Robert Walker, former president of The Brady Campaign, wrote an article in today's Grist, the popular environmental magazine, about what climate change activists could learn from the NRA.

Although his advice wasn't aimed at helping anti–gun violence advocates, his knowledge-base and area of expertise come directly from the years he spent leading the anti–gun violence movement, and it's very relevant advice for people working in gun violence prevention.

Since its inception in 1972, DCTV has encouraged and fostered citizen journalism and youth media. We believe that storytelling enhances our society, and when we have as many people sharing their stories as possible, we will strengthen our democracy.

This is one of the reasons DCTV began our anti–gun violence media campaign, BeyondBullets.org. Considering the number of people affected by gun violence in our country, and the lack of comprehensive reporting on this issue, we decided to empower more people to share their perspectives and experiences with the public.

Daniel Tyrone Taylor was 16 when he was murdered in The Bronx, New York. His sister, 14-year-old Ruby Taylor, is a Believer. When she lost her brother, she became a mad Believer.

Eighteen years later Ruby Taylor embarked on a voyage of self-discovery to answer the questions: Can a believer be mad at God? What is grief? What is healing? As she examined her family’s reaction to the murder of her brother, as well as her own deep-seated anger towards God, Ms. Taylor gained life-changing insights into the nature of grief, healing, forgiveness and peace.
