rolls out its digital games strategy to retailers.
Last month, we reported on global plans by Nintendo Japan to start selling more downloadable content via all its retail partners to aid the marketing of digital content and reduce inventory costs.
�Nintendo wants our retailers to be proactively involved [in digital sales],� said Nintendo president Satoru Iwata.
And the platform holder is already talking to retailers, UK chief Yarnton told MCV: �We want to support our partners and them to support us. So we think there is room for packaged goods as well as digital. When you go out to retail, the exposure a shop can give a game is incredible. Some people want downloadable content for its convenience, some people like having a games collection. There�s room for both.�
�From what we have researched, the download market has grown, but it hasn�t eaten into retail in the way many predicted.�
There are important logistics to sort out, he said � specifically considering how Nintendo handles the distribution of download codes to retailers.
He said: �At the moment we have the voucher cards � we�re not quite there to let retailers have just codes for a Zelda game. Yes, digital downloads can reduce the inventory risk � but if you give someone a card with a code it still has a value. There are some issues to work through, but it will happen in the not-too-distant future.�
But once those are sorted, Yarnton is confident retail will embrace the new strategy.
�I can�t speak for them all, but having spoken to places like GAME, they have seen an incredible rise in the sales of digital content. It�s working for them.�
CHIP OFF THE �BLOX
Critics find it easy to point out perceived holes in Nintendo�s digital games strategy. But the firm is quickly learning from the few forays it has made into downloads.
Earlier this year, Nintendo ran a national TV and print campaign promoting the cheaper apps and games available for just a few points on the 3DS eShop.
�One of the things we perhaps haven�t been so good at is telling you about the features we have. For example the downloadable games and other DLC � but we have been promoting it,� said Yarnton.
At the same time it has seen breakout sales for Pullblox, an original game from Nintendo�s Intelligent Systems studios which is the third most praised 3DS game on Metacritic.
�One of our big successes has been Pullblox. It has done incredibly well, and is such good value, and is so much fun � but not enough people know about it. It�s not there on the shopfloor. But it is there, and we have a lot of games like that. We need to do more about educating people about that.�

Earlier this month, kids social network Habbo grabbed the headlines when Channel 4 reported on the sexual predators that allegedly stalk the site�s 265m users.
�Within two minutes I was being asked �do you have a webcam?�, �can we chat on MSN or Skype?�,� said Channel 4 News producer Rachel Seifert.
�I was also, within a couple of minutes, asked to strip, fully naked, and asked what would I do on a webcam.�
The outcry was predictable, but understandable.
Habbo did its best to lay people�s fears to rest. It detailed the protective measures that it uses, muted all public conversations and began its own investigations into user behaviour.
But it wasn�t enough to prevent further reports throughout the mainstream press, or GAME, WH Smith and Tesco from pulling the site�s prepaid content cards.
The incident raised several questions about child safety online. While Habbo is in essence a chat room, its game-like interface draws attention to our industry.
UKIE CEO Dr Jo Twist said: �The games industry generally has a good track record in having measures in place to protect children.
�We have PEGI, parental controls on all consoles and most online games have robust and rigorously enforced policies to reduce the risk of children accessing inappropriate content.
�The Habbo case has shown very clearly how important it is to make sure your systems are checked and tested regularly.�
SYSTEMS?CHECK
In his statement last week, Habbo CEO Paul LaFontaine said: �We filter content and block inappropriate users. We also employ more than 225 moderators, tracking some 70m lines of conversation globally every day on a 24/7 basis.�
But the question this raises is not �why has Habbo failed to protect users?� � instead we should be asking �what more can be done?�
A Disney spokesperson told MCV that it has gone beyond typical filters to protect users of its popular Club Penguin site.
The site�s Safe Chat only allows kids to use words that are on the approved �white list� � a different approach to the usual �black list� of banned words. Meanwhile, Ultimate Safe Chat gives users a set list of phrases and emotes that can be used, guaranteeing no unapproved messages.
Even Nintendo has promised to moderate all messages sent through Wii U�s Miiverse service.
But Crisp Thinking � a company that develops monitoring and profiling software for the likes of Sony, Ubisoft, EA and Moshi Monsters � warns that no method of protection is completely watertight.
�Filtering can still only go so far,� explained CEO Adam Hildreth. �When users communicate, it is inevitable that things will always get through filters. In some of the most serious incidents involving online bullies and sex predators, so-called bad language isn�t used at all.
�And the sheer number of messages means lots of issues will get missed and it�s just not possible for a company to hire thousands of moderators.�
SPREAD THE WORD
Instead, the greatest tool in our arsenal is education. Parents need to be made aware of what their children do on these sites, and how they are protected.
One ace up the games industry�s sleeve is PEGI, which will be made legally enforceable next month and UKIE�s six-month campaign will teach consumers more.
�It is vital that we as an industry help parents understand the social spaces their kids use,� said Twist.
In the meantime, it is up to publishers and social network owners to remain ever vigilant against those who would abuse the internet, without stifling the freedom and experiences it allows the games industry to offer consumers.

He said low-cost PCs are the thing for students, and he dismissed the idea that simply giving gadgets to students will bring change. And it's never going to work on a device where you don't have a keyboard-type input. Students aren't there just to read things. They're actually supposed to be able to write and communicate. Mass Effect 3 voice commands point to new frontier, says Rare engineer David Quinn
The next big challenge for Kinect developers is natural speech, says Rare engineer David Quinn.
Quinn has been working on Kinect "almost since the beginning," and since that time has been instrumental in the Kinect Sports titles.
"We pushed speech pretty hard in Sports 2," he told Gamasutra.
"There was speech in the first round of launch titles- Kinectimals obviously had speech. But from day one the entire UI was gonna be speech-driven. Every game event had to have speech incorporated into it."
But this was a limited approach, and Quinn wants to see speech incorporated in more natural, fluid ways.
