Protest against Koobashan Naicker appealing against bail Conditions

Koobashan Naicker is an attorney who killed three innocent people on Athlone Bridge, Durban North on 26th March 2011 around mid day – Carmen Hunter (18 years old) and Gillian and Connor Bell (he was only 8 years old) – while driving under the influence of alcohol. This was not his first and only offence. He has a long list of criminal charges against him. One of his bail conditions was him losing his driver’s licence. He is now wanting to appeal to get his licence back.

We need to prevent this as he has shown no remorse for killing these innocent people or respect for the law. If a man shot and killed another person, would we give him back his gun if he appealed his bail? Naickers gun is his car. He is living a normal, happy life out of jail in Pinetown, while the families of those he killed are still trying to come to terms with their losses. Are we going to allow him the weapon to take more innocent lives from us? Sign this petition and say NO, he must suffer the consequences of his wreckless actions and not be allowed to drive. He should be behind bars where he cannot harm anymore people.

“A lighthearted evening promising a potpourri of fine entertainment, great company and barrels of mirth, all in favour of a heartfelt and good cause.”

This benefit concert was born following the untimely death of yet another three precious lives due to drunk driving. This evening pays tribute to Gillian, Connor and Carmen, and all those who have lost a loved one in this way. Whilst the evening beckons celebration, camaraderie and cheer, the underlying message remains poignant. It is, indeed, possible to have fun without abusing alcohol and risking lives in the process. It remains the conscious choice of a responsible adult not to drive under the influence of liquor.

The vision is that this Benefit Concert becomes an annual event of ‘positive influence’, such that those lives lost were not lost in vain.

This alcohol-free show brings you the likes of Lisa Bobbert-McIlroy, Lauren Laing, Marion Louden and many more established and up-and-coming performing artists in Durban, all giving of their time and talent for charity. With mini auctions, raffles, entertainment and delicious desserts provided, make sure you don’t miss out.
